    Yes this is the old Ford college at Daventry where I was a trainer. The building is packed with asbestos which is why we moved to a new state of the art building a few hundred yards away. The building would cost more to update than to demolish and asbestos removal is a huge expense. The building was seal to protect the public and any kit inside is either too old Ord internally damaged to be useful. As far as I am aware it's still Ford property so is subject to normal trespass law. Let's hope your health holds up.

      As long as the don’t disturb the asbestos tiles, pipe covering (in the ceiling )
      They should be fine but I agree they should not be entering the building

      @childofthekingjesusmylord8715 Рік тому

      Far as asbestos it grows wild like pine trees in the entire Appalachian and Blue ridge I suppose we that's just as dangerous for you either way unless you plan on getting a pipe saw and cutting the pipes in half for the insulation that is wrapped in stainless steel metal rap I was an industrial pipe insulator plants unless you feel like taking a hammer and a chisel been going to town on the floors then you're a hundred and fifty percent good to go to operate in that building there a reason that they tore it down and moved over is because they stopped manufacturing particular parts in the new one that y'all moved to

    • @jeffkeith637
      @jeffkeith637 Рік тому

      @@bobolulu7615 the asbestos sheeting degrades and releases the particles that damage your health. Just one particle in your body can lead to a very nasty cancer. Just a roll of the dice, but the longer your exposure the more chance of rolling a 1. So a single visit? Sure. A 3 year apprenticeship? Hm. A 20 year teaching career? No thanks. 10 years of cleaning? Forget it. Refurbishing the building after 50 years of operation? No bloody way.

    Plant in Atlanta, down by the airport was there almost 100 years, was on Henry Ford II Ave. All torn down, nothing left and the road is now Porsche Ave and Porsche of NA use part of the site now (new building) and track for customers to test out the new stuff. Manufacturing did not leave America, was ushered out by greedy corporations and unions.

    • @CreekyGuy

      Don't forget GREEDY governmental units. The prime mover of jobs overseas was taxation. During the most recent real estate meltdown (government caused), I was going to buy a nice luxury home in the Chicago area. The property was built for several million $, and I was able to negotiate a price that was very favorable. The reason the deal didn't close was that the local tax authority would not budge off of the $2200 MONTHLY tax bill. Shame.

    • @CreekyGuy
      @CreekyGuy 4 роки тому +1

      @Chill Will - Well... when you put it that way, it is obvious that you are one of the far-left Demonrat bums who just love the fact that there is almost a 1:1 correlation between the rise in confiscatory tax rates with corresponding blinding corruption, and government waste, plus the capital outflow to other states and countries. I know my capital never made it there. Neither did the (few) jobs I might have brought, nor the taxes all of that activity might have generated.
      Soon, you and your ilk will be able to vote yourselves any income you want. The problem is, there will be no 'other people's money' left to fund those insane programs. Don't worry, everyone at the top will have nice, soft, feathered nests - unlike you and me and everyone else. Just the politically connected. George Orwell said it best: "All animals are equal. Some animals are just more equal than others".

    • @CreekyGuy
      @CreekyGuy 4 роки тому

      @Chill Will - Methinks you protest too much.
      I still wanted a good deal, which I had negotiated. GOVERNMENT made it a BAD DEAL.
      Get it. Learn it. Live it. Stop trying to guilt entrepreneurs, and defend government. Makes you look like what I still suspect you are.
      I would buy anywhere there is an advantage, which isn't outweighed by disadvantage.
      In this case, the disadvantage was government-caused and perpetuated. No deal.
      And yes, if I could engineer a way to legally pay no taxes, I would in a heartbeat... (plenty of others have - still do) and so would you and nearly all of your 'friends'. Most of you just cheat on your taxes, because you really want high taxes on other people, just not for yourselves.
      I can't afford to cheat. Too much downside. However; I would gladly leave the suckers who keep voting for totalitarians, to pay the confiscatory rates they begged for.
      The left manufactures 'greed' and 'equanimity' as bludgeons. But they define 'greed' as you wanting to keep more of what you've earned, when in fact 'greed' is the taking, confiscating, and/or coercing of more and more of someone's else property, interminably.
      Equanimity is defined by the left as sharing the misery.
      Get a clue (I doubt you could buy one). It's OK to just admit who you are.

