NOTE - THIS WORKS when using Reaktor 6 in a DAW. Saving of snap shots doesn't work (I'm told) with the standalone version of Reaktor 6.
This video covers how to "embed" presets INTO an ensemble using Reaktor 6's unique Snap Shot feature.... All 3 Razor Libraries I've created include a Snap Shot file!
Libraries are available for sale EXCLUSIVELY at www.PlugInGuru.com
If someone else is selling my library, it is NOT authorized.

I've used reaktor since it's been out and I've never been able to save or load presets, in the past 10 years I've learned to save them but they don't load so hopefully in the next 10 years I will learn that too when I get my PHD on Reaktor Preset Studies.

I wish I had seen this video before. I just lost around 60 or so self made patches in Monark. I started creating the bank and I thought it would be saved as soon as I add something to it. Once I closed my Reaktor 6 instance and load a new one I found that my bank vanished.
They could at least have prompted a "hey you didn't save your bank, do you wish to save it now?" message box on instance close.
I've started all over and saved the bank but every time I load Monark I have to manually load the bank. Now I know I can save the Ensemble and next time I load that instance of Monark the sound bank will load too.
There's too many abstraction layers... I get it, Reaktor is a modular environment and all of this makes sense on a developer level, but when you just want to load an ensemble like Monark or Razor you shouldn't had to deal with this low level encapsulation stuff that can make you lose hours of work if you don't know your way around.
Reaktor really isn't very user friendly when it comes down to stuff like this. Even in the snapshot department.
Thanks a lot for this one John. This is what I call public service.

completely agree... maddening how obscure it is to simply save simple changes

I came to this video after I'd "Saved" a reaktor patch by saving an ableton clip with that preset in - It did NOT save ... I'm glad you've told us how to actually save Reaktor patches now 😂

Thanks for the very helpful tutorial. I'm having an issue towards the end though. My ensemble displays my new bank in the lower snapshot selector (i.e. the one on the right of the A/B selector) but not in the selector in the main navigation. I've tried everything I can think of. On a side note, why are there two places to select snapshots so close to each other? Why not just one?

I feel like I'm missing something here. What exactly is the benefit in doing this instead of just saving under "User"?

Great tutorial! one question. After loading the SSF on the second method, should i keep the ssf on my hd, if that so, where is most properly placed it? thanks so much

Once installed and saved into an Ensemble, you won't need it again unless you loose the ensemble or want to work with the original files. Having bought it from our site, it's saved there for you to redownload again in the future if needed!

Thanks so much mate, very clear. By the way, would be a good idea if you could make a general tutorial on how to work with snapshots, ensembles, banks and presets on reaktor 6. I mean, loading from HD, store and recall. There´s no even 1 video on the whole net about that - i searched all day. and its very tricky. Big thanks in advance.

I'm not a Reaktor 6 expert by any stretch of the imagination. Don't think you'll see a video like that from me. If I KNOW it, I'll share what I know. If I don't then I won't pretend that I do.... so don't hold your breath my friend.

John, FYI the snapshot files cannot be saved in standalone. It must be done using a host DAW.

That may be correct IF you only have the Reaktor Player, not the FULL Reaktor. In the Player, you can't actually save anything anyway and can only get around this by using it in a DAW, which saves any plugin's settings with a DAW project file, player or not. With only the Player version, you can't do what John just showed, either, or at least you can't SAVE what you do. The point of this demo, and the demo I sent John that this is derived from, is that if you DO have the full version, you'll find ensembles and snapshots far more useful than Players (.rkplr files) and Patches, and IMO (and that of most every Reaktor user I know), should just immediately save out an ensemble (.ens file) from the player and forget about using that ever again, since with an ensemble, you can make more snaps, alter them, move them around, make different, renamed versions of the ensemble with different snap banks, whatever, just as you'd expect, in standalone or in a DAW.

David, I do have the full player. I own Kontakt 9 & 11 ultimate. I can however in standalone go to the files section and it is there for me to use. Also when I tried to save it as John showed in the video while in standalone I did not get the option to save it on my external hard drive. I only got a dialog box to save it on my system drive. I may be doing something incorrectly but that is what happened to me. Also I am not proficient with Reaktor, until John's patches I rarely used it.

It's a real shame that this can be SO complicated! As a long-time user, it's not complicated at all for me, since I've NEVER used the built-in browser or Reaktor preference locations for saving ANYthing in Reaktor. I always and only ever store/save both ensembles and snaps (and every other type of file you can make or download for Reaktor, for building things) into my own folders I create anywhere on my computer; I've got a main current one, but quite a few others including old ones. AND I simply drag or double-click these files into Reaktor 5 or 6 in the ordinary ways. I do keep the browser open for its many other crucial functions, such as accessing properties (like the voice number that John demo'ed elsewhere, MIDI settings, and so on,) PLUS I prefer to access snaps from there, so the list is always visible as I work, and they can be clicked between to instantly load. I often actually preform with them from there, clicking them on the beat, etc. I've put up a few Reaktor demo videos here, and there are LOTS of others. Particularly search for Brent Kallmer's… Questions welcome, too:)

You SURE you don't get a standard Save/Save as… dialog when you choose Save? That you can use to nav to anywhere?

The whole Native Instruments snapshot/ensamble thing is just a disaster (why not just call it "presets" like the rest of the world, to begin with?). Same as the whole file management. I got a new System and installed the whole NI collectors Edition. Some of it (Applications) is on my Main Drive somewhere deep down in the User/Name/Library/ApplicationsSupport/NI/whatever..., the Content (Kontakt librarys) and Expansions are on my external drive and then it adds some folders in documents. Also it demands full access to my computer to ALWAYS run its 3 background Apps, which I wold really only like to run when using NI stuff. I do like the native access App, it helps a lot and keeps everything a little bit under control. But I still feel like my new systems got raped. I have a lot of other big libraries like Arturia and UVI and they all keep things very clean and easy to use. Hope they will rebuild the PRESET-Management in the future, even though my hopes aren't too big for that, considering that they focus more on throwing out new stuff than further develop older things (like the user interface of the framework for example), which is a shame.
