Kavuma Martin If you’re using those verses to argue for women preachers, they’re being used way out of context to justify your position. Biblical prophecy can and I hope is being used by women for teaching older women, younger women/wives, kids (Eunice and Lois), one on one teaching, but they should not be a pastor/elder. The entire bible is God’s word! See 2 Timothy 3:16
Lord please give our women the ability to preach the gospel and preach so that when man fails then they can pick up and keep going...it doesn't make a difference who preaches the gospel or who teaches it...Jesus never said only men could save souls for Christ....or only men can preach the gospel is salvation....

The issue is not women preaching and or pastoring it's about Biblical authority.

Honestly the "issue" is Beth Moore. She has built her own little kingdom and now she wants to rule over everyone. Thank you Albert! Remember you people who don't like lengthy answers, that he took time to exposit as well as explain history in his answer. Patience is a fruit of the Spirit. Growing in knowledge and wisdom is a command as well.
Both are needed, small, quick answers and at times longer ones. The real danger, and I think the thing that really annoys some is where the long answer is so confusing and ambiguous that it actually leaves room for doubt and other interpretations. Being smart and vague become a virtue. The Apostle Paul was one of the deepest men alive yet he could also just answer the question, we must do both, that is the real fruit of patience and not allowing for a vague argument, even if it is supposedly intelligent.

Sort of like how Jesus states fulfillment or Jesus states beyond action is thought is the same sin to Yahweh. The Jewish woman is from memory quoting the Old Testament to state how Jesus is using the Scriptures to clarify and extend the power of God in our lives and thus revealing Peter is right to state what he is stating.

Paul can give Christian doctrine and prove the point by using Old Testament Scripture whenever he wants. Its' all already in his head to prove his own point or sermon as correct.
We are not to sit there and figure out how to tell women they have no power or value in the church. The Pentateuch gives more written rights to women than all other documents prior to 1930 A.D. excluding the Pentateuch. This honoring of women through written rights was only surpassed because Jewish women in Christian lands felt free enough to make more changes for women.
Proverbs 31 reveals women have power to do good and act in our world. So could women support the ignorant Peter the fisherman? You better believe it cause they did. Can women ask questions and learn and give the Gospel of Good News and train up new believers in "THE WAY" that they should go? You better believe it cause they did. But a few rules needed to be laid down. Men in authority could tell women to stop interrupting sermons so that preaching can be accomplished and the women should refrain from interrupting the sermons and merely ask questions after the sermon to their husbands first and then other men, like the pastor if they still have questions. In like manner, leaders and preachers in the church had authority to stop women from interrupting them with quotes from Old Testament Scriptures as a rabbi doesn't need their idiotic speeches bothering them cause if people like Paul of Tarsus wanted to quote Old Testament Scripture he'd do it, but Peter the fisherman likely had people questioning him and didn't mind the women quoting Old Testament Scriptures so that the crowds would know Peter was right.

Many people (including myself at one time) seem not to take Paul seriously. But One day, God put the fear in my heart to believe Pauls teachings and not to question him. The Structure of the Church must be so. No woman preachers as God instructed.
I'm sure this brother could've answered and two minutes but I think it was wise to speak to the things surrounding this issue and he did and very well.

@@Bible33AD the issue isnt can women be used of God. Because clearly as we see in scripture they can. The issue is wether or not they should hold an office of authority in the church. That is a no. As that is also clear in the teachings of Paul. Such a command however does not deminish the role of the woman in the church. For it's NOT about VALUE, its about ORDER. Such commands of God, should not be compromised, in order to be or sound more appropriate to modern culture.
Amen. I am a 60 yr. old woman and more importantly a believer in the Gospel and our Bridegroom Jesus Christ and God's heart has got to be breaking because of all the division in his body. That being said I formally believe that there is an order that our creator set up and there is His All Knowing reason that He set things up this way. Take it up with Him! God's heart is breaking!!!

