- Here is a beautiful vocalise by Saint-Saëns which I am currently obsessed with! I will be debuting this piece in concert with orchestra this summer at the Rossini Opera Festival.

For some reason this had escaped me, although I listen to everything you deign to bestow on us, dear Lisette. Omg, those trills ! You could count on the fingers of one hand (and probably have some left to spare) the number of sopranos who can actually manage today to sing two real, distinct notes, in that breathtakingly rapid succession, as clean and dazzling as the perfect fire of the fingers on the keyboard of an Evgeny Kissin, for example... And I don't even mention the musicality of your phrasing for that is an eternal given; that was how I fell in love with your voice...
Absolute vocal poetry... (with perfect intonation, full harmonics, delicious trills and gorgeous phrasing!) Wow!!!

Having played this piece many times for Coloraturas, this is quite finite ... expression is felt, trills are pretty and bird like, and simply phenomenal.
This is a masterclass in singing. I return to this video every time I feel that my voice is betraying me and you give me the courage to continue. You are a true artist, thank you for sharing your charisma

Dearest Lisette: The biggest compliment we can give you that this is the best version since the legendary German soprano Rita Streich (1920-1987), who was half Russian by the way. In Dutch we would say: "Werkelijk beeldschoon". Or : Absolutely stunning.
And so says my mother (91 now) , who saw Rita Streich perform in hér thirties, like you now. Love from the Netherlands.
And your breathcontrol.....absolutely perfect. See Rita Streich on UA-cam with the Rossignol and the Rose (provider inca48), maybe over half a century ago (no year on my LP, guess sixties).......So happy you took the torch from her. " You deserve it. Héél veel dank! " (Thanks so much)
I now notice that 8 years ago I gave a similar comment to Rita Streich! With 67 she died too young, but she left an enormous amount of records.
