      That’s why he references the commissioner being more accepting and flexible. Where Roger just isn’t he backs the owners cause technically that’s who he works for. Silva takes a completely different stand. So even though the owners are the same he has to function differently when it comes to the NBA...

    Doug said holding up a black fits. Not just their fits. When you have to get loud to explain your point of view. That's when the conversation with person should ended. He's not open minded he can only see it from one side and one side only. That's what all racist people have in common. You have to have empathy to be a great man or woman. And also be an open minded person. And I'm tired of players comparing slavery to any paid sports in America. Last time I check. The NBA, NFL, MLB and NHL was a paid program. Slavery was not a choice human beings was tortured and murdered.

      You're not serious right?
      Kaepernick kept himself out of the league.
      1. Final two seasons in SF were lack luster at best.
      2. He opted out of his final year in SF to test the waters of free agency at the same time he had abysmal numbers and was creating discourse for his team with his antics.
      3. He and his agent agreed they would only entertain starter money with guaranteed opportunities to start.
      4. When he did finally decide to entertain back up contracts his idiot girlfriend (now wife) went and talked shit about the owner and the Ravens favorite player ever.
      5. He visited like five teams I believe, none of them were willing to offer starter money for a back up QB.
      What the man does off the field as a humanitarian is great, but on the field he is an average maybe even mediocre QB, who's propensity for creating distraction far far outweigh his talent level. That is why Kaepernick is keeping himself out of the NFL.

    Kaep wasnt even that great when he started during those Harbaugh years. Many people still argue that Smith shouldve started after he got healthy. Kaep had 1 breakout game against the Packers, other than that he had been pretty mediocre. Im a die hard 49er fan and that team was carried by Frank Gore, Vernon Davis, a top 5 O-line at the time, and an elite defense featuring Patrick Willis, Justin Smith, and Navarro Bowman.

    While I’m not really a fan of Doug Gottlieb, I agree with him on this. The Employer/Employee analogy is more appropriate than the Slavery analogy. People just like to use the slavery analogy because the guys who own the team are just that, OWNERS. Players can be “purchased” (i.e. signed) and once they sign, they’re contractually “owned” which puts restrictions on what they can and cannot do. Plus there’s the whole thing of being able to trade players contracts to other teams, with or without the players consent. Then there’s the whole evaluation process of pro drafts, where players are poked and prodded, examined and evaluated, weighed and measured, not unlike the slave auctions during slavery. THAT BEING SAID, I think part of what’s at play here is that, for most professional athletes in the MAJOR sports leagues, they’ve been guided and groomed and coddled since adolescence. In many cases, it means they’ve never had to work a real job. You know what happens in the real world? When you get a job? You do what the boss tells you, that’s what. You wear the company uniform, or dress in a manner that fits the policy of the company. You may not like, or agree, with the direction of the company, or it’s policies, or it’s politics. You may think your boss is a moron. But he’s the moron who signs your checks, or approves your payroll. So you do it. Because if you don’t, you’ll get reprimanded, or you’ll GET FIRED. That’s not slavery. That’s BUSINESS.

Do you think the NBA player who thinks the Earth is flat should have kept his mouth shut? And didn't some professional athlete recently say 2 + 2 didn't equal 4? There are impressionable people out there who might think that just because someone plays a professional sport that they are someone to believe, even when they don't have a clue as to what they are talking about. I don't value opinions from professional athletes any more than I value the opinion of the guy sitting next to me in a bar or wherever. The NBA has an easier time between players and owners because there are way less players in the NBA. In the NFL you think every player is going to have a close relationship with the owner; no way. There are players that flood into the NFL every year so if you don't agree with a player it is easy to get rid of them. Not saying it is right or wrong; just stating what it is.

    Bill Rhoden wrote a book called 40 million dollar slave. Read it. Come on people LeBron was speaking parenthetically at best. I do think it was an over reaction on LeBron's part. Two things I'm sure of LeBron's heart if not his words are in the right place and I believe he was speaking to the situation with Colin Kapernack. LeBron at least has the courage to speak his mind inappropriate as it may be at times which is more than I can say about the majority of athletes. Furthermore this whole thing about keep your mouth shut and just play is gutless beyond all words. If you can't speak up when you have money then when can you speak up? Talk about a slave mentally.