As a missionary I am asked to speak often... though I will clarify every time that I am not a preacher. Do I sometimes explain the Greek or Hebrew as I share how God is showing up in the mission field- yep! Though it’s not me being an elder or pastor.
From what I see in the vast denominations where I speak, where there is a woman pastor there are so few men in the congregation.

It is important to celebrate the many gifts God has given to women and the countless ways they minister in the church. We need to remind ourselves often that a different role says nothing about one’s significance or value. Still, the issue matters, for as churches we must order our practices in accord with the word of God and not our own wisdom. When we deviate from the biblical pattern, there are always consequences. God has given us his instructions for our flourishing and our happiness, and when we follow his instructions we show that we trust him.

Yes, gifts but not preaching, teaching men, or have any authority over them. This is God’s commands. One question… why don’t roman catholic women complain about being priests? Perhaps they believe leadership is given to men.

Proverb 31 clearly illustrated what is the ministry of women. She plays a big part for a man to stand out. I went to a Baptist church one night last year, and a woman got up to preach, so I left. Changing to suit the culture and dismissing clear Biblical perimeters screams, "I don't trust you, God! You don't know humans as well as I do! I'm kinder than you!"

This isn't just a Baptist issue. Presbyterians and Dutch Reformed tackle this as well.
I know there is little to no use in posting a comment here...but for those who are annoyed that his answer is 13 minutes: remember that the scriptures speak a lot about speaking the truth in love. This is an incredibly sensitive issue to many, and a current “hot button” issue. Mohler responds biblically, but also thoroughly, winsomely, and carefully. To all those commenters who want a “quick” answer because that’s what the Bible says...imagine if an unbeliever asked you “am I going to hell?”. Biblically, the answer is short and simple. “Yes, you’re going to hell.” But would it be a compromise of biblical conviction to spend time with that unbeliever, explaining the scriptures and doctrines that inform your position? Of course not. It would be winsome. Helpful. Measured. And it might earn a hearing that will bring them to repentance.
Christians...if our love of the truth comes at the expense of taking time to be thoughtful and considerate of people with differing opinions, then we actually are not biblical at all....we’ve sacrificed relational capital with those we might win, and have not loved well.
Mohler sets the example here of a biblically informed, firm conviction that women should not preach. But he explains it in a way that would engage a skeptic and gain hearers.
If we are more concerned with just stating bald truths because “that’s what the Bible says,” then we don’t actually have any real concern that people understand and accept our position on such matters. Mohler does, which is why he takes time to offer a robust answer.

@One for all I'm aware what the bible said and I know there a deeper concept to this. If this is "that simple" then why does Galatians claims male and female don't matter since we are in Christ? Shouldn't the church be focusing on the spirit and not the flesh? What's fascinating is that if women started preaching it would make the word of God sinful since its came from her mouth. The most common one is if women couldn't preach the word of God then why does the Lord tell us to preach the good news? Unless he was just talking to men and not women lol.

This man is very smart and I like his views. I am a woman and will not join a church that has a woman pastor. They can be Sunday school teachers and have special places in the Church but not as pastors. My Bible and my faith first tells me so.

Just become something has “not been controversial” or has been “a settled conviction” doesn’t mean it’s right.
"But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence". 1 Timothy 2:12. Simple pimple. the answer is NO. Eve was form second. A elder woman can counsel a young woman. A woman can witness to someone one on one but not to preach. They can teach Sunday school because they are still children but never can she teach men. Eve tried to teach Adam by telling him to eat something forbidden and we all fell into sin because of it.
CHILD OF CHRIST.......EVe did not attempt to teach Adam anything. Adam was standing there with Eve and sinned of his own volition and will. His sin was his own, not EVe's. SHE offered it to him, not forced it down his throat. They were standing there together and chose individually to disobey.

