Why does it have so few views? What the hell? Algorithm?
This content is *GOLD!*

I learned so much from it. I appreciate open-minded people like Hitoaki to the general public and the world for allowing me to share his craft. Not many places you will find and be trusted by a foreigner to learn someone's traditional craft / trade.
Amazing! We need more people like Hitoaki. A wholesome episode! Thank you!
Looking forward to more such content 🙏
I like these pieces too. Not everything needs to be a controversial topic.
Wow he's been sharpening swords since 1965 in the showa era.
It's amazing to know that it takes 2 weeks to sharpen a katana.
And I thought spending half a day sharpening my Chef's knives using three wet stones and a ceramic was a long time.
This is a nice video. Glad he is so open to teaching others such a traditional trade. Hope more can learn from him. I didn't really think about how swords were kept polished before. I knew somehow they were but didn't know it is a profession of it's own.
The way he says he is so happy is like, the literal sound definition of happiness. You can really hear it in his voice. So much love in his craft and for the customers
Cathy is so focused and loving the craft it's such a good serie; Director amazing video ! Amazing dress Cathy Cat!
Certainly admire Master Manazu's philosophy of "Learn until you die". Ah! The joy of sharpening blades on a whetstone. Great video, thanks for sharing!!!
May he continue learning for a very long time!
There is something special about an expert. Thanks Kathy for this latest series, very informative.
Cathy Normalizing Costumes as everyday outfit is the greatest thing.
What a treasure.
🤩😍
I loved this sword
Bro, this was so cool. Wish you did more stuff like this
These interviews with sword craftsmen have great significance as the masters age. You are preserving history. Have you considered recording oral histories of other unique Japanese? Edited to add: I know you have - only encouragement to continue.
Wonderful! Makes me want to see a colab with Paolo of A Day in the Life, and Ask Japanese.
I love these katana videos! Please do one with someone who makes the beautiful handles!
He understands that the only way to keep traditions alive is to invite others that appreciate said traditions to participate, he reminds me of my dad
Sensei Manazu seems like a really nice guy... love Japanese swords. Nothing on earth like them.
Nihonto. I watched a doc once where the final polishing stone the man used was a tiny little coin sized one. I wonder if it was that same Kyoto stone type. Either way, I bet this is more practical. You guys should go to where they sell the swords I think it is? Where they're all behind glass and stuff.
Sensei is going to show me how to do a basic tameshigiri grind tomorrow. I just rolled and soaked my first mats for Toyama Ryu. I’m so lucky to have this opportunity in my neighborhood.
A really interesting video, thanks for showing us this.
enduring talent.. great video
面白い! Really interesting, never seen something about this topic, nice to see that you had fun ✨
Nobody make a joke about being a master in sword polishing themself. This is serious stuff.
That's a very lengthy process though. I wonder what this whole process was like back when they had to make the swords in large quantities.
Moonie Cathy Cat such an interesting art swordmans ship! i would love to have one or two of those Katana swords over my fire place for display.I bet they would be really expensive and some much involved even just sending one just to the uk even probably have to have a licence for it too.
その道57年は凄い
今でもいるんだねこういう人
I want more "Ask a Professional Japanese" !
To be that kind and giving and his trade means so much and his desire to see it flourish is one of the best things I have watched on you tube.
I would actually love to learn this Artful Skill properly.
This was great.
CatAna for Lady Samurai 🐱🗡️👘
cool!
Cool
🧡
Looks like fun
Could actually really be Hon'ami Koshu-sama, the most famous one? He is a Living National Treasure I believe
If you do something you love, you never work a day in your life. He may be a senior citizen but he'll never be an old man.
Feel so scary to polish a sword
Probably the first time he's ever been interviewed by a "Flashy Fashion Reporter"!
Cathy Cat is going to be the world's first Lolita Samurai!
Danger Cat episode
😼🙀😸
Why do elderly people in japan hunch over so much I'd always see it in videogames and comics but then you find out it's like that irl too is it just the furniture they had in the 50s 60s
For him at least it's probably because of his job.
@@MrSpartanspud oh I didn't mean him he's in pretty good shape but you see so many almost bent in half and it looks so painful to end up with a posture like that
@@BF-Gator Carrying heavy stuff on your back for decades, especially whe you are still young, does that to you.
That said, a former neighbor of me was nearly horizontal. I have no idea why she didn't fall over head first.
My mind is far too dirty to read "SWORD POLISHER" and not laugh😅
That was a great video, Cathy, thank you.
