Meecool has been notified and aware of users with 5g connection issues , WiFi completely dropping out after 10-20 minutes. They’ve acknowledged that to those who contact them directly and tell them of an upcoming firmware fix possibly . Anyone who owns this try running on5g tonight see if your speeds drop. Or if 5g networks even shows up for you.
Nobody else experienced the issues with this device. Some had remote issues most have cec issues. Wont turn tv n box off n on and same time. And most of all doesn’t support WiFi 6. Even if your router does

We own three KM6 Deluxe. We use them primarily for IPTV services and some streaming services such as Netflix and Prime. Excellent value for $109.
Yes that are pretty good.
ATV version of Netflix requires registering every device model you sell with Netflix and as far as I know there are fees for this. There's also requirement in agreement between Netflix and in this case Mecool where Mecool agrees to sell X number of units. I know that minimum requirement for north america is 1 million devices. That's why you won't see ATV version of Netflix on most chinese boxes.

Got one of these coming in the mail this week to replace a pi 4 in the man cave. Didn't want another Shield and this looks like a good alternative.

@@JoseCarlos-ni1vb One small annoying bug. No matter what I do I cannot get audio when using Disney+. No idea why. But I can get Disney+ through the roku boxes I've collected so no biggie. Other than that I'd recommend it.
Great box. Another very good detailed review. Netflix not working isn't a factor for me - Kodi and a VPN take care of that!

Been told WiFi 6 is defected. May be the SoC. And that it doesn’t read your 5g network in WiFi settings and if it does and you connect 5-10 minutes later signal drops from 200 mbps to down near 10. Runs great on Ethernet obviously. But I don’t own it. I’m looking for more information on this

Most tvs nowadays has built in netflix, that the issue irrelevant for most of us. The mi box has a week hardware, which needs upgrade. It's important having new competitors in the market.
AmLogic got a really nice color spectrum with the x4
Amlogic has the market in these type devices and has gone way past its competition...too bad Amazon doesnt see it and uses probably a cheaper company...

Just saying the s905x4 is mostly about the new free av1 video codec and as seen but not commented, the stats for nerds on UA-cam clips shows codec: av01.
Would have been nice with a direct comparison between av1 and h264/h265 :)

Hey Chigz: With relation to your chart and positioning devices, in part, according to their Antutu benchmark scores. With each new Antutu version seems as if the bar is artificially raised by standard scores rating devices with higher valuations on the same exact devices that scored lower with previous versions of Antutu. So my question is: To get a more realistic sense of Antutu benchmarks, shouldn't all previously rated devices be tested with the very same version of Antutu?? Or are ALL the devices on your chart retested with each new version of Antutu. I understand that you list other factors that are calculated into your final device rating, but Antutu does play a part which could compromise the overall score. If all devices aren't retested with each new version of Antutu, then those scores could be meaningless. Just say'n. Thanks for all you do sir!

Hello, I ordered a mecool km6 deluxe edition 4/64 gb from the official site and installed it yesterday. I have a problem with most of the apps. Google Play Store is not working. It says an error: Check your WI-FI or get a notification when your connection comes back
Anyone contemplating buying the KM6 should be aware of some of the deficiencies of the KM6. It took me a lot of hack workarounds to make the TV box tolerable.
1.) By default, the remote control must be used for all navigation, microphone communications and screenshots. Yet the remote is not rechargeable.
2.) The KM6 doesn't support the use of an external mic, although the native remote control mic can only listen for 30 seconds at a time. Good luck trying to do any dictation or voice recording with that.
3.) There is no "Hey Google" feature, just Android TV's Google Assistant, and it doesn't understand all the commands of stock Google Assistant.
4.) Only the native file manager can write to or delete from external storage, but it's incapable of network transfers. So you'll need an additional network file manager to transfer from a computer to a KM6's external drive.
5.) The KM6 lacks the Private DNS feature of stock Android 10.
6.) Sideloaded apps cannot be added to the homescreen Favorites list without a hack.
5. Is it possible to use a private dns under the WiFi connection settings?
6. Has Netflix been licensed for this box in 2023?

km6 has a newer chipset. 905x4. about 20% more processing power.
You won't see difference in Netflix whatsoever... But I can't say the same for Kodi. If your into that.
Yeah, Netflix is a deal breaker. I did notice you didn't use the 3 pre-installed buttons for UA-cam,Prime Video and Google Store, were they working was this missed by mistake?
All work yes, Google and Prime only show or work in HD, not 4K.