As a 'retired' female Baptist pastor (in the UK), I find these misogynist arguments very hurtful, misused as they are, to suppress the calling and gifts of women.
Under the old covenant, there were female prophets such as Miriam, Deborah and Huldah. (Exod.15:20; Jud.4:4-5; 2 Kings 22:1 - 23:3). Deborah was not merely a prophet, she was also a judge, that is, she interpreted and applied the Law/Torah when settling legal disputes, which obviously must have involved exercising authority over men. When King Josiah needed to consult a prophet, he had no problem accepting the word of the Lord from Huldah, even though there were male prophets in Jerusalem at the time. A new and 'better covenant' (Heb.7:22) would not lower the status, or restrict the ministry of women! On the contrary, the Holy Spirit's anointing is for all ages, all social classes and both genders (Acts 2:17-18). The gift of prophecy is said to be given to women as well as men, not one but twice! Prophecy is the public, authoritative declaration of the word of the Lord! Paul expected women to prophesy (1 Cor.11:5), and they did. (Acts 21:9)
Romans 12:4-8 lists various gifts, including prophesying, teaching and leadership, which Paul encourages those who possess them to use. Neither the word 'man' nor any male pronouns are in the original Greek! There is no suggestion that some gifts are only for men. Both men and women should use whatever gifts they have! Priscilla taught Apollos, a man! (Acts 18:24-26). Paul tells Timothy to ‘treat older women as mothers’ (1 Tim.5:1-2). Timothy was taught the Scriptures by his mother and grandmother (2 Tim.1:5; 3:14-15), which means that younger men, even those in positions of leadership like Timothy, should be willing to learn from the knowledge and experience of older women. The Greek word translated ‘older women’ is simply the feminine form of ‘elders’, so like it or not, the early church clearly had female elders!
1 Cor.14:34-36 is part of a section, which starts at 12:1, in which Paul addresses questions raised by the Corinthians about the use spiritual gifts (see also 7:1, 8:1, 16:1). He may be quoting something said by the Corinthians, and correcting their misunderstanding. After all, the law says nothing about women having to be silent, and anyway, Paul made it clear that we are no longer in bondage to the law. He can't possibly have meant that women must be totally silent, because he obviously expected them to participate verbally in church gatherings, by praying and prophesying, and he wouldn't contradict himself!
1 Timothy 2:8-15. Paul does NOT say, "I forbid a woman to have authority over a man"! That is a complete mistranslation of the passage. Some pertinent questions:
- If Paul simply wanted to say that women should not have authority over men, why does he use the very unusual word 'authentein', instead of the normal word for authority, 'exousia', used throughout the rest of the N.T.? What does 'authentein' really mean?
- Why should Adam being created before Eve mean women may not lead or teach? Humans were created last, yet were given joint, equal authority over the rest of creation (Gen.1:26-28). If the order in which they were created is the deciding factor, then woman should have authority over man!
- Why should a deliberate rebel (Adam), who sinned knowingly, be more fitted to lead and teach than someone who was deceived?
- What does verse 15 mean? That godly women will not die in childbirth? But they sometimes do! That having babies is the way for women to receive eternal salvation? Clearly nonsense! This verse is notoriously difficult to translate. The Greek literally reads: But ‘she (singular) will be saved (or restored) through the birth of the child, if they (plural) continue in faith etc.’
It is vital to understand the background to this letter. Paul was writing to Timothy in Ephesus which was the centre of the cult of the goddess Artemis (Diana), the goddess of hunting, but also seen as the great mother-goddess, the source of life. False teaching was infecting the church: myths, anti-marriage ideas and an obsession with genealogies. (1:4-7; 4:1-3; Tit.3:9). Paul had left Timothy there to deal with the false teachers (1:3-7). One popular heresy was that Eve was created before Adam, and that she gave life to his lifeless body. Also that she, by eating the Fruit of the Tree of Knowledge, received enlightenment from the serpent, which she then passed on to Adam. Naturally, this idea was attractive to women, and tended to be taught and spread by them. (The word 'men' in 1:3 should be 'people'.)
Now, the word 'authentein' has the connotation of originating or being the source of something (compare the word 'authentic'). The Greek in v.12 is the genitive ‘OF man’ NOT ‘over man’. Hence, what Paul seems to be saying is:
“[At this time] a woman should learn in quietness and full submission.” (Until they know what they are talking about.) “I do not permit a woman to teach that SHE IS THE ORIGINATOR (or source) OF MAN. Understood this way, we see that Paul is correcting a heresy, which he often did in his letters, not giving a totally illogical reason why women may not lead or teach in church gatherings where men are present!

