    Dependence on Russian energy was not a bad decision. It is nearby and cheap, and Germany's many energy-intensive industries were competitive. However, Germany is now dependent on American energy, which costs four times as much. This and lagging innovation are the reasons Germany is industrializing. EU countries are paying a heavy price for NATO's endless eastward expansion and boycotting Russia.

      100% agreed. Germany ended all its local energy production on the assumption that it would never be forced to choose between the US and Russia/China. I can think of a more egregious error this century.

      You are wrong, being completely dependent on any other country who you do not have an incredibly close relationship with is incredibly naive. They thought if we just focus on our combustion engine everything will be fine

    Germany does not have the independence to have a friendly relationship with Russia. This is the root cause.

      Indeed, Germans have to understand where their right place is: under the command of the US.