FUCK NO , property taxes are based on ONE thing and one thing alone.... how much they can get, and that is almost the definition of greed . Do you have another explanation for that ? I mean other then a good way of keeping neighborhoods economically nondiversified

    The worst part about seeing stuff like this abandoned is just the fact there is somebody or a group of somebody's that could use this space and equipment to start, build, and grow a company that would be beneficial to alot of people other than themselves, but will not get that opportunity while this stuff "Hangs in Limbo" for...... No good reason, other than people are letting the trees block there view of the forest. And by trees I mean ignorance, greed, and did I mention ignorance. And by forest I mean potential, helping hand, a vision, that sort of stuff.

Henry Ford, after whom the company is named, was a pioneer of the assembly line method of manufacturing cars and trucks. Apparently some supplies and mechanical parts, including an engine, were left behind in the abandoned plant.

    Do Ford not need training facilities any more?
    Ford used to have a lot of factories around Daventry and elsewhere in the UK, but many are now closed. Maybe the UK public should be buying Toyotas and Nissans now

      Sam Clarke demolition teams generally take the good stuff like that and claim them. I know a couple demo guys. They’ll claim “salvage rights” over the cool stuff like electronics or even money. Even stuff that doesn’t seem useful they’ll take and flip on offer up or craigslist like fire extinguishers, filing cabinets or phone systems. But trust me things like those office chairs and even the clock and pictures on the wall, were taken out first by the demolition crew. Some of that stuff they’ll just even take home.

    • @jamesedmonds3356
      @jamesedmonds3356 6 років тому

      Demolition companies often buy the right to demo buildings like this. A small factory in grensboro nc someone I knew was demolishing was paying 10,000 dollars a day for being behind schedule cause he was still stripping the copper wire out and making 100k a day doing that. I know in less then 1 week he'd walked away with 500k just in copper and the scrapyard he sold the copper to gave him the money in cash. Towards the end he was still stripping everything of value and breaking even but he didnt mind cause it keep his employees paid and something to do while he was setting up their next job, Once he was ready the entire building was down in 3 days and being scooped up in dumptrucks. He also sold things like the front doors, toliets, sinks anything that was salvageable. But just saying, companies dont pay for these buildings to be demolished, people pay them for their trash and are happy to bid high for it.

    I always wonder with these abandoned places, Who is paying the mortgage and property tax, or did the city/county confiscate it? There's alot that can be done at this facility, A trade school, city vehicle maintenance shop, etc.. There must be an underlying reason that they look like a last second decision to run, leaving good equipment behind...

    For the people saying "its one of Ford's old devopment sites!" No, stop it before you make yourself look dumb. Ford's ONE AND ONLY development and RND facilities is underground in Detroit. Like no seriously, the high valued cars that they develop and design as well as do RND on is located below the headquarters in Detroit. High value development requires high security.
    This is more or less a training facility. Not much in the means of storage space, and a lot of lifts and office spaces. Its also not a new engine, its one used for training students how to disassemble and reassemble, troubleshoot, etc.

    The old auto pact (Canada, US), pre NAFTA, gave us Canadians a better share in production, both in Ontario and Quebec. We even had our own models, like Beaumont (Chevelle), Acadian ( Chevette), Montcalm (Mercury Meteor or Marquis), Rideau ( LTD/Galaxy). Rebadges but slight cosmetic differences. McLoughlin (of McLoughlin-Buick) was based in Oshawa Ontario before GM was even a thing. Anyone please correct me if I’m wrong.
