3:09 is probably one of if not the most sophisticated drops I’ve heard. There’s SO MUCH happening in that whole thing, 2 years into producing music and I’ve just now figured out how to really listen to this: Most of this drop uses Nexus presets, the lead is layered with three different sounds, (adagio, nexus GP, and a vibrato synth) and the ambient pad in the background making what sounds like angels or a choir singing with the song (even though it’s just a fuckin synth lol). You’ve got a happy-singalong arp pluck, and then you finally got your guitar compressed with the bass and piano all together very neatly, not to mention all the 30-50 effects he used to mix and master this legendary track like fuck… The compressor alone blends the piano, ambient pad, and bass almost like a portamento synth at the end of every THIRD measure which is EXTRAORDINARILY creative. All together, no matter where you listen to this, the track will always make you happy. Making and producing music for me has completely changed the way I’ve listened to music, I used to think this track was sort of bland alongside everything else Avicii’s made. Funny world we live in, huh? 🙃 EDIT: Just realized he also makes the bass turn up and flip in a quick circle every 4th beat for certain sections like the drop itself. Don’t know how he’s achieved this but it sounds amazing.

It becomes even more of a wacky concept when he takes that to a compressor to make it sound good.. and the little shit like that is the reason why an unfamiliar Avicii track will always kinda kindle a crowd together, or why you get the feeling to turn the volume louder whilst listening.