I think your personal thoughts on manhood or lack of it are on the mark. I agree with your interpretation on the pastor and elders. My further questions are. On the Lords day, can a women get behind the pulpit to share their testimony? Can a women be a minister of Youth or Music? Most SBC churches utilize deacons as opposed to elders (I’d love to here u speak on this) so can a women be a deacon? I would love to know your answer to this as I really respect your opinions! Deacons must be the HUSBAND of one wife. Deacons are given a degree of authority over the entire church. Paul clearly said a woman cannot hold authority over a man.

That's what leads women to usurp God's authority instead of submitting to His design.

I like to think of God in three persons. Each of incredible value but with different roles. If God Himself keeps clear distinction between the roles ofFather, son, and Holy Spirit then it follows that he would create roles for us and that we ought to honor the roles we are given by our creator!
I grew up with a mother who didn’t need to but worked full time for the church and then worked full time and went to seminary and then became a pastor. Unfortunately She didn’t have time to be a mom to her three children. My dad who actually supported us tried to be mom and dad but there was no way. You can’t replace the absence of a mother in a child’s life. So especially in my case the honoring of her role as a mother first would have been what I believe God would have wanted.

Biblical churches do… not just baptists. Many baptists allow women speakers too.
There are many churches that have accepted the cultural norm of society… that have adopted ‘feminist views’….

Once again I am excited about bringing others to church. I have met many mature Christians in my short stay. No church is perfect and if it was I have changed that by attending. To me, a firm believer in the men as Elders position, the bigger question is how do we respond and treat those believers who have followed the cultural trend without further splitting the church and showing a failure to love one another?
If someone accepts Jesus Christ and go to the Church, the culture will have to change. The Bible will not be translated in a way that is will be appropriate to a certain culture.

The question remains, "Is receiving biblical instruction from a women equivalent to sitting under her authority." During Sunday morning worship, yes. Any other time is up for debate.
And for churches taking the maximal position it should result in many more qualified men volunteering to teach children then what we see. I think this is an important tell when deciphering how much of this is about biblical authority and how much of it is about power.
I was lead to Christ by a woman -- and nearly all my early instruction came from her until I enrolled in Bible school. She was a wonderful teacher. And she never infringed where God did not intend for her to be ...remarkable restraint shown by a considerably brainy woman!

Paul of Tarsus is saying Peter the fisherman says something about Jesus' teaching and a woman speaks the Old Testament Scripture to prove that it is Jesus speaking with power beyond, yet from, the Torah. Sort of like how Jesus states fulfillment or Jesus states beyond action is thought is the same sin to Yahweh. The Jewish woman is from memory quoting the Old Testament to state how Jesus is using the Scriptures to clarify and extend the power of God in our lives and thus revealing Peter is right to state what he is stating.
Paul of Tarsus is saying that he is a rabbi and doesn't need a woman to clarify things for the crowd or congregation as that would be an insult to him. Paul can give Christian doctrine and prove the point by using Old Testament Scripture whenever he wants. Its' all already in his head to prove his own point or sermon as correct.
We are not to sit there and figure out how to tell women they have no power or value in the church. The Pentateuch gives more written rights to women than all other documents prior to 1930 A.D. excluding the Pentateuch. This honoring of women through written rights was only surpassed because Jewish women in Christian lands felt free enough to make more changes for women.
Proverbs 31 reveals women have power to do good and act in our world. So could women support the ignorant Peter the fisherman? You better believe it cause they did. Can women ask questions and learn and give the Gospel of Good News and train up new believers in "THE WAY" that they should go? You better believe it cause they did. But a few rules needed to be laid down. Men in authority could tell women to stop interrupting sermons so that preaching can be accomplished and the women should refrain from interrupting the sermons and merely ask questions after the sermon to their husbands first and then other men, like the pastor if they still have questions. In like manner, leaders and preachers in the church had authority to stop women from interrupting them with quotes from Old Testament Scriptures as a rabbi doesn't need their idiotic speeches bothering them cause if people like Paul of Tarsus wanted to quote Old Testament Scripture he'd do it, but Peter the fisherman likely had people questioning him and didn't mind the women quoting Old Testament Scriptures so that the crowds would know Peter was right.

