Episode 7 already of Pizza Tower Reactions, what!? Included in this video are reactions to Pizza Deluxe, Tunnely Shimbers, and Pizza Engineer.
Hey everyone, I'm String Player Gamer (or SPG for short) I've been a music producer and violinist all my life! Pizza Tower's Soundtrack totally caught me be surprise! But a totally delicious and funky surprise! In this video, I listen and react to the songs from this wonderful soundtrack, so grab a pizza with your favorite drink and listen with me.

Pizza Tower is a 2023 platform game created by the indie developer Tour De Pizza and released for Windows and Steam Deck exclusively through the Steam distribution platform. The game follows pizza chef Peppino Spaghetti as he traverses the titular tower to save his pizzeria.

fun fact: mc pig (the creator of pizza tower) actually said that he was going to use tunnely shimbers for "refrigerator, refrigerador, freezerator", but changed his mind and decided to use it for "don't make a sound" so spg was actually right on the money!
Really? Well, I'm not too familiar with every aspect of Pizza Tower's development, though the Pizza Tower Wiki said Tunnely Shimbers originally was going to be used for a level called "Lights Out". Either way, the fact that it fits so well for a level like "Don't Make a Sound" is impressive, even though it's not very "icey" (not counting the cold atmosphere of the abandoned pizza place).
I thought it was supposed to be used for the underground sections of the old version of The Pig City.
From what I know that stage already had a theme since the Sage demo. It would be nice to know where you got this info.

In this video the underground areas play tunnely shimbers, idk if this person just added the music in though and it wasn't meant to actually play in those parts.
I urge you all to listen to the old city theme. That level had an underground section that used this song, and a circus section later on the level. This song, the circus theme (which is reused at the end of the game cutscene) and the old city music that went scrapped all have the same leitmotifs.
The last song, "Pizza Engineer" has a part two called "Peppino's Sause Machine". You don't want to miss it.

Pizza Deluxe! is composed by POST ELVIS, and is the only track he composed for this game. It does a good job setting up the mood for Pizza Tower's soundtrack as a whole, hopefully letting players know they're in for a fun time. Here's a bit of trivia that I think might be true, older versions of this track apparently had Wario voice clips, particularly "Pizza Time" bits, but ended up using his own imitation of Wario's voice instead, likely to avoid any copyright issues with Nintendo. Incidentally, this theme does feel very wario-ish, even if I can't pin down exactly what about it feels Wario-like.
Tunnely Shimbers, composed by Mr. Sauceman, is a very special track for me at least, because while it still rocks hard like most of the OST, it has a different feel to it. It's eerie, though not in the same way Tombstone Arizona was (the , it's a bit slower paced at times, which compliments the level's theme... Which, by the way, your comment on it being for an ice cavern is an interesting interpretation, I don't think I would have thought about it that way if you hadn't explained it like that. If you're interested in ice level themes, I recommend listening to this game's ice level theme: "dont preheat your oven because if you do the song wont play" (yes, that's what the track is actually called). Also, EXCELLENT electric violin solo, perfectly complimented the original track!
Pizza Engineer, also composed by Mr. Sauceman, is a theme you can tell right from the get-go is a factory level theme. The clanking metal, the machinery noises, the very "Industrial" feel to the whole thing... Speaking personally, I kind of prefer "Peppino's Sauce Machine" over Pizza Engineer, Pizza Engineer basically being the outside of the factory while Peppino's Sauce Machine being the inside of the factory. That being said, they're both really good tracks, though I hope you'll also react to Peppino's Sauce Machine eventually. Also, fun fact: The "Somebody scream!" vocal sample used in this song comes from the DJ D2 song La Karabina, and was previously popularised by its use in Second Heaven by Ryu☆.
That "Interconnected" piece sounds really good, I legitimately would like to hear the whole thing on this channel eventually.
Lastly, in addition to the above recommentdations, I'd love to see you react to Good Eatin' and There's a Bone in my Spaghetti. Thank you once again for these continued reaction videos!
One interesting tidbit, apparently Tunnely Shimbers was gonna be used for the freezer level... but then the spooky vibes it had made it be used for the Toppin' Monster level instead. Which explains why the beginning makes me think of Donkey Kong Country's ice cavern level...

