Maybe it's because I love old Lincolns and my Grandfather (Dad's side) had a '75 LeSabre Coupe, but I definitely prefer these to the Cadillacs of the era (not that I am putting those down). As far as GMs, I love many old Buicks most. I need to find a '75 LeSabre Convertible in Indigo with a white roof, and a white and blue interior.
@owlnswan4016 These cars are on par with Cadillac! First and foremost.. they're on the same platform and made by GM! Go back and look at all GM cars starting in the 20s to the 80s! I'd say Cadillac, Oldsmobile / Buick, Chevrolet, then Pontiac, as far as opulencein a car!
Honestly, you look at this and you look at a contemporary Cadillac and other than prestige I can't see passing over the Park Avenue for the Cadillac. Use can use the savings for gas.
Maybe it's because I am into old Lincolns first, and my Grandfather (Dad's side) had a '75 LeSabre Custom Coupe, but I agree with you vs the Cadillac. Beautiful land yacht. I drove one, still had pretty good power even with the post-'72 detuning, and real good torque. Whisper quiet and so, so smooth. I bet it would be a great long-distance ride (other than the mpg's). As for a '76 Caddy, a would also be happy with a Fleetwood Brougham with the 500cid. Can't go wrong with either. I like them both.
Got to know my local Buick dealer back in 1976 and he showed the dealership order guide book. I was stunned to learn that many of the options that I thought were a Cadillac exclusive were available on the Electra. Automatic Climate Control, Guide-matic Headlamp Control, Cadillac's Twilight Sentinel, Automatic Level Control; and a whole lot more. I was most impressed by the equipment available if you were planning to tow a trailer with your Buick. Thank you for your awesome car video tours C K. 👍
You could also get GM’s innovative safety feature they called the ACR or “Air Cushion Restraint”….. or what we call airbags today. Dual airbags were available on this car for $1500!!!
@@stangslayerws6 I definitely agree with you about the steering wheel it was pretty ugly alright. I don't know what G.M. was thinking. You have some beautiful cars but this Park Avenue is to die for. It doesn't have the center console. I saw a '75 Park Avenue with one. I thought the center console was a standard Park Avenue feature. Absolutely beyond gorgeous!! Way better than a Caddy.
The hardtop styling is really sharp. Could you get automatic climate control on the Electra? It still blows my mind that a few years earlier you could get an Electra with dual airbags, and I think traction control! Mercedes had a similar setup with their power antenna through 1990. The switch was a rocker, that would latch on up / down if pressed firmly. In the neutral position the antenna would extend most of the way, and you could touch it to up / down to tune for better reception. You could also click the switch into up, which would fully extend the antenna, or down which would retract it (if you were listening to a tape or going through a car wash). That was elliminated for the 91 model year, along with the 2nd pump in the automatic trans that enabled push starting.
When you re-chrome the bumpers do you take the rubber off them and then reattach them later with the same rubber or do you get new rubber? If so, where do you get the rubber? Did you re-chrome the window trim as well as the panels on the bottom of the car?
Looks amazing! Have one just like it in mahogany. Where did you get the quarter extensions? I have a replacement pair but not satisfied with the way they fit.
That's because you need to cut them in approx 5 different places and fiberglass them back together to make them fit properly. None of the aftermarket ones fit right. They all have to be modified

Buick had to do this as Cadillac also because Olds 98 was beating Electra in 72 with the Intro of the 98 Regency which was more luxurious than Cadillac or Electra. 98 also had more HP and faster speeds and handling than Electra. I agree however that both Electra and 98 GM made excellent cars in this era. Today is junk from China and looks the same.

The 75 had a different front-end, would that explain the 1/10th inch difference in length?
Coupled with the bumper guards most likely yes
Well done! What engine does the car have? It doesn't look like a big block, but I'm not great at ID'ing them with a quick glance.
455
She's a beaut! Love it!
Thank you it was definitely a labor of love and thank you for watching
Love this car!
Thank you for the con words I love all of my Buicks as well
Beautiful Car; this is when Detroit KNEW how to design cars.
Bill Mitchell definitely had it together when he was on these cars
Do you still do engine detailing as in this video? Not sure where you are in the country though.
I do my personal cars that I own. I don't do other people's cars
@@stangslayerws6 Thanks. Have one other question....you mentioned in the video you replaced (?) the floor mats with originals. Do you remember where you got them?
Thanks!
I wonder if this car is available for purchase? I would be interested in it.
Sorry it is not for sale
@@stangslayerws6 Rats! It’s beautiful!
I had 75 blue with white vinyl Park Ave.
WOW WHAT A GREAT JOB- LOVEIT
Thanks for the kind words hope you enjoyed watching
I would like to compliment you on all of your flawless electras. And amazed of your hard work commitment and knowledge of Electras. I have a question for you, are the two door electra the same length as the four door electra? Just curious.keep up the good work!
Yes they are. However, by 75 and 76 the coupes were no longer hardtops which was available 71-74
I miss American luxury cars. Sadly, luxury today doesn't even come close to cars like this.
I have to sadly agree
Good morning. When you go to buy one of these vehicles what condition do you buy them in? Are they already in pristine condition? I bought one two years ago and it was in rough shape. I thought I would be able to find parts for mine easily enough but in Canada I guess i was diluted. Going to have to sell it I am afraid.
@@RichardGee-b8n I have restored all three of my Electras to some degree. However, my Estate Wagon is completely original. Good 🤞 to you
I owned 2 of them great cars to drive
Indeed
I opened my eyes in this world in those years... And how can I drive modern Chinese havals or bestunes as a best cars of modern reality? Just tell me???
Why no Cli-matron Heat and AC ? But such a beautiful car. Even sitting still it looks moving. Much rather have this than pillard Talisman
Automatic climate control was a option. It was never standard on any Electra including Park Avenue
Beautiful car
Thanks and thank you for watching
Stunning
Thank you so much that means a lot and thank you for watching
Great classic. No window divider
Sweet whitewalls!
Difficult to find and difficult to keep clean thanks for watching
Buick had to do this as Cadillac also because Olds 98 was beating Electra in 72 with the Intro of the 98 Regency which was more luxurious than Cadillac or Electra. 98 also had more HP and faster speeds and handling than Electra. I agree however that both Electra and 98 GM made excellent cars in this era. Today is junk from China and looks the same.
By 1976 the Electra had more horsepower than both the Olds 455 and the Cadillac 500
Nice! What is a car like that worth?
Probably nowhere near what I paid to restore it 😂
It felt like 60 at 120mph, so smoooth.
