Wow thank you. Can you create youtibe tutorial from beginner aspiring violinist 1st position and shifting and fretboard mastery secrets and other beginner stuffs
Are his writings about vibrato available? I have not found the specific exercises you shared anywhere so far and I am so happy to find this video. I have found through experimentation, and much reading and practice over the last several years, that many of the exercises and principals you highlighted in this video really do lead to a gorgeous, comfortable vibrato that enhances, rather than distorts, the sound.
I’m glad to hear that this video was helpful! Dounis unfortunately didn’t document the vast majority of his method, the exercises that I share here (and the majority of the others I share) were passed down from his student George Neikrug to my teacher And also checkout my Instagram if you haven’t already for more videos on the Dounis method instagram.com/virtuoso_violinist?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==
@@virtuoso_violinist thank you so much for taking the time to share with us. Unfortunately, I am not on Instagram but I will be sure to watch every bit video you have posted here. Again, many thanks!
You’re very welcome! And no worries, I actually have posted a lot of my Instagram videos on here as Shorts too so you can see them here on my UA-cam channel
@@mathildemaijer2396 There is actually a Brazilian violinist, Paulo Calligopoulos, that has done many videos on Dounis violin teaching (but in Portuguese)…
Very useful! Didn’t know you had a UA-cam channel. Work on it and post all your material here it’s super useful! I advise you also to put an intro, outro, and a sound track, Lo-Fi or classical, in the background to be more entertaining while watching you. Best of luck to deserve to be watched!
@@virtuoso_violinist Your videos are really helpful plus all the stuff you have on instagram so. Put an introduction if you like but please no sound track! Nothing should detract from your message! I agree you deserve a big following. I especially like the calm way you approach everything. By breaking things down you make things seem very approachable. Many thanks for your videos.
Thank you! And no I actually learned these vibrato exercises (and the rest of the Dounis method) from my teacher who studied with a student of Dounis. Although the exercises in the blue book are great too, they don’t cover a lot of the things that Dounis taught.
@@mississippisteve626 you may find more of the "oral" teaching of Dounis in Neikrug's book "Notes from my studies with D. C. Dounis " also available as ebook.

More of these videos about Dounis please, it is super interesting!
Glad you like them! And I’m working on getting another one out soon
@@virtuoso_violinist looking forward to it. On UA-cam there are no others who focus on Dounis. I think he was a genius.

Hi, thanks for this video. Are these exercises in a book?
Great video! And great to see you on youtube also :)
Thanks I appreciate it!
Does Dounis have a method for learning arm vibrato also? I feel like most teachers want their students learning this first but I’m not sure why.
Excellent presentation! Are these exercises in the Dounis "blue book" or if not, where did you learn of them - i.e. are there other sources?

🔥Amazing music! It sounds really calming. Have you heard of Sessions? I think you will kill it there!