Did you ever see that movie, "End of the Spear" where women went to South America after their husbands were speared like dogs by the natives? It's sad how "Christians" will take a single verse, out of context, and build an entire doctrine out of it. This is part of what I meant by reading the Word intellectually instead of following the lead of the Holy Spirit.

If one reads the the verses above and takes that as the entire work, he takes it out of context, bit time.
Back up to chapter 12 at least, then read from there, and you'll find that Paul was answering questions. Sometimes he repeated the question verbatim, and it comes out as a question. Other times he repeats the question which comes out more as a statement. Chapter 14:34 is a case in point. It was a common practice in Jewish culture was to send questions to rabbis on how to live to please God. The rabbi would answer with in responsa. Paul sends a responsa to the Church in answer to the question, “Should women be allowed to preach?”
So..the question was Question: Let your women keep silent in the churches, for they are not permitted to speak; but they are to be submissive, as the law also says. And if they want to learn
something, let them ask their own husbands at home; for it is shameful for women to speak in church (1 Corinthians 14:34-35, NKJV).
Answer: Or did the word of God come originally from you? Or was it you only that it reached? If anyone thinks himself to be a prophet or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things which I write to you are the commandments of the Lord. But if anyone is ignorant, let him be ignorant (1 Corinthians 14:36-38, NKJV)
It does not say in the Old Testament that women are to keep silent. By stopping women from preaching, Satan planned to silence half of the Church, and the church, in general, is complicit in that action, simply by accepting it.

Does God change? Does He have different standards today than He did in the Old Covenant? NO The Word says He is the same yesterday, today, and forever So then, if women are to remain silent, where does the law say so? Why do we see several well known women teaching, judging and so on?

Deborah-judged the country of Israel and caused them to defeat the Syrian enemy

Jael-killed the commander of the enemy army (Judges 4:9, 17-22).
Hannah-prayed and prophesied of the coming Messiah (1 Samuel 1:10-2:11).
Esther-kept the Jewish nation from extinction (Esther 4:14, 7:1-6, 8:4-9:17).
Ruth as directed by Naomi-continued the lineage of the Messiah with Boaz
(Ruth 4:13-22)

My question: since/now that I understand and clearly accept Complimentarianism and the value of God's order for men and women, how do I respond and carry that belief in my heart when my Pastor allows women to preach the Gospel?
I sense a negativity towards women preaching and I'm trying to get to the bottom of it.

It's " the husband of one wife, not the wife of one husband " as stated in I Timothy and Titus. If God gave women permission to pastor churches, I'd be good with it. There is an alternative, they can join the Wesleyan and Methodist denominations
My opinion is that women should NOT be 'lead' pastors. They should not be in charge of congregations. I do think it is okay for women to be associate pastors because there are many women who feel more comfortable bringing their concerns to women as opposed to men. In the Word, women were judges, prophets, and teachers.
The fall is very interesting as it exposes the two key flaws in the male and female nature. It's important to note that these flaws were exposed BEFORE they had fallen. No doubt satan observed them and figured out where they were most exposed, what flaws he could exploit.
The woman will seek to gain power and authority. Some people think that Paul is giving women an excuse by saying she was deceived. She was deceived, which is why Paul is saying they can't teach and exercise authority over men, but she was not tricked. Tricking her would have been if Satan had wrapped the fruit in an orange peel and tricked her into eating it. No, she was deceived only in that she thought eating it would make her equal to God. She wasn't satisfied with being the helpmate to the pinnacle of creation.
So note, the woman's weakness is wanting to usurp authority.
Man's flaw isn't that he won't step up, it's that he is inclined to put the woman in the place of God. God didn't say, "Adam, because you didn't step up and protect your wife and fulfill your role as protector..." No God said, "BECAUSE you have listened to your wife and ate from the tree I commanded you saying 'you shall not eat of it'..."
This is man's weakness. In his desperation to please the woman he's willing to directly disobey God's commands.
Throughout history, when a civilization develops to the point where women don't need strong men to survive, they inevitably try to seize power. This happened in Roman times and it happened in the United States in the 20th century and went into hyperdrive in the 60's with 3rd wave feminism. Radical feminists DEMANDED we all ignore reality and accept their absurd demands to turn everything on it's head and men acquiesced, just to please women, and now our society is hopelessly broken!
Feminism was the trojan horse to get Marxism into the United States, to break up the family home and put children in the care of the state and out of the care of their own family. They actually convinced women that taking care of their own home, their children and their husband, was bondage and slavery, BUT working as a cog in a corporate machine (while STILL having to handle household chores and tasks associated with living, like cooking and cleaning) THAT was true freedom.