18:56 one of my favourite pieces of trivia from the game’s development is how in early versions of this song and it’s other variation, instead of this unique sample the composer used a sample from a popular old Counter Strike video where a man yells “Door stuck! Door stuck!”.
iirc those just got made as joke variations because people misheard the sample as door stuck but GOD i wish you were right
Tunnly Shimbers definitely sounds like something right out of a donkey kong country soundtrack, also if you want to listen to the actual ice level, then listen to the 3 Refrigerator-Refigerador-Freezeratoir songs called "Dont Preheat Your Oven Because If You Do The Song Won't Play" "Celsius Trouble" and "On The Rocks" also on the rocks is a little short so do a follow up song like "Peppino's Secret Sauce" or something
I absolutely LOVE Tunnely Shimbers so much within the context of the game. Making your way through the abandoned pizzaria through the main hall, kitchen, vents, it's such a love letter to the FNAF community!

@@LionmightOfficialoh come on bruh, a violin has a bit of young age vibes when you go to pizzerias or restaurants for kids themes, you have this string instruments playing both smooth and jumpy notes that give a sense of nostalgia. I mean there are some music robots at the back giving a violin solo and the rest just continue’s to become modern music with the electronic instruments playing after the medieval music solo ends. So yes, very creative with the song, plus you add a bit of thyme leaves as a finished touch ❤

Actually, there is an ice level! It's called "REFRIDGERATOR-REFRIDGERADOR-FREEZERATOR". And it's two songs (most levels in this game have an A theme (that plays in the first half of the level) and a B theme (you can already guess)) are pretty good too. I recommend listening to it's A theme, "Don't Preheat Your Oven Because If You Do The Song Won't Play". The B theme, "Celcius Troubles", isn't much different than the first, unlike most B themes in the game.
I also recommend listening to the song "Hip To Be Italian"! It doesn't come from a level, rather it comes from Peppino's Final Judgement, a rank given to you by the end of the game to see how well you did. A song with a similar vibe to this is "What's On The Kid''s Menu?", Fun Farm's B theme.

A little off topic, but i wanted to say i love your hair dye style - it perfectly catches the light without being distracting.
I'd really like to see more guessing and your interpretation of where the music might play. For example, when in "Tunnel Shimbers" you imagined an ice cave, or in "Pizza Engineer" you imagined this factory where Peppino clones make pizza. I like it and would like to see more of this matching of music to your vision of the level at which the music could play.
Besides, I recommend listening to "Hard Time To Munch You" - this song plays on the same level as "Tunnel Shimbers" and "Peppinos Sauce Machine" - plays on the same level as "Pizza Engineer"
Tunely shimbers is from a later level in the game called don't make a sound, a level set in an abandoned pizzeria with robots trying to catch you and is very fnaf inspired. Just wanted to clear things up, hope this helps!
The slow and icy tonality of Tunnely Shimbers actually translates very well into its usage in DON'T MAKE A SOUND. With the right set dressing, it makes the song sound dingy and dilapidated, with the slower melody pairing with the stealth mechanics of the level. It also has a track called "Hard Drive to Munch You" which plays when one of the monsters is alerted in the level.
You totally have to listen to "There's a Bone in My Spaghetti!" and "Peppino's Sauce Machine"
The first is like Hot/Cold Spaghetti but cranked up and in my opinion, way cooler. "Peppino's Sauce Machine" is the part two of "Pizza Engineer" and you don't want to miss out on it.

i still always enjoy watching you react to the music. Adding your own touch to it through violin is some of my favourite parts because it always goes hard

I just noticed something in Tunnely Shimbers, the high synth keys totally sounds like it came from Clocktower on the snes, specifically the track - I'm Looking For Mary.
The fact that you've made 7 videos really goes to show just how good this ost is. And what's even crazier is there are still bangers that you still haven't listened to yet! If you do plan to make another video, I suggest Peppino's sauce machine (is in the same level as the factory level, comes after the song factory song you listened to in this video) and "there's a bone in my spaghetti!". Both phenomenal songs

