Hi, very good review, I have a newly tooled class 47 which in my opinion is a superb locomotive, it’s a standard model that I have added a motorised roof fan unit which goes straight into to loco where there is a position for the 2 way connector on the pcb, I have a Legoman sound decoder which sounds superb, for me it is the best class 47 you can buy to date, the price Bachmann want for their trains, wagons, coaches, buildings etc are way way too high, logic tells you that if the price was lower you’d sell more. When I heard Bachmann were bringing out a new dcc control system I thought the high prices were supporting the development of it, I believe most modellers wait for sales of Bachmann items to come up because their items are usually at an affordable price, not all of us have Swiss bank accounts!
Yes I agree with the model is brilliant and yes the prices have gone crazy. Maybe the high un realistic retail price is putting into consideration retailers usually give you 15% discount instead of the 10% that comes from Hornby. However plenty of good discounts to be found out there!!
Hi, I know you probably will not buy a new 2024 Heljan class 47 until it's down to an acceptable price level but from the information that's available today with the new Heljan class 47 now available I'm interested to know what your thoughts are regarding this model as it's going to be sometime before you do a review on it if you do one at all?, many thanks.
Absolutely rediculous price, these prices are getting rediculous now. Railway modelling was once for everyone…now it’s aimed at those who are more wealthy than others. Nearly £400 is a joke. You can’t convince me otherwise. The industry has gone greedy

It’s certainly not worth that price, it’s getting beyond a joke now with the price since all lockdowns have been lifted.
You dont need a stay alive for this its a good runner. Bought same one yesterday for £250 all in.
Nice and yes I agree, just nice to have for reassurance!

You can buy this one with all the bells and whistles for a lot less than £300.
