    I have this same motor on my honda branded mower. Same problems. Would've been an easy jet cleaning but my dumbass dropped the jet and could never find it again. bought a whole new carb for $15. Purrs like a kitten. Looking forward to your diag/repair.

    I like mowers that have that garden hose connection. Makes cleaning the underside super easy. Just turn the water on and let the mower run for a min or two. Wish mine was that way. Keep on keepin' on. God bless.

    Hi my first time watching you video, and I liked how you were talking about how most young kids wouldn't know how important it is to fix stuff, they would rather throw it away and buy new, I enjoy repairing lawn mowers and snow blowers its fun, plus i'm keeping them out of the landfill and giving them at second chance to be used again, its crazy how much stuff humans as a society throw stuff away.

    • @Fixologist1
      @Fixologist1  10 місяців тому +1

      Yessir! I've even thought about letting some of the neighborhood boys hang out while we wrench on stuff. They gotta learn somehow, right?

    • @Dave7160
      @Dave7160 10 місяців тому

      That's right, if you ever get a john deere lawn mower with a kawasaki engine on it thats worth keeping I use 2 of them plus a real honda lawn mower, im saving the planet 1 snow blower 1 lawn mower at a time, going green these mowers will be the throw away the fans where the blades are attached if the nipples break off the blade will keep spinning and you can't just buy the 1 peice you have to replace the whole mower.@@Fixologist1

    Brad you might try some old guitar strings of same diameter or little bit smaller. If possible, use the wound strings. Good luck, always a fun show to watch you learn.

    I'm really loving these small engine repairs you do Brad. Most people have no idea on how about doing this work. Hence getting some great deals, in this case from a local seller. It ended up running like a new mower once you gave it the old
    once over maintenance . $40 seems like a steal when you consider you can buy one for $200 right now.

    Make sure you clean the pilot jet, inside the Philips screw on top of carb. Sometimes a black cap under the idle screw. Will cause surging if clogged.

    A can of barrymans carb dip is a lifesaver to have in your garage..just chuck all those parts in and forget about it for a day. Take it out and rinse it off.. no crud will survive..neither will any o-ring lol..needs a full kit to rebuild sometimes.

    Sharpen those blades! i like use a handheld grinder with a flap wheel disc. Then take a fine file to it! Be careful filing though because one slip and if the blade is sharp enough you'll get got like i did a couple weeks ago.😌

    There are gas stations selling Un ethanol that is not! Gas does not last more than a few months. I had the same issue with my echo edger and just ordered a new carb online. It was less than thirty dollars with a spark plug, fuel tank lines and filter. I didn't even have to adjust it!

    Another nice save!👍 What is the green cylinder sricking up from the mower deck, carb side? Also, what fluid do you use in the ultra sonic?

    • @Fixologist1
      @Fixologist1  10 місяців тому +1

      Cylinder is a hose hookup for cleaning the underside of the deck. I use those only when I've just cut the grass with a clean deck. This was was caked for a long time.

    I use ethanol free gas and have been for the last few years and I'm lucky enough to have 2 stations that I know of one within 4 miles and the other one 8 miles away I go to the one that's less than 4 miles away and it's high octane I think about 91 to 93 octane.

    All the Wawa's in my area have non-ethenol. Its usually on the 2 farthest outside islands, with a blue nozzle. Of course it recently cost me 9 bucks to fill a 2 gallon can😡. If they can't directly regulate it out of existence, they will try to price it out of existence. FJB!

    Serious question. How do you dispose of old gas? I know auto parts stores and oil change places take oil, but what about gas??

    • @Fixologist1
      @Fixologist1  10 місяців тому

      I haven't been doing this long enough to know, but I assume they'll take old gas just like old oil. And if they say they won't, just mix the old gas in with your old oil.

    With the repairs you did on this and what you bought it for, what would you start your asking price on that mower listing it on FaceBook market place in your area?

    • @Fixologist1
      @Fixologist1  8 місяців тому

      Ones like this with mulcher, no self-propel, and a bagger, $120-$140, something like that.

    • @chadfield376
      @chadfield376 8 місяців тому

      @@Fixologist1 Sounds good; I recently bought a 22in Toro recycler 2010 model with self-propell. Paid $40 for it. So far will need new carb (current carb too far ethanol corroded to clean properly), drive belt, and air filter (about $60 in parts right off); will be looking to ask $180 for it next spring.

    You have royally messed up by publishing all of these curb finds. Everyone in your area are now going to get your money by putting the stuff up on FB Marketplace. LOL. Oh, well good buy nonetheless.

    • @huddyskiba1
      @huddyskiba1 10 місяців тому +1

      There are tons of curb pickers in my area than just drive around for hours looking something to make out of nothing. It’s probably more convenient to pay someone $40 and know you’re going to get something that’s likely worthwhile - though probably not nearly as exciting.

    • @Fixologist1
      @Fixologist1  10 місяців тому

      I think my area is just affluent enough to have people with regular jobs who can afford to just buy a new one, and there aren't a ton of people driving around every week looking like I do for this stuff.
