Cade deserves the starting spot. Jj will lead our program in time but right now Cade is my favorite He makes great decisions and can put the team on his back
@@dominickmayberry3562 And there was Cade's interception with about a minute left on a drive that could have won the MSU game. Cade supporters love to forget about that part of the game. Cade could have won it and he failed.
@@yoitsSmitty2004 Cade was 13/19 for 159. Helpful to the effort yes. An exceptional performance no. The run game/offensive line (Haskins 5 running TDs) and defense beat OSU. Cade gets some credit but it was very much a team effort. JJ was also 1/1 for 31 in that game.

Bro, what if the Bucs draft Cade McNamara? Two great QBs from Michigan, Brady and McNamara. This guy, if he can work to it, he can be an explosive guy in the NFL.
McNamara isn't even an explosive QB at Michigan. Did you see the Georgia game last year or the spring game this year? Highly unlikely he will be drafted. Maybe 6th or 7th rounds if at all. He's not mobile/agile. He doesn't have a strong arm. He's not so good with medium and long passes.
Highlights say otherwise that he can play in NFL if he's put in the right system not 1980s football schemes where he or any QB in it barely gets to pass
@@Venage827 I actually agreed with your comment I think the guy is good and can play at NFL level... unfortunately the current system we have and run at Michigan doesn't develop QBs in the way they truly need. They've BARELY gotten to throw the ball more than 14 to 20 passes a game. You can't develop QBs and WR's that way. It's hindered every single QB the last 8 seasons. Doesn't matter what QB we get they won't thrive to their highest level unless the offense gets opened up out of the 1980s power football where QBs WR's are VERY limited. Cade really is a good QB. When he gets time to throw in the right play calls he can make stuff happen like he has. Unfortunately we have people who downplay and dog people and throw them away the moment they see what appears to be the next best thing. Fools gold. Cade played under so much duress from within the program and system used it hindered him quite a bit but from the highlights he has some good skills...more than people have given him credit for
@@Jam-City Yes, and through some highlights, I have seen how he plays, and he reads defense pretty well, and can find an open space for either himself, or another man that he can throw to. He is a true underdog to me (Which is why I would love to see him being taken under Bradys wing), and I think he can really perform well in the NFL and a better passing system that utilizes QBs such as him better...
Great player. I know a lot of people think it's JJ's year up next, but I'm willing to bet the team rides with Cade one more year. Regardless, gonna be a great offensive year next season
You must be blind too, first play of his highlight you see why jj must be our next QB if he put that ball on the money that’s a walk in TD . He play the game to safe. He ran into Georgia and we seen his good enough wasn’t good enough no more . That simple
@@montrellbradshaw1399 He led Michigan to their 3rd ever 12 win season in over 140 seasons of football. He threw the fewest amount of INTs as a Michigan QB that started at least 8 games since some guy named Tom Brady in 1999 (Both had 6 INTs but Cade threw 32 more passes than Brady that year). He led Michigan to it's first Big Ten Championship in 17 years and to a win over a ranked OSU team for the first time in 18 years. No one's claiming he's more athletically gifted than J.J. nor that he has a higher ceiling but he plays well and wins games. In fact, one of the two losses (MSU) was actually his best game of the season and J.J. lost that game with an untimely turnover deep in MSU territory with a chance to put the game away late. I bet if he never entered, Michigan wins. I can't say that had J.J. started against UGA that Michigan would have lost by less than 2 touchdowns. J.J. is the kind of talent needed to win it all but lets not pretend Michigan is really at that level of football (again, the QB play against UGA would have been irrelevant as both lines were getting destroyed). J.J. was prone to more mistakes than Cade when you factor in how many more snaps Cade had and you can't have that when the strength of your team is defense and power run. There's zero reason to sling it around when you don't have to to win. Cade will enter 2022 as the starter. Both will play a ton in the opening weeks and I think by the time we get to the Iowa game, we'll know who's the guy that gets at least the vast majority of snaps based off of practice, decision making, production and ability. Not just talent. Whoever that is, they will be damn good with a damn good backup and all Michigan fans need to shut up and support them. You're the same type of fan that caused the Drew Henson/Tom Brady fiasco. The cream always rises to the top but to put down one of the statistically most successful QB's Michigan has had in 15 years just because his backup can run and has a strong arm is dumb.
I'm a JJ should start guy. But I will root for Cade just as much as I would for JJ if he were named starter. I just want in whomever gives Michigan the best chance to win and I trust Harbaugh will make the right decision.
Even though these are highlights & he definitely lacks arm strength & mobility- this kid is underrated. In the right scheme w/protection, his accuracy & touch coupled with his grit, coolness & IQ has high ceiling value. There’s some parallels here that his time at Michigan was Brady vs Henson, but in reverse. He’s a gamer & this next chapter at Iowa (& beyond) could be very interesting.
So you think the 5 star guy with superior athletic talent and skills should spend most of his sophomore year on the sideline? I don't care about interviews. It's about who will raise the ceiling for the offense. Watch the JJ highlight video. You'll see that he has the arm strength to complete passes in tight coverage, he's accurate on long passes and he actually has designed run plays and was successful at it. JJ had 124 net rushing yards last year. Cade had 26...from scrambling.
@@bluedovepdx With your logic, Tate Martell should've automatically been a great Quarterback, Drew Henson was the best choice over Tom Brady, Joe Milton shouldn't have been as bad as he was (which most of you swore he was the answer the same way you say JJ is lmao). And as we see by a lot of these guys, mobility never seems to be the answer. I think JJ is going to be great, but all the talent in the world is almost obsolete when you have the mentality Cade has. JJ's talent shouldn't be the decision-maker for the position battle and it shouldn't be the decision-maker for this team's "ceiling." The best player will decide these things.
@@NoahPrince.2 Your comment defies logic. JJ will be great but his talent will be almost obsolete because of Cade's mentality? The conversation is about Cade McNamara and JJ McCarthy. You don't know anything about Cade's mentality or JJ's mentality. You and I don't know these people. It's about the skills and talent (or lack of) that they possess. It's about who will help provide the highest ceiling for the offense. It's not about years ago with different players, different coaches, a different offensive system. It's about now and who will best lead the offense. And one more thing. 'mobility never seems to be the answer'. Really? You would rather have a statue for a QB? JJ's talent being able to escape pressure and get passes off or get positive yards and get good yards on designed run plays is a bad thing?
Just watch the JJ highlights before this and I gotta say thank you Kate for last year for running the offense but JJ He's just a better man and every single way possible he just looks like The guy to take us to the next level.
@@steve-opainter9572 In what way is Cade better? Certainly not as a running QB. Only Cade running happens on scrambles. Has a weaker arm. Lots of video out there showing it. 16 yards passing in the spring game. Did not look good in the spring game. Cade loves the short less than 10 yards pass. JJ throwing again very soon. I doubt he'll be ok with being Cade's backup another year. Certainly will make the case in fall camp for being QB1.
If we don’t start JJ soon we might loose him to transfer and he’s the best QB UM has had in a while, I respect Cade and what he’s done but he’s just doesn’t have that Star power needed to make a title run
