Why does it have so few views? What the hell? Algorithm?
    This content is *GOLD!*
    ----
I learned so much from it. I appreciate open-minded people like Hitoaki to the general public and the world for allowing me to share his craft. Not many places you will find and be trusted by a foreigner to learn someone's traditional craft / trade.
Amazing! We need more people like Hitoaki. A wholesome episode! Thank you!
Looking forward to more such content 🙏

I like these pieces too. Not everything needs to be a controversial topic.

Wow he's been sharpening swords since 1965 in the showa era.
It's amazing to know that it takes 2 weeks to sharpen a katana.
And I thought spending half a day sharpening my Chef's knives using three wet stones and a ceramic was a long time.

This is a nice video. Glad he is so open to teaching others such a traditional trade. Hope more can learn from him. I didn't really think about how swords were kept polished before. I knew somehow they were but didn't know it is a profession of it's own.

The way he says he is so happy is like, the literal sound definition of happiness. You can really hear it in his voice. So much love in his craft and for the customers

These interviews with sword craftsmen have great significance as the masters age. You are preserving history. Have you considered recording oral histories of other unique Japanese? Edited to add: I know you have - only encouragement to continue.

Nihonto. I watched a doc once where the final polishing stone the man used was a tiny little coin sized one. I wonder if it was that same Kyoto stone type. Either way, I bet this is more practical. You guys should go to where they sell the swords I think it is? Where they're all behind glass and stuff.

Sensei is going to show me how to do a basic tameshigiri grind tomorrow. I just rolled and soaked my first mats for Toyama Ryu. I’m so lucky to have this opportunity in my neighborhood.

Nobody make a joke about being a master in sword polishing themself. This is serious stuff.
That's a very lengthy process though. I wonder what this whole process was like back when they had to make the swords in large quantities.

Moonie Cathy Cat such an interesting art swordmans ship! i would love to have one or two of those Katana swords over my fire place for display.I bet they would be really expensive and some much involved even just sending one just to the uk even probably have to have a licence for it too.