Well, yes, you are right in that they both ate the fruit. But it's not about blaming anyone because they both were punished as you may recall. The issue Paul is making is in regard to the order of nature in that Adam was created first and he was not deceived (maybe satan could not get to him? who knows) but satan used Eve to get to Adam as he approached her and not him. Yes, you are right again in that Adam blamed God for giving the woman to him and Eve for giving him to eat but remember that he didn't get away with it, so it's not a blame issue.
When Christians were gathering in those days the Holy Spirit was among them for the purpose of teaching and edifying as we read how some prophesied, etc, so there was a high level of reverence towards God in the presence of the Holy Spirit as you may notice other writings where Paul expressed his opinion about women wearing a veil while praying and prophesying.
The problem, since the Catholics, is that religious organizations today operate under the teachings and appointing of men, not the Holy Spirit, so with many different teachings about their own interpretations, many people don't understand that we today are not to "organize" groups of people, creating churches, and making rules like not permitting women from preaching. People don't focus on the apostles doctrine but on idle babblers. We today are supposed to simply follow the letters the apostles wrote (Inspired by the Holy Spirit) in terms of living holy and breaking bread on Sundays as the tradition set to remember Jesus' sacrifice. Individuals can do that without "being in a church"
The point that I was making before was that preachers today are full of nonsense and not worth listening to. I don't see anything wrong with a woman explaining to a man about the bible but to be a preacher in an organized religion made by men is already in contradiction in the first place. And that is why organized religion is so divided and confusing.

There’s some questionable things in some of the New Testament letters. Some New Testament letters forcefully instruct slaves to obey their masters. Philemon even owned a slave (Onesimus)...!
Point being...there are some Godly women out there, and some of them are very good preachers of the Gospel. And many people have become followers of Jesus because of their preaching. And many followers of Jesus are edified by their preaching.
So I question some New Testament letters on the issue of slavery just as I question them on the issue of women preachers.

Ok... Eve did not use cunning words, as satan, to convince Adam to eat. That is how the word "deceived" is described. It simply says that she gave him of the fruit to eat, which is why he also was guilty, after she heard the words of satan and saw that the fruit was good to eat, .

I'm a member and current deacon at a Southern Baptist church. We adhere to the Biblical distinction that only men can serve as pastor and deacons. We have women Sunday school teachers and women in various "leadership" roles such as treasurer.

He is not beating around the bush at all. He is giving a clear explanation here, with reference to scripture passages in context. He is right about seeing the order set up by God. Will we allow current culture to dictate our beliefs, or will we stand firm on the foundations God set in place? I would rather put my trust in the creator of all. Humans are fickle and human ideas change like shifting sand. There is nothing new under the sun. Eve listened to the serpent and look where it took both her and Adam. This is just a new attempt at subverting God’s authority and supplanting it with human authority. When we truly treasure our inheritance in Christ, we will be humbled and be more than willing to yield our wills to God’s authority structure and His sovereignty over all things, even our roles in sharing His word.
As a High Church Episcopalian...I would say those admonitions are "Human Patriarchy" which has kept women "in their place" until modern times......