Actually we have modded nexflisk both for mobile(max 1080p, need air mouse) and atv(max 480p, can use stock remote), still good if mecool could manage this nexflixk compatibility issue (which of course hard because nexflixk company is too picky and heavy sided to allow their service on certain devices)..

Nothing plays games like a Playstation or Xbox, these devices even the Shield are 90% made for streaming, you want a gaming device get a gaming device not a streaming device that plays games, everything does it's own thing well, so why not get the best if your going to game, then get a $40 TiVo Stream 4K just for streaming.

Great review as usual, thanks. Did I miss something? Why did this start off getting number 3 on your charts and now finds itself number 5 under the older reviewed Beelink King and MINIX NEO U22-XJ? Thanks to anyone who can clarify.
It's a matter of numbers in tests, which overall does not mean one is better than the other, it's #3 because in real life testing plus the apks that tests the numbers pushes it there, without Netflix support it's 3rd not 2nd. I have a couple devices lower on his numbers list, but in real life use with all the apks and things I do with them daily, they are just as fast as any device on his list, but if you use antutu or something else they will be lower on the list. example the antutu for the Shield is over 200,000 yet when using the many movie, tv show and other apks I use, it's no faster than his top half dozen boxes, it's just the test app makes it look and sound twice as fast when it really is not, just how the testing works out.

It doesn't come with Amazon prime video preload or BBC iPlayer or Netflix , plus Google play store don't many applications for this TV box like Amazon prime video, BBC iPlayer and so , plus Mecool don't reply my email.

I got one but it has issues. After shutting down, it won't restart with the remote, I have to unplug the power to restart it. Upon restart, the WIFI fails to automatically connect 90% of the time. It also had some conflict with my Yamaha AV receiver. It would run fine for 90 minutes or so and then the picture would start glitching. Also the fake woodgrain top fell off.
AFAIK, this box should support auto frame rate in all apps, even in those which don't support it (bypassing google api). Does it work well?

Interesting box some good specs but the big stumbling block with all these Chinese Android boxes they will never get Amazon Prime, Netflix, Disney and the rest supported or it would have happened by now and most fail on good product support from once you buy the box that's it no updates or bug fixes to the firmware!!! I just got myself a second Nvidia Shield 🛡 just before Xmas I'm more than happy, that's the way to go I feel if you want good product support with regular updates and offical app support if you wanna deal with the streaming big guns keep up the good work as always my man.
if you watch the video, Disney Plus and Prime Video work perfectly. I am pretty sure Dazon works as well. Netflix remains the only black sheep.

Does the KM6 Deluxe supports surround Sound (5.1) / (dolby, etc.) pass through? Especially when streaming IPTV.
Some say it supports that function while other (e.g. geekbuying) tell their customers it's not able with this box. Mecool customer service don't respond to customer questions.
i got an Yamaha RX-V... AV receiver and a 5.1 surround System which is connected to my Samsung TV (connect box) via SPDIF/optical cable and i wanna get sure i am able to use my Sound System while watching IPTV.? If it only supports that function through HDMI it wouöd be okay too. Sadly theres no concrete information from Mecool - many people use a setup like mine (AV-receiver) for surround sound, so that info would help many others too..

🚨🚨 was advised of WiFi 6 issue. And trouble reading the 5g network in settings and if it eventually does read it and connects. The WiFi connection drops almost immediately 5-10 minutes . In his case from 200 mbps to 10! Claims this is a known issue 🤔. Any owners please test and respond back would appreciate it. I’ve only heard good things. But. Being gigabyte lan I’d assume not many using WiFi at all... feedback please

Chigz....question. Boxes with the S905X3 are readily available at Amazon in the states whereas the ones with the S905X4 as far as I can tell are only available overseas. Is the S905X4 a big enough improvement to warrant getting it over the S905X3? Thanks
You can feel the difference. X4 feels faster and smoother in operation.

My Mecool KM6 doesn't show the home screen when the Wi-Fi is off. Is this what it's supposed to be?
The KM6 has probably been updated since you asked, but the current KM6 displays the homescreen even when WiFi is disabled and displays a warning indicating that it's turned off.
How pricey could be that netflix license? My mi box s had audio delay on 5.1(android tv still sucks audio reliability wise) so I just got a used old samsung bluray player with netflix for 15 bucks and problem solved. Probably small companies can't make the deals that big names does or can't even access to that license at all. Who knows...

Try the Android TV version of Netflix? It's on APK mirror, I suspect it still won't work as Netflix individually approve devices not just if it has the correct Widevine.
