SATUN, THAILAND (สตูล): Welcome to Satun, the province and city in the very far southwest of Thailand, along the Andaman sea coast, and bordering Malaysia. It was my first trip to Satun, and I was excited to walk around, explore, eat, and learn about the culture. #Satun #Thailand #travelvlog
For the full Satun street food tour, you can watch this video: • Thai Street Food - YEL...
But in this video, I share my first impressions of Satun on a walking tour of this laid back city. We started off at the national museum where you’ll find some beautiful paintings and murals on the wall.
One of the main landmarks and most important places in Satun is the Satun Central Mosque, located right in the heart of the city. In the center is also the clock tower. It’s a great place to walk around, and get your bearings.
For an early dinner we stopped at Nong Nee Restaurant (ร้านอาหารน้องณี), a Thai Chinese seafood restaurant. The food was overall quite delicious. Recommended when you’re in Satun. Total price - 1,040 THB ($33.20)
Finally to fish this tour of Satun, if happened to be Saturday, and on Saturday’s there’s a walking street night market in Satun. Great place to walk around and enjoy the atmosphere of Satun.
And that completes our first full day in Satun!

My hometown born and raised there. Watching your video brings back so much memories for me. I attended middle school in downtown Satun. I’ve not been back since 20 years ago and nothing changed much. Love all of your videos. Greeting from Germany 🇩🇪
Awesome to hear that, I really enjoyed Satun. Hope you're doing well!
@@user-xj6uu7gg8e That is a horrible thing to say.
How would you feel if someone made a racist and stereotyping comment about your country(wo)men?
@@MC-ko2mx truth is better . Thats truth
@@user-xj6uu7gg8e That is what *you* feel is "the truth".
Entirely subjective, and extremely rude.
I could equally say something derogatory about you, or people from your country, and claim it was "the truth".
Doesn't make it true.
@@MC-ko2mx What a stain on Nepals reputation he is with that comment.
The main reason why I love mark is that he shows everything abt the city including the arts and atmosphere etc
I only recently discovered your channel.
I have been living in Satun for 3 years, I love this place!
Your video on the pitcher plants in Khuan Khalong got my full attention. I am planning to take a drive there as soon as COVID restrictions have calmed down.
I love exploring the natural environment in Satun. You have inspired me . I love your passion!thank you!
You are such a great dad and Ying is just the most amazing mother. Micah is a very blessed boy.

But how do YOU know for sure personally?
How can you say that as a definitive thing?
Satun is my hometown. I lived there for a half of my life and still try to be back there as soon as possible. I absolutely love the way it is. It's small but so peaceful and really simple, especially the food which is very tasty!! Thank you for making me miss my home and this clip brings me home in about 1year. LOL

I am so happy that Thailand is flourishing and looking like they're almost back to normal. Hope I can say the same thing to where I'm from!! Thailand is def in my bucket list
I used to go to Koh Lipe in the early 2000's, i went the like three times. The people are great, as they are everywhere in SE Asia, and Satun is an amazing place to visit. Those were the days, good times and a lot of Mekong!!!
Great tour Mark!! I love how fresh and green Thai food is. Raw fresh veggies, fish steamed and garnished lightly, not drowned in spices and sauce.
Ikr...Micah is growing so fast! Just love Mark's videos!

The murals, masque, diversity, buildings, night market, and food remind me of Penang, Malaysia. A Blessed Ramadan to all. Thank you for the vlog. Safe travels to you and your family.

Jam nya seperti jam gadang bukit tinggi sumatra barat indonesia .......😍
Im a chef on a really small island in the caribbean with also a lot of different culturers. But here almost every food is standard and boring. Except for a couple of european owned restaurants. So when I see your videos Mark I'm getting jealous.
Here we have only imported standard products. And your videos the foods are looking so fresh and delicious and most of al made with love.
Hello Mark, what else could I ask for on a LAID BACK day like today. A Mark Wiens video adventure. Oh YESS
you are tempting me with the food in thailand and hope to visit there soon
I hope that next time you'll show us a short glimpse of a map to show your location every time you introduce where you are which usually happens at the beginning of your videos. I think that would be a great addition to your videos. It would also be helpful for us. Anyway, great videos Mark!
Mark, I hope that you would have a chance to visit Cambodia, which is Thai's neighbor. Cambodia is also tourist country with tourist places and also "food" ☺️ I've been there a few occasions, and will go again soon after the pandemic
You give food such a good rap... I almost want to take the bite out of your mouth... You describe everything very well
Mark..we know you are not big on sweet stuff but could you showcase different sweets also. Every country use sweet foods as part of their culture. Satun looks so quiet compared to different places you have visited in Thailand..another great video
Ty for posting as i am having difficulty finding ones i haven't watched. After i have seen them all i will repeat them all lol
The fish looks like a threadfin. Lovely video!
Beautiful City and a Always smilling Guy With yummy Food....
Just found out this second channel and I'm pretty disappointed ... that I didn't find this earlier! I will always support more great content from you Mark! 👍
Great insight in Southern Thai culinary diversity. Nam Prik Kapi is just awesome. I think I had it five times in the last week. And Sator as well... I can't wait to eat them again. But here on Koh Samui they are not in season yet. Soon to come. soon to come :)
I really look forward to every new video on all your channels and I am so happy every time I get a notification that you have posted a new one. Thank you Mark ❤️
so many great artists in Satun!
Cool video, as always I eat while watching your videos. What you eat always looks more interesting, but I don't think I'd actually like to eat a lot of what you eat, but your videos are still interesting to watch for me.
Thank you very much Lee!
Great video! Satun looks very friendly!
Wow. I love the art
Oh and growth of this channel, 👍👍
sending big love and support from indonesia!
Very nice video 👌👌 to good 👍👍
That fish looked good 😋😋
what a colorful city. amazing.
AmazingMark~SoooFun😃😃😃👍👍👍
Thanks for the tour!Positive!
MARK AS ALWAYS LOVE YOUR VIDEOS. PLEASE KEEP THE MASK ON. NOT SAFE.
The conditions are much less dangerous in most other countries, that's why you don't see him wearing the mask all of the time. Also because it's outside and not always cramped indoors.
you should say Perlis since Satun feels like Malaysia and close to the border, Mark! hopefully, you can describe the history of Satun after visiting its provincial museum from the time under the Kedah Sultanate to its formation by the British during the colonial era in Malaysia. Pak Bara is usually popular with tourists who go not only to Koh Lipe but also Koh Adang. in fact, these two islands are also accessible from Langkawi via ferry. there is also another port where people take the ferry to go to Langkawi from Thailand called Tamalang. just like in Perlis, Satun is full of natural attractions such as the Thale Ban National Park and the Phua Phet Caves and thus should be ideal for those adventurous tourists including the hill or rock climbers.
Thanks so much for the info and insights Yong!
I believed a lot of Satun/ setul history has been erase or hidden by Thai government
To them history of Satun started after 1909.
@@radzelimohdramli4360 that's what i said. Satun was formed by the british via the anglo-siamese treaty.
Malinger leafs never tried it but full of vitamins and minerals patently 🙂
Hey Mark Weins and family! Wishing you love, joy, and happiness. Keep eating
Always excellent content. Are the leaves in coconut milk taro leaves? Greetings from Central Texas.