Apostles, prophets, and teachers are not spiritual gifts but officers given as gifts to the church. Eph 4:11-12, “So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets,the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, 12 to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up.” In 1 Cor 14, Paul clarifies the issue when he wrote that “Women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the law says. 35 If they want to inquire about something, they should ask their own husbands at home; for it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in the church.” When Paul wrote, brothers and sisters, he did so in a way to address the whole church but not necessarily to include woman as authority figures because if he did, he would be contradicting himself by also saying that woman cannot teach or have authority over men in 1 Tim 2:12.

John MacArthur does an excellent job explaining the issue biblically in his last sermon. The answer is simple. No, they cannot preach or be pastors. No fluff or dancing around the subject. Stick to what the Bible says not what man says.

I am clear when I comes to the church gathered. But I am worried when he says women can teach men in the seminary. Is he saying that that a woman can teach a man to become a pastor. I have issues with this.

Because the context was routed back to creation
1. The women was deceived
2. The Man was made first
Thus this universal context does not allow a woman to have authority nor teach a man in any Christian context. While Paul began by addressing the church context he went back to the law to show it was clearly laid out in a universal application.

I was talking to a couple church members, and a guy from another church that has a female pastor. He was talking about their new female pastor...and one of our church numbers said "maybe I will come to your church Sunday and see her sermon". Immediately, the other church member from my church growled "why?". I started to laugh and had to stop myself. The guy from the other church wasn't thrilled about it being questioned
Any man who is willing to attend a church listening to a female pastor is weak. Plain and simple. Weak, and should be utterly ashamed.
I do not believe women should be pastors. Being a pastor is the same as being a shepherd in the days of Christ- he must be ready to lead and lay down his life for the sheep! BUT, their is one thing no one wants to talk about. Shouldn’t we follow all of St Paul’s edicts? Pastors are you ready to point to the Bible and remind everyone that men ARE NOT to wear their hair long because it is “effeminate”? I have seen men in churches with hair down their backs. No one reminds them of St Paul’s teaching about that. Also, in St Paul’s day, women needed to have a male escort(usually a brother, father, or in the company of other women) before they could walk about town! Are we going to pick and choose which we feel like following? or is it men are not bound to follow St Paul but women are? when I was born again at age 23 many, many years ago, I gobbled up St Paul’s words to Timothy. Since then, I have always “ endeavored to study to show myself approved unto God; a workman that rightly divided the Word of God”….. I took Paul’s advice to heart; I did not see his words as gender related but rather age related- St Paul was talking to me ! I was young, just like Timothy! But now, I find myself in the position that I know more about scripture, church history, etc. than the men that are the elders. it is very frustrating because I cannot say anything; my voice does not count!. I guess I am daring a pastor to be fair and consistent. The usual answer regarding women not working outside the home and men keeping their hair short is “well, that is just “cultural” for that time. Again, the same argument exists for the edict of the “only male”deacons and elders. It wasn’t done in Paul’s day ……I am not advocating for change here; just truth about the issue.

That was a time where women would ask their husbands questions during the service, and in doing so, the husband missed part of what the pastor was saying. That's why that was inserted, at that time.

Hi. I'm in a church that has a male pastor. It has been like this for 200 years. Our church has a program on Sundays and our service consists of two parts. The first half is an all age message which is mostly very simple and easy message that small children can understand too after this we have the pastor preaching. The all age message is presented by any member who wants to do it and this is men, woman, and teenagers. Should or shouldn't this be allowed?

@@morgangrey4020 I am but I'm trying to say to you that the New Testament in particular was written in Greek. Old testament was written in Hebrew and Aramaic. It's important we look at what the original translates to on questionable verses like 1 Tim 2:12. There's a Greek word in there used only in that verse that implies something contrary to how it's commonly interpreted. Do some digging. Really. It's pretty cool to see the implications.
