Sold my collection 7 years ago for a little over $10,000 and put a down payment on a house. Still the best decision I ever made. Even though most of my collection was eternal and went up in value over the years after the sale, the home has almost doubled in value.
Selling at powersellers at events might be quick, but it's the easiest way to get less than what your cards are worth. It's simple math, these people make a living out of it, pay taxes, and have expenses to be at an event. They will never buy your cards for the amount they're worth.
I was sitting next to you on that event at three4one and got approx 450 as well for them, later you gave me a signiture and deckbox, thank you for that :)
In general, I'd guess if you take the time to list every single card and its conditions and put all your collection on auction on ebay, even if it doesn't spike much you will still get a lot more than what you would by selling to big seller like this.
First time I ever sold any cards was a couple years ago on eBay to get started. About 10 cards for 2k-ish after shipping, etc . Of course i wish I kept those 10 cards, would be more like 8k now, but I do not regret it. I needed money at the time to get things rollings but at least I still have a couple nice cards I didn't sell at the time still .
if ever thinking about doing that again. sell whatever; but keep non basic lands. land is always liquid compared to other cards. everyone needs land. not so with other cards.
My brother in law and I went to an event and tried selling his stack, he had over $4.5k in cards like a backpack full. All priced off of tcg lowest buy cost. We sat for 30 min for the guy to look back up at us with beads of sweat dropping from his face and his hands shaking just to try and undercut us with an $800 offer. We went home and ended up selling everything for 5.2k it pays to know what you have.
Sure you did. Then you saved a girl from a supervillain and she came home with you. Then you woke up in your moms basement sweating because of your 450lb bulk denting the couch. Get a life and stop lying
In college I needed cash and sold my lotus, 3 moxes, 12 duals, nether void, and a handful of other cards. Unfortunately it was more than 20 years ago and also netted ~$2-3k. 😭
@@Rootsradical808 yeah, it only hurts because I had them and now they're worth more. If I bought Apple stock with that money at the same time, I'd have way more money. 🤣
I remember selling my collection in 2010 for $300 to a friend. It had good Jace and both blue Onslaught fetch lands along with other chase rares at the time. I could have gotten much much more, but it was EVERYTHING bulk commons, uncommons etc. I bought a laptop instead.
we all make poor choices like this. i did the same thing but spent the 300. what a mistake that was. probably worth a thousand or more in cards now. but whatever. my current collection now ; blows away anything ive ever owned as a kid.
Lol. Sold a collection, but that collection is under 500$. My average commander deck is around 500$ and I run like 19 of them, with a couple around 900 and my most expensive one being 1,300. But I've only played the game for like 12-13 years as I started during core set 2010. If I had to try to give an estimate on how much my collection of rares is worth, it would probably be somewhere between 12-14 grand. Cards I once got for like 3-8 bucks a piece now see prices of 40-100$, it's crazy. I went from having a worthless collection to accruing quite a bit of value.
Cashed out at mtg30th debacle. Got half, but 5 variants aren't for me and ichor doesn't look good next to beta sol rings....like a whole different game. Still got arena tho
I wish I knew! It's a lot of cards and some really good ones but nothing outrageous. I did help sell my friends collection which was mainly innistrad and it went for around €150 and that only online at the lowest price possible.
these are never the way to go if you want to recoup money from the game, general rule 1/3 price though stores for cash, 1/2 for store credit. i recommend to anyone looking to sell, sell them online, you could of made 500 ez,watching 10 seconds & i knew.
That’s like probably under half of what it’s really worth lol. That’s why I’ve always kept every card of mine, no way I’m getting full return, might as well keep it.
it was a love hate selling my invention mox opals before my poor poor affinity got banned. $300 per and i paid 125 per or my underground sea at 550 spiked to 850 3 months later xD was a good time playing edh fpr those 3 months
You do realize he only got about 60% maybe 70% of the true value of the cards. An 70% is only for extremely well off stores or super high end high collections
Meanwhile, I sell a single card for $1500 cash and $500 store credit and a standing bet on WotC's future policies, in a shady back room of an LGS with a handshake to a guy missing half his teeth, only because I once sold him a boxtopper Eternal Witness I pulled. There's such a variety of things that can happen when it comes to Magic the Gathering.
This has to be bait. I know selling at an event doesn't pay out as much as it should. But there is no way you play as much as you do and your "collection" was only 440 euro. Or were these just extra cards you didn't need/want anymore?
@rychugaming8957 I play both, and obviously yeah my cEDH deck costs a lot haha. But I have a blinged out lifegain deck that's also pretty high up there.
You made 40% of the worth you should have just sold them online u saw a few cards in there that are way over, that should have been a 1250-1500$, please do some research
my old collection...was probably worth 6 figures. Multiple Beta Black Lotus. As well as the complete set of Arabian Nights. and my dumbass sold the entire thing for 200 bucks because i was moving and didnt have room for them all. sold them to a friend who plays competitively.
How much is your collection worth?
Minimum 10k
I have multiple thousands of cards, so I’ll probably never know
Somewhere between 15-20k :)
£50k, or there abouts.
Mine is worth like 400 pounds
now you can buy a playset of ragavans💀

Worth it for a bunch of unplayable cards
😂