Sorry I haven’t been commenting on a lot of your videos, but I’ve wanted a lot of them, and I really enjoy the chill, pleasant vibe of them, regardless of which OST you’re listening to. Your covers are also excellent, keep up the great work!
Fun fact about Pizza Deluxe, when you first enter the menu, the lights are off and the room Peppino's in is dark. At that point, only that first part with the bass plays on vamp.
It's only when you press a button do the lights turn on, and when they do that cool descending blues scale plays, and the full track starts!
Your analysis of Tunnelly Shimbers was very interesting! Despite not realizing it was a tunnel at first, your observations still fit very well, and it was interesting to see how these musical symbols that made you think of a frozen cave also help reinforce a damp tunnel and menacing robots. The waltz section in particular makes me instead think of the sort of tragic horror you get with games like FNaF (which this level was based off of) and having to dance carefully around these robots in order to not wake them up.
I never really thought about the rhythm of Pizza Engineer but you're right, the straight 4/4 tempo is perfect for this constantly working conveyor belt. The tone (and the stream-punk like train chugging) always made me think of those old animations of overly complicated factory machines, especially with the idea of this machine making pizzas! Also the idea that the samples are the foreman screaming orders is a really cool idea!

Oh you absolutely should include Pepino's Sauce Machine for the next episode, it's the other part to Pizza Engineer! Moving from outside the factory to the inside, it picks up the pace :)
If you react to more of the Pizza Tower OST, it'd be interesting to hear your take on some of the shorter pieces like "On The Rocks", "Time for a Smackdown", and "mmm yes put the tree on my pizza."
Outside of Pizza Tower, Melty Blood Type Lumina has a song called "Great Cat's Village R" that I think you'd enjoy.

No, what really has it is the level music called thousand march, also literally just called "WAR"
Tunnely Shimbers was a theme for the level Don't Make a Sound which is a level really based off of the FNAF game series. It also has references such as various posters hung on the walls, 4 animatronics like in the first game(excluding golden freddy who is included as an easter egg but is pretty important to the lore) and a reference to the FNAF 1 game over screen with a dead body's eyes coming out of a Pizzaboy suit
You REALLY need to hear te song "Celsius troubles" Or the song "Don't pre-heat your oven or else this song won't play" They're both for the same level, And probably two of the best songs in The game
One much more underrated song from the Pizza Tower soundtrack that I don't hear anyone ever talk about is On the Rocks. It constantly continues to get stuck in my head. I also really like Bite the Crust and There's a Bone In My Spaghetti
Both the themes from the Pig City level, Bite the Crust and Way of the Pig are some of my favourites, I'm sure you'll eventually listen to all the Pizza Tower songs at this rate but hey, giving my two cents. And two songs. Hah. 'snapping fingers'
In the level of Pizza Engineer has Robot Peppinos, likely making huge supply of pizza, but they're only there to vibe check you

Tunnely shimbers from the level dont make a sound is not a ice level its sort of an stealth thing with special enemies that when they see you, you have 5 secounds to kill them before the alarm sets off an animatronic (also sometimes you have to set the alarm off in order to open special doors) also when an animatronic catches you there's an jumpscare :)

I love the way pizza tower has its great music, but it also mixes it up to make it unpredictable on first listen.
You know i'd love to see your take on the hylics 2 soundtrack, its quite unique and psychedelic and i feel you'd get a kick out of it.
Like actually, the Somebody scream is a pretty popular sound effect used inside the rhythm game aspect, and its so good to level up the rhythm, so you can kinda guess its just another popular sound of techno or electro music that some rhythm games have which clearly makes sense in this level since every factory follows a rhythm

If, when you find that you finally wish to close out of this wonderful visitation of all the amazing pizza tower musical masterpieces, may i recommend listening to "Receding Hairline Celebration Party" as a closing tune to the series, seeing as it serves as both the credits song but also an excellent revisitation to the overall theming motifs we've gotten to hear throughout the songs in Pizza Tower.

If you are really looking for a video game soundtrack to listen and to make a reaction/analysis, then PLEASE look for David Arkenstone's music for the game Emperor: Battle for Dune.
The approach to the soundtrack in this game is just great, for each of the featured Great Houses of the Dune had their own genre of music written by composer unique for each faction, and David Arkenstone here made soundtrack for House Harkonnen and that just gorgeous. In 2001 the guy that made before celtic-style music just created insane, kind of "industrial rock" heavy soundtrack that just... please just at least take a look at it!

