The Blackhawk flew right into the right side of the unsuspecting airliner. The airliner was cleared to land. The helicopter should not have been allowed anywhere near the airliner.

When the helicopter reported that it had the jet in sight, and that it would pass behind the jet, the controller had done exactly what he was supposed to do, and what he'd probably done hundreds of times before without incident. That is how aircraft operate in visual conditions. The pilots are ultimately responsible for collision avoidance. You may not like it, you're obviously not a pilot, but that's how it is.
Wrong about "should not have been allowed" as there is no supreme authority that "allowed" them to get too close. When the helicopter crew reported the traffic in sight, the controller was out of the loop. What is unfortunate is the helicopter crew misidentified the jet traffic, misunderstood what the jet was doing, misjudged the distance and closing speeds or lost sight of it altogether in the background lights and didn't report that to ATC.

It's unacceptable to have chopper training exercises being conducted in busy commercial airspaces. To add insult to injury, it was at night at 1️⃣ of the smallest & busiest airports in the nation. Most of us have flown commercial fights into Reagan Nat’l. I'm afraid on a clear day with the runways being so tight. No margin for error ⚠️ ‼️🆗😨
Why do they not know if the plane was on Lane 1 or Lane 3 and if there's three pilots on the Blackhawk should have been someone that was capable of training tell them they can be that low and also would have told them to be on the same frequency

What is this no fault insurance ? Saying the plane collided with the helicopter is misleading, the plane was cleared for landing.