Dougie G is a guy that has been privileged his whole life thats why he will steal credit cards from people and try to be transfer with no issues. He does not do the research but more importantly he selectively listen during a convo. Rob should have done a better job at responding to the lies that Dougie was saying like John Elway wanted to bring Kap on his team for a lower price, however that was before all of the controversy took place.

    People today think racism is simply calling another group some derogatory names. Nobody seems to know the definition of Race-ism. LeBron is right. Regardless of how he articulates it. He's speaking to the tradition of all white owners and controllers dictating to the all black young entertainers. They would prefer that these young black men not have an opinion, a vision, a perspective or a desire for ownership and control of their situation. That's what is being spoke of. It's not to insult white Americans. Or old white team owners. But let's study the history of ownership in America before we jump down LeBron James' throat. And most of all, learn the true and original definition of Race-ism to understand how and why a young black male would feel the way LeBron does.

      @@TheVilouboy Doug thinks "Slave mentality" means actual slavery. He's passionate about his something he knows nothing about. It's like Parker telling him to not be offended about the "Jewish money" thing when it's really not his place because he doesn't know the full knowledge of it. Also his history on Kaepernick is flawed.

    • @TheVilouboy
      @TheVilouboy 5 років тому +2

      @Faisal M....thank you for your opinion and I really appreciate it. Hopefully Felicia will respond and either support your argument or come with her own opinion.
      But let me address your opinion, I believe that Doug as well as Rob, stated in the beginning the difference between "Slavery" and having a "Slave Mentality". Now there were points in the conversation where Doug went back and forth between the two but you have to take the entire topic into consideration.
      Rob has a tendency to try and talk over people (watch any Undisputed, or listen to when Chris tries to speak) so I feel that Doug was getting frustrated with his ill mannered mannerisms and misspoke. So I feel being both passionate and frustrated about the sport as well as the horrible topic (either slavery or slave mentality) he's human and he's allowed to make a mistake.
      Now again, if you listen to the entire broadcast, he ended with saying that they were talking about slave mentality, and not slavery.
      I disagree with LeBron (agree with Doug), because at the end of the day this is a business. There are the people who run (bosses) the "Company" and the people who work (employees) for the "Company". You have to have a chain of command, everyone working for the company cannot have an equal share, as that would not make great business sense. I'm pretty sure you work for someone, and you have a boss.
      Name me ANY company in the world, where you're not the CEO, that if you do not perform to the terms of your contract that another company will pick you up, knowing that you did not perform as your were obligated to do. If you fail to perform to the terms of your contract than you should be cut, and what Doug was saying is that see players are being payed millions of dollars to play a sport. If they (the employees/players) do not perform, then they just get reassigned (traded) to another company (team). So to say that these "Old White Men" have a slave mentality is ludicrous. Yes your "boss" is getting paid billions, but again, that's business.
      Now I do believe that Kap is not in the league because of his protest against the injustice in our country (not SOLEY, but mainly). He's numbers/stats were/are better than some of the of the QBs that have been signed or brought out of retirement. And let's face it, he's not putting up Brees, Brady, Rodger numbers but just as Doug said in this day and age, if your significant other says that your potential boss, and legendary "Worker" are a racist/"Uncle Tom" then no, I wouldn't hire you either.
      Ask yourself that question, if you owned a business, and a potential employee spouse called you a racist, would you hire that person?
      As the old saying goes, "The Fruit doesn't fall too far from the tree".

