About a year ago you helped me figure out how to rebuild an he351 that had been remand by Cummins. It turned out great! You helped me out even though I didn’t buy the rebuild parts from you. Thank you very much! The next turbo project I want you to build me one of your upgraded Hx35s. When the time comes I look forward to doing some business with you!
That's why he is my new turbo parts supplier i was all about OEM cause i figured if my turbo lasted 450k miles it ought to be good kit and figured it it is getting tired by now so I ordered holset kit it barely came with anything his came with every single piece inside the housing and is machined here in the USA with USA materials which is much better than chinese even included lap joint oil seal rings unlike oem does not and hx35 are bad about slobbering oil because of it. In my experience he is a good honest fellow and has experience with a lot of turbos so any turbo advice needed he is the guy to ask.
I bought your rebuild kit for hx35 off ebay and I must say it is a very nice kit I had originally went with a oem holset kit for around 100 dollars because i figured well if this turbo lasted 450k miles surely I need to use the same parts but the problem was all it came with was 4 bolts 2 journals a thrust bearing c clips oil rings and an o ring and that was it I had ordered the kit before tearing down the turbo turns out the internal heat shield was worn on one side from the exhaust housing being loose and was causing it to sit slightly crooked so i ordered a new heat shield from Ebay for 10 dollars turned out to be wrong one and wasnt worth sending back as it took 3 weeks to get I needed something now my truck been down for a month so i finally just said screw it and bought your kit and man I wish I would have went with your kit from the start before wasting all that money it comes with every single piece that is in the bearing housing which I can tell is good quality the gasket material is good made in USA O rings are silicone which are great for high heat applications and best of all the lap joint oil rings cause the OEM ones are not lap joint and mine had slobbered oil for years not a lot but a little
Remember theres is also what you cant see with the naked eye. What material they are made off. Ive been using Melett parts recently, and its a whole difrent ball game. You can feel the weight, less play, and the turbo just keeps spininning.
Excellent video and valuable information, thanks for sharing. Been a gas-driver since 1964 and just bought a 1994 6.5L Turbo Silverado C3500 Dually. I will be giving you call. Subscribed.
I just ordered a kit from turbo lab for hx35 turbo you say the oem holset journals have grooves around them well the supposedly "OEM" kit I got the journals did not have the groove so I'm starting to think I got ripped off and didnt get an oem kit?
Would a knockoff holset turbo have like the holset name on the outside? I'm looking at one on facebook but not to sure if it is fake by just looking at it
How common issue the divider cracking is? I checked after seeing this video and my otherwise genuine hx35 super has that kind of exhaust housing you showed here in this video. Except the divider in mine hasn't been machined at all as it isn't that tall. It is thin as in the video tho. It is going on a car that sees low km's but it is going to be a high boost application, 30+psi.
Great video.. do you know I’d the Chinese compressor housings will fit directly and nicely onto a genuine holset mid section? I ask because I had the idea of buying a Chinese HX40 compressor housing to use on my genuine hx35 so that I could cheaply mod my hx35 into a hx35/40 hybrid.. let me know if you think this is a good idea to try.. if not what is the cheapest way for me to mod my hx35 to a hx35/hx40 hybrid? Thanks in advance!
@@turbolabamerica ok thanks. Could you guys sell me a milled out hx35 turbine housing so it can fit the 64mm 10 blade turbine? I wanna make an hx35/40 hybrid for my cummins
Jacob Hoke the dimensions look same from what I could tell, ours come with the oring groove machined which fits most oem bearing housing with the to4e oring. Some of the oem compressor housings the oring area didn’t machine all the way out because of the casting being offset when machined. If that’s the case I always machine the compressor housing and use a larger oring
How much ? I’m in Canada I have a 3500 dully driving hone yesterday started smoking like crazy !!! Turn out oil was going through turbo and out the exhaust I took the boot off and there’s so much play in the turbine shaft or whatever it’s called it’s unreal anyway it’s my first diesel I need it back on the rd what should I do it’s a 2005 24valve Cummins ! Any hell would be appreciated maybe I can buy a rebuilt one from you off eBay where would I look on eBay for your rebuilt turbos ! ?
I'm about to buy an s14 '98 with an rb25 engine swap with an hx35 holset, I'm gonna watch this video later to ask for the owner detailed pictures of the turbo, the exhaust manifold it's I think kind of ugly, any advice ? Has 300zx brakes, diff, std transmission, ECU swap. Engine never opened, just manifolds swap, running 300hp on stock internals,
Im gonna put the groves in and drill the holes myself if that don't work ill just buy the kit afterwards lol as for the turbine if its fragile heat it an dip it in engine oil till it cools off to temper it at the least i guess lolol
John Parrish I prefer single turbo over compounds. Twin turbo is okay. I don’t like compounds because of forcing air through a smaller turbo. The smaller turbo as a result should have problems much sooner from excess heat but I don’t know that to be true, it just seems logical because the larger turbo is forcing the smaller to to see rpm that it’s not designed to see, in which case it would seeing high temperatures if it was flowing that much as a single turbo setup.
The wastegate should control the shaft speed of the smaller turbo on a compound turbo set up. A sequential turbo set up used a butterfly style valve on the "charge pipe side" in order to controll when the larger turbo is at the same psi as the smaller turbo and doesnt cause feeding issues back into larger turbo at low psi Now your question really shouldnt be psi related as these two set ups are designed to perform extreamly different tasks one (sequential) covers a larger rpm band and makes larger trucks more divable The second being a compound turbo is used to do exactly as it says and compaind the given airflow of a smaller turbo by forcing more than 14.7 psi (sea level) of air into the intake (most compressor maps are set at this 14.7psi) if you double the intake side 29.4 you essentially double the probable output of the smaller compressor wheel each needing to be sized correctly Now where psi and performance may play a better roll is by twin turbo charging you can use a smaller turbo say 2 that flow 35lbs of air at 20psi you would see 70lbs of airflow at 20psi however the 2 turbos have a fixedpower band meaning the set iether low end mid rang or high rpms

Sir, what is more reliable for High Boost: A single turbo running 45psi or a twin sequential turbo set up to run 45 psi???
Great video

Hey man how do I get a hold of you to buy a turbo and I would like to talk I have some questions
How much do you consider high boost ?
do you sell to the UK ?
Do u have any hx35 down pipe adapter for a 6.5 diesel
No
Its ok ill spend the money on a good one
Turbo Lab America
What makes the turbo piss oil out the back like that?
Seals gone in bearing id say
So buy a cheep turbo and rebuild with holeset bearings and all should be good
have to be careful of what metal they use to make the turbines
How to contact you i need hx35 upgrade for my 99 Cummins
Do you sell rebuilt kits for HX35?

Can u do video on hx52
02qk4u racing I don’t have one here to video. The turbine is really heavy, it’s probably 2 lbs.