It isn’t an official Pizza Tower song, but I would LOVE to hear you listen to Pillar John’s Revenge! It’s hands down the best fan-made Pizza Tower song, it might as well be official!
as someone who followed PT's development since 2019, Pizza Deluxe is so dang nostalgic to me
Tunnely Shimbers is such a nice song to me because i can pick up so many Donkey Kong Country samples and the song very much starts out like a mix of Cave Dweller Concert and Ice Cave Chant with the dripping sounds from the first song and the constant low note playing from the 2nd song listed. Very nostalgic to me, and it happens to mix in with the FNAF inspired level which was also a good part of my younger teen years.
I have three suggestions for a pat 8: *"Unearthly Blues"* *"Dungeon Freakshow"* and *"There's A Bone In My Spaghetti"* wich if Hot Spaghetti and Cold Spaghetti are sister songs, then this one is like the cousin

in pizza engineer, you said it was like peppino clones making pizza, well it's actually peppino robots, the clones are used in the final level, and as the beloved boss of boss 4

So I don't know if you're still taking suggestions for other games, but it you want a real interesting trip:
I suggest any of Mili's songs for Project Moon's Library of Ruina or Limbus Company, such as "String Theocracy" or "In Hell We Live, Lament", or really any songs from the album "To Kill a Living Book"
Another good one that's a character theme is "Between Two Worlds" which is the theme for Limbus Company's third dungeon Boss Battle, Kromer.
The soundtrack "John's pillar revenge" is on my replay. Can you put it in the next video, please
Omg i recently got into your channel and i love the way you describe songs, Id love to hear your thoughts on Dokkan, specially on "INT Piccolo Jr. Active Skill" and "LR SSJ Goku & Vegeta Morale Boost". They are insane, i love fast paced songs that you can just feel.

If youre doing more of pizza tower, i think i have some reccommendations in mind
"Okay campers, rise and shine" and "hard drive to munch you" are chase themes of fake peppino (pizza time never ends) and dont make a sound (tunnely shimbers) respectiveley
"Leaning dream" is the pause menu music
"Peppino's sauce machine" is a more upbeat version of "pizza engineer"
All of the floor themes (mondays, teusdays, wednesdays, etc), basically menacing hubworld music
As for a different game soundtrack reccomendation, a rythmn platformer by the name of Mad Rat Dead mayhaps?

I know you've already given your thoughts on the "Oregano Mirage", but I would also recommend giving the accompanying theme "Oregano UFO" a listen too
I feel like that track goes a little underappreciated (at least imo)
FIRST: Tunnely Shinbers is actually the song from "Don't Make A Sound" the funny fnaf level.
SECOND: Some levels have "Twin" songs like Pizzascape with Hot and Cold Spaghetti or Peppibot Factory with Pizza Enginer and Peppino's Sauce Machine
THIRD: my recomendations are: "There's A Bone In My Spaghetti" (Remix of Cold Spaghetti For Pizzascare),
"Bites The Crust" and "Way Of The Pig" (both from Pig City but completely different)
You honestly need to listen to Pizza Mayhem, its actually the only song in the game containing lyrics and was actually supposed to be the opening cutscene instead of "Time For A Smackdown!" And if lyrics arent your thing the instrumentals is just as good.
I reccomend you have a listen to the Rogue Legacy 2 soundtrack, it has great songs like Pishon Drylake, The New World Army, Subterranean Sunrise, and Immortal Cain, But nobody's talking about it!

Okay, you're looking for suggestions I've got one but a game, but a game composer. I'm sure you've gotten this suggestion before and you may have even already done a video but i recommend Mr Tim Folin (sorry if i spelled it wrong.)
He's known for the title screen of Solstice for the nes, the theme for puznik (spelling again), the title screen for pictionary for the nes. But there's one song i have to request and that's from the game Time Trax (named for the show by the same name) for the genesis slash megadrive, in particular i am thinking a song simply titled "track 4"