    • @faisalmohamed4988
      @faisalmohamed4988 5 років тому +1

      @@TheVilouboy That's with one particular team his girlfriend (which Doug calls an idiot, that's unprofessional) said was racist which is the Ravens. Kaep is honestly better than a few starting QBs and A LOT of backups. The reason I have no respect for Doug Gottleib is he's not clear with admitting that Kaep would still be in the NFL if he weren't blackballed. He's saying his lack of skill was the reason he was benched (which is false, he was recovering from injury and was put as backup). LeBron's whole point isn't to say NFL players are slaves but they aren't given a proper right to speech, and are constantly being shut up for their opinions. They should be treated, atleast, like the ones who are selling tickets. They're the reason why we watch the NFL. They did a "random" drug test on Eric Reid last week. His 7th in 11 weeks. That isn't right. Lastly, this Doug is always just so wrong. He once sat on First Things First and tried to tell the crew that the NCAA is fair. No one in their right minds, unless they work in the NCAA commission, would make such an absurd proclamation.

    • @TheVilouboy
      @TheVilouboy 5 років тому

      @Faisal M....Thank you for your response.
      So it's ok for LeBron, who is regarded as the face of the NBA, regardless of the PC version of the word used, to label someone "Old White Men/Slave Mentality" (basically calling them racist/PC version) that's not unprofessional but Doug who is not on the same level as a Skip, Stephen A, or Max Kellerman (and DEFINITELY not on a global level as LBJ) it's wrong to label ONE person an idiot, that's wrong? Gotcha.
      In regards to him admitting about Kap being "Blackballed" start listening at the 11:00 mark, and particularly around 11:19.
      * Yet again he couldn't make his point because, as usual, Rob interrupted because he doesn't have any manners.*
      As he stated before, he isn't saying that the ENTIRE reason is that he a "Bad" player, he acknowledges that his actions are also playing a factor for him not playing in the NFL. The idea that he (Doug) isn't showing the same compassion (or using the word that would satisfy your "taste" which is blackballed) as others doesn't mean that he is completely dismissing that possibility.
      Again, there are other players (as stated in this broadcast) who have voiced their opinion, in regards to the injustices in our country. Ray Lewis, and Shannon Sharpe both said, that there were other ways that he could've gone about it.
      In regards to NFL players, again let's take this out of sports and apply it somewhere else. Let's say that I went to a LBGT rally, convention , or whatever, and I kneeled in front of the "Rainbow Flag" (a symbol of their organization), I would be persecuted as a "Gay Basher". Even though in the Bible it states (Leviticus 18:22) that homosexuality is wrong (or injust), if I go there and protest, I would globally persecuted.
      (Kevin Hart was JUST told apologize, or lose your job hosting the Oscar)
      So why is it the Old White Slave owners faults for running a company that makes billions of dollars, and try to keep their business "afloat" if they ban a member for speaking out injustices? That's any business owner, they do not want to bring negativity to their business. Just like if someone uses a racial slur, their fired. Or if they use a homosexual slur, they're not only fired but ye are branded a Gay Basher.
      Again, I completely support Kap, and I think that what happened to him is one of the worse tragedies in modern sports (especially when the NFL allows drug dealers/rapist play) but when you disgrace the Symbol of our nation, many would view that worse than precious stated crimes.
      As far as the NCAA, I agree that it's not fair, but again, let's look at it from the "10,000 foot view" those are STUDENT-ATHLETES, students first. Everyone is so concerned about the money that those kids should be getting (and rightfully so, you use my name, I should get paid) but I don't hear anyone talking who when a VAST majority of these young men cross over to the professional sport they can barely read/write. There are a few Richard Sherman, Tim Duncan but the number that graduated vs those just chasing a dollar doesn't even compare.
      Where is your compassion for them then? Why take someone straight from High School (especially inner cities where education isn't a good as some of your suburban schools) straight to the pros? It's sad to see these young men cross over and not even have a college degree to fall back on because our society has become more infatuated with watching sports than watching a doctor conduct open heart surgery, or two lawyers debate in a courtroom to decide someone's future (innocent/guilty).
      One more thing I forgot to add, in the beginning you said "ONE particular team". Yes there's 32 teams in the league, but ONE team was willing to give him a chance, so again to say that the ENTIRE NFL is Blackballing him is false.
      Lastly. I didn’t see you say anything about the Jewish comment.
