Guitar Bridge Repair

- In this video I show how to repair a lifting or loose guitar bridge. The bridge can pop off over time due to it being under tension from the guitar strings.

Well done Keith...nice job...you just showing off now with your additional guitar skills 👏👏👏👏👏
Cheers Paul
must be the ring
Always good to have a woodworking friend 😉 really enjoyed the ending something a little different 😊
Cheers mate. It was nice filming something without having to worry about being in front of the camera, meant I could take the time to set up lighting and camera angles etc - enjoyable!
Even better, having a friend with a commercial grade workshop. 😉
Wow. Tuned in for woodwork tips and get a music video as a bonus. Thanks.
Such a pleasure to watch your work. Your narration is always excellent. As a teacher who creates lots of digital material for special education, I know the importance of clarity and sincerity when narrating, and you make your viewers feel like they are in your shop learning a craft. Thanks!
To quote Miles Davis "music was my first love and it'll be the last music of the future the music of the past"
Thank you for taking such beautiful care and repairing that gorgeous guitar
Thank you
I honestly did not expect to enjoy that one as much as I did. Excellent stuff, as per usual. Keep 'em coming.👍🏻
I really enjoyed that one. Nice to see you both play at the end
Beautiful job! That is a very lovely guitar.
Great work on the guitar repair Keith! Thanks for sharing the video with us!💖👍😎JP
Nice video. particularly liked the musicality. Regards JP
Great care and skill. Well done!
This was great. Enjoyed seeing this musical side of you. And your friend plays beautifully. Thanks 😊
Yeah he's great! Cheers👍
Fantastic work, Keith! 😃
It sounds great!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Great job, loving the different video content 👍🏼
Beautiful guitar, great repair job!
Good to see. My first guitar from when I was 8 has the bridge coming away, maybe it's time to give this a go... cheers and I liked the ending from you both.
Wow! Fantastic. 👍
Big thumbs up for Paul, nicely played sir :)
Great video as usual mate 👍👍🌟🌟
Skills!... Paul, a custom guitar theme for the repair videos please if you would sir! 😜
Super stuff, really enjoyed that. Thank you
Thanks
The guitar sounds and looks good. Kudos for taking care of your friend.
Thank you
Good job sir🙌
Thankyou for not calling it a razor blade 😁👍
🤣👍
You play the guitar very well. Man what can't you do!?!
Cheees, I played in bands for nearly 20 years as a young un. There's plenty I can't do!
Fantastic job. I am sure your friend is super happy to have his guitar fixed and playable again. I was just thinking about my violin I have that needs a major overhaul right before seeing your video. Now I am inspired to make the 45+ clamps I need to reglue the top and backs to the ribs. This violin holds many memories and no repair shop will fix it.
Cheers, good luck with that
Curious about why the repair shops declined to fix it. Too damaged to be reasonably sure of a good result no matter what the price?
Great video, and nice playing!
Thanks
You are the best💖
Great job there mate 👍🇦🇺
Great repair Keith and nice to be subscribed to a channel who is also musically minded too. Great video mate 👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you
Tidy job dude!
I’m always surprised with how strong wood glue is for this purpose, and for necks, wonderful stuff 👍👍
Cheers Dean
Well, that was different! Very enjoyable.
Thank you
Really enjoyed this! 8-)
Thank you
Good job.
Paul shreds!
Enjoyed this one. A little different.
Thanks
The guitarist ! Liked the end bit jam session 👍😁
👍 love watching him play

Excellent, loved this. When you said you were taking the guitar to dry into the heated house, in my head I heard haunted house. So can you please make a video of you doing some woodwork in a haunted house. Thanks.
I wonder how many Luthiers had a stroke when you pulled out the big cast clamp!
You did a fine job👍
Nice job🎉❤ whats the length of that clamp? That you used?
nice
Add luthier to your long list of skills. Good job!
Good tips! I have a cracked bridge on my Sigma by Martin and have been watching a lot of youtubes to figure out how to fix it. This is very helpful! I like the jig clamp you made with the bandsaw. I just bought a clamp thing from Amazon where the clamp is held by a screw going through the string hole on the bridge. Any concerns about that? Or is that a good idea? Gonna subscribe to support your good efforts!
Thanks. It's not something I've tried but I don't have any concerns
Świetna robota. Greatings from Poland.
Cheers
Nicely done, nothing wrong with your process.. One of the main reasons for using titebond 1 is it can be reversed if someone needs to do work in the future..
Cheers Kerry
How?
@@miki09876 Titebond 1 can be reversed with heat and moisture not as easy as hide glue but can be done.
@@KLWStrings thanks. That'll come in handy
Great repair. Client will be over the moon.
Personally I've more faith in the everbuild glue than the titebond. Found it and their d4 stuff to be the best glue I've used. Had a couple of disappointing results with titebond so started with the everbuild and never looked back.
I think the reason why titebond is favoured for repairs to guitars is that the glue is reversible with heat. I guess if I'd have glued it on backwards like I almost did, that would be a good thing! But yeah the 502 is great 👍
@@RagnBoneBrown I did not know that. Useful to know thanks
Great video. As always.. I actually made a video on this exact subject. 502 v's titebond.. Might be interesting for you..
Okay. You’ve raised the bar. Always end your videos now with you playing the guitar.
Idea, buy a guitar kit from eBay, would love to see you build and learn to use a guitar
ua-cam.com/video/PMuyybDFS4Q/v-deo.html I did
Where is the Keith caster or what ever you called it ? Hope that is still being played
It's in a case in my loft, doesn't get played anymore but keep it for sentimental reasons!
So you can make things, fix things, AND play guitar? Cool!
Thanks!
Something really different! Please feature more repairs, when you do them.
Thank you
Lovely job. Titebond do a little brown bottle of hide glue which you can use cold. I believe the advantage is that you can break the bond later via percussive shock, hence why you'd use it for e.g. a guitar nut and I guess it means the glue breaks rather than the wood which would be good for a bridge. Don't think it's stronger than standard titebond. It has a pretty long working time but it goes out of date fairly quick so don't buy a lot!
Cheers I'll check it out
Where do you get those clamps?
amzn.to/3kHyNWn
You’ve got your own heated house just for drying glue 😃
I would have done it with a belt sander. Maybe that’s why I don’t get any guitar repair jobs!
🤣
this is weird, Keith, but I had that exact same sheet that you're using as a bench padding as paint dropcloth ...
I actually had the same sheet when I was a child too! This one was found in the garage when we moved in though. They were obviously popular!
Lots of vibration. Lots of tension/stress. I wonder how common glue failure is on guitars.
It's pretty common, this is the third I've repaired in my lifetime
I would recommend using the guitar body to sand the glue of the bridge next time as the top of the guitar would have warped and moved over the years It creates a tighter adherence with less air pockets. Important as all the string tension is held on the bridges glue point!
It doesn't need to match the body of the guitar perfectly, wood glue is stronger than the wood itself, so as long as it is clamped well enough it will be more than strong enough
If you've only come here for Dylan, he's not here :(
IMHO, it needs better strings..... 🤣
I was hoping for a bit of Iraq lobster.
Fck me is there nothing you are not good at 😂😂😂😂 give us regular folk a chance 😁
Skip the last nonsense of some fellow who can play NOT playing classical music on a classical guitar. Stay on the video content shown...
Huh?
