    Pro tip from a diesel mechanic a crows foot O2 sensor socket works best on the sensor This just randomly played on my UA-cam because I'm a diesel mechanic and I am always watching diesel related stuff

    Thanks for the video guys we just did mine on my 13. I actually pushed the exhaust back with a ratchet strap and slid the downpipe through the fenderwell and it was a cake job all except with the tab coming off of the downpipe to bolt to the manifold didn't line up without pulling the mating surface of the top flange away from the turbo.

    Do you have to put sensors back in if your truck is deleted and the new downpipe doesn't have the ports for the sensors?

    So I put the 3” down pipe on my lml, reused the old v band clamp and even just got a brand new one, I put everything together double checked and even tried running the clamp super tight and less tight & my down pipe keeps blowing off the back of the turbo while I’m driving, WHATS THE DEAL?

  • @1JabberJaw

    for ANYONE DOING THIS make SURE the downpipe to DOC pipe flange is perfectly FLAT, Gm has a TSB out for white smoke, diesel smell, ect.. it has to do with a gap at the flange there, you can go to GM and get the updated clamp with a gasket for there, it will solve the issue
    , this is only if your going to use the hydro carbon injector and DPF still on

    I'd actually recommend taking off the downpipe heat shield as there is little room between the motor and firewall, can't get it out with it on, everything on these trucks is hard to get to as is. Also, if you have trouble getting to the O2 sensor, go to your local auto parts store and rent some 22 mm sensor sockets, saved my life.

    I’m stuck in California, so there is no way around the DPF/DEF monstrosity. Will a downpipe help me much seeing as how I am stuck with all this eco BS? I’m looking only for lower EGT’s.

    So I installed this uppipe and an up pipe for my deleted 2015 lml. The issue I'm having is that I seem to have a boost leak because the truck makes a loud screeching noise while revving . I just can't seem to find out where leak could be if it's actually that

    I have a question if I were to put a new downpipe and exhaust from MBRP what clamp would you use to tighten the exhaust and downpipe together? A v band clamp?

    • @thoroughbreddiesel
      @thoroughbreddiesel  5 років тому

      Your v-band clamp that comes factory with the truck will work.

  • @eugkra33

    2011-2015 now, although half way through 2015 they added a flange to one side. I still can't figure out if my dad needs this one or the 2015.5 year version.

    • @thoroughbreddiesel
      @thoroughbreddiesel  5 років тому

      The easiest way to check is the downpipe if it has a v band clamp or a three bolt flange at the exhaust pipe.

  • @thekickstartkid

    Would i have to use a tuner doing this down pipe and full dpf and cat delete mbrp on my lmm?

    • @thoroughbreddiesel
      @thoroughbreddiesel  9 років тому +1

      On a LMM, this downpipe could be done with emissions compliant vehicle.

  • @RossRinSD
    @RossRinSD 9 років тому

    Help me max out my credit cards... Installed my turbo and pyrometer gauges this week in prep for a tune and DPF/DEF delete. Figured I'd do the exhaust at the same time as the tune.
    What exactly does this downpipe do? Remove a restriction? How does it help lower EGTs?

    • @thoroughbreddiesel
      @thoroughbreddiesel  9 років тому +1

      The downpipe is a nice upgrade to smooth out the transitions in the downpipe that will allow more airflow and quicker turbo spool up. This in turn will help to lower your EGT’s.

      +Zachary Lawrence For the LBZ you want to use the GM8424. There should be no SES lights with this install, but, as with any performance modification, we always suggest that you be aware that tuning would be a compliment to the install.

    I have a 2005 chev with LLY I love the truck but there is definitely some turbo lag when you floor it. In fact its better if you don't give full throttle immediately, so will the down pipe help with that and what else can I do to minimize lag time?

    • @thoroughbreddiesel
      @thoroughbreddiesel  8 років тому

      The downpipe will not correct all that you are noticing with the turbo lag. It could be as simple as a tuning adjustment that needs to be made.

      I really don’t have an answer for that other than there is usually a couple hundred degree temp difference post turbo, maybe the heat blankets that some come with are sufficient enough to keep from having heat transfer into the cabin while not retaining too much heat post turbo?

    • @thoroughbreddiesel

      Removing the tire will go a long way to keeping you cleaner! The MBRP downpipe has exhaust wrap and the instructions do not call for the heatshield to be reinstalled.

    Wade, did you have any issues mating the new downpipe to the back of the turbo? It's very difficult to see back there, I thought I had a perfect clamp and fit but then raised the hood after a long test drive and saw a little bit of smoke coming from there. Not sure if that's exhaust or the the new pipe and wrap getting hot for the first time. Didn't smell like diesel but was difficult to tell.

    • @thoroughbreddiesel
      @thoroughbreddiesel  9 років тому +2

      It’s gonna be loud, and you run the risk of burning any wiring harnesses or anything else that could be close to the pipe. I don’t suggest doing this.
