    In this episode of RAW, I wanted to show you how to overcome your writer's block by using sample packs from websites like Splice or LANDR Samples. With these tools available to us for our music production I think it's important that we use them not only when we are in the flow of creativity but also when and if we need help getting BACK to making a song or beat we can be proud of. I've been dealing a lot with creative blocks recently so I haven't been able to make a beat like I used to but using Splice Sounds has helped me to at least keep myself creating something in the midst of a dry spell. Whether you agree with using loops and samples or not, they can be extremely useful when you're having a hard time making things on your own, even for experienced musicians.

    I know everyone is different in this matter but- if I can't release a song cuz the beat needs to be cleared or something then WE AS PRODCERS NEED TO CHANGE! we need to start making our own material and start creating

      I don’t agree entirely with this statement because I got started by sampling. We have to follow the rules. The only thing that needs to change is people’s outlook on loops and samples.

      We are already creating. It’s just in a different way.

    3:44 "I just wanna make music, man, don't you?"
    Damn, I honestly love the song. The vibe is sweet, and the lyrics hit me hard.
    Whether you release it or not, great work man!
    I use a lot of loops in my work, mostly cause I like using them. I know it can be annoying releasing stuff with loops, even if you have the paperwork, but it's still a valid way of making music.
    Thanks for the video. Take care of yourself, you hear?
    Much love, stay Lxgendary ^-^

      This is true but only sometimes. I think other times I'm being honest when I say I'm stuck. Right now is one of those times. And while yes, I can be easier on myself and have more grace towards me, I also know that being TOO easy on me can lead to laziness and not achieving the things I want to achieve. it's a hard balance to have but that is the lesson I feel I'm learning at this age of my life. Balance.

    Splice is royalty free so you can release your song no problem!!! ❤❤❤

    • @IAMLXGEND
      @IAMLXGEND  Рік тому +1

      I know it is. I'm not worrying about it being royalty free. I'm referring to people who content ID claim splice samples and make it impossible for me to post online anywhere without getting flagged or my audio muted.

      @@IAMLXGENDI think the same every time I download Unison's daily loops! I think yeah sounds great, but many other thousands are doing the same!
      The best though is when it sparks an idea for something I can play myself

    • @IAMLXGEND
      @IAMLXGEND  Рік тому +2

      Which is why you have to change it up when you Use it, yes indeed. But also, sometimes you just gotta let it flow as it flows like what I did here I barely changed anything about any of the loops. But gotta just create SOMEthing

    Hey guys just a question if anyone can help. I am in the process of building my home studio and I have heard that if you have a rectangle room to have your mixing desk on one of the smaller walls. However in my room, one wall has a windows and the other has a door. Which wall should I but it on??? Or should I put it on one of the larger walls (the difference is about is about 76cm)

    • @JonValtandtheEvilRobots
      @JonValtandtheEvilRobots 11 місяців тому

      Set it up temporarily, play music through your monitors and walk around the room looking for places where the sound echoes around.
      TREATING your room is way more important, at your stage, than over analyzing where to set it up. That can be a rabbit hole which, let’s be honest - if you’re setting up a studio for the first time, you should be learning your room, not deep diving the physics of various layouts.
      Spend the time learning your individual space and how it sounds. Also it’ll never sound perfect. And also NOBODY will listen to your music in a sterile studio. They’ll listen in their car, on earbuds, through their crappy phone speakers.
      Take the time to treat a room IF you’re recording real things in there with a mic (versus all in the box).
      Also remember most of these guys on UA-cam set up an elaborate awesome studio and then do everything in the box. It’s for show. This stuff is television, not real life. Like around the 4:45 mark, I’m pretty damned sure he’s not actually HAND-holding a condenser mic for the real recording.
      Those things are sooooo sensitive and amplified that he could whisper from 5 feet away and pick it up. When he’s “singing” along with all the harmonies of the video, if he was hand-holding it, it’d likely be full of misc clicks and rumbles. And if it’s not, he doesn’t have his mic sensitivity up high enough.
      Nothing wrong with any of this. 99% of the people who think they’re here to learn to make music are actually here to watch videos and be entertained. Or to “learn” which gear to buy or exactly how far apart to put their speakers and lots of other things that won’t actually help you. :) :)

    He’s right about how loops can help with inspiration etc. That’s a proper use of tools - eliminating barriers!!
    One thing I’d say about samples and being a “better” musician. Once you build up a certain amount of skill, where you’re making your own stuff from scratch, you’re still “sampling.” Taking an idea from your brain and putting into the computer IS “sampling,” it just isn’t a perfect copy like when you straight up use a pre recorded loop.
    So when you, say, make a trap beat, you’re mentally sampling every trap beat you’ve ever heard… otherwise how would you know it’s a trap beat vs, say, boombap?
    Also re always coming up with new ideas - you’re so right. If you made truly unique music, 100% original, it wouldn’t sound like music!!! The reason a song sounds like “a song” is because it sounds like other things we call “songs.” So stop beating yourself up about being 100% original. :) :)
