Wolves' Financial Fair Play Headaches Explained

  • It's been a summer of genuine upheaval for Wolves but on and off the field, with a number of key players departing in an attempt to balance the books alongside the exit of Julen Lopetegui from the dugout amidst stories of broken promises and fractured relationships between him and members of the Wolves board.
Stepping into the breach has been Gary O'Neil following the end of his association with Bournemouth and whilst there remains a sense of uncertainty behind the scenes, the early signs of his tenure appear to be generally positive.
Hopefully this video gives a greater sense of perspective over the financial landscape at Wolves to those without partisan knowledge of the club. Please do let me know what you think of the video in the comments below; I'd love to have the feedback of Wolves fans and neutrals alike.
    Cheers,
    Dan

A very good balanced summing up of Wolves current position. I only wish the current Wolves ownership were as honest. 🐺🐺🐺

Excellent explanation about how my team the Wolves find themselves in at the moment. From Jeff Shi’a statement of a few weeks ago that this season was going to be one of consolidation of trying to stay in the Premiership.I must say I was very impressed with your Vlog.Well done 👏👍

Great summary mate of Wolves since 2016, particularly like the Lopetegui comparison to other managers in that he seemed to think he was doing us a favour by being there, shows the arrogance of the man and spot on!
    Great vlog!

The only thing about this video which is incorrect is when Fosun took over in 2016. Julen had actually agreed to become manager. But Spain called at the same time and he chose to manage his country, which TBF no body can moan at. Great video 👍👏

Good comments about Wolves and how it came about Julian L appointment and resignation you hit the nail on the head the way he went about being a manager which made him think wolves long term was not for him. He was paid a astronomical salary to come to wolves and thought he deserved an open cheque book to buy new players. The test of his experience would have been to stay at wolves and achieve success in the Premier League thereby showing how good a manager he was. You only have to look at his record that looks good on paper but doesn’t stay long term in developing the club to greater ambitions A very good analysis you make of wolves thank you.

Good video - nice to see someone outside the Wolves fanbase actually doing a bit of research on what's going on here. Could've even gone a bit deeper into whether we are really suffering the constraints of FFP or whether it's a convenient excuse to mitigate what's going on in China and the implications on Fosun as a result - much of the fanbase at Wolves appreciates FFP has had some impact, but not quite to the degree Fosun would have the fans believe. Thanks again - appreciate the vid!

I think we might have been out of our depth with Lopetegui. We were desperate to stay in the Prem and he did the job but it was just never going to be sustainable. Now we have a manager who wants to make his mark with Wolves and with some clever signings I think we will be on a better path.

But we want to spend spend spend ! 40, 50, 200 million pounds now.
Unfortunately we don’t raise enough income because we are NOT a big city club, we can not compete.

Big fan of HLTCO and the regular uploads on the UA-cam channel recently. I'm in the process of starting my own podcast atm (not football related) and was just wondering if you had any advice for getting used to speaking to camera and speaking to guests. As someone with a disability like yourself I'd really appreciate any advice you might have.

Absolutely bollocks in many many parts and you have zero knowledge of the Wolves finances and restrictions and ffp, I will correct you about JL and he agreed the Wolves job way before Nuno etc and it was only once his national team came calling he changed his mind and somewhat understandable.
A job of the manger is exactly that and it’s not just about and endless budget to sign whom you like, you mention several managers who failed at Spurs & Man Utd because the budget wasn’t endless 😂 but was vast but still failed.
Look at the career of JL sacked at how many clubs and won 1 major trophy in recent time and ask yourself why Barca, Utd, City, Chelsea, Milan, PSG, Dortmund, Bayern, etc etc were not knocking his door down ? He kept Wolves up agreed but it was a win win for him.
Wolves are better off without him and he’s was as it showed in the end and his interviews not fit for a great club like Wolves, no man is bigger than the club so like nunes jog on pal you were never fit for the role.

At the time Fosun bought Wolves Lopetegui had none of the credentials you mentioned. He was going to coach Wolves when the Spanish National team came calling. Wolves graciously let him take that opportunity without complaining.
It set Wolves project back a year.

    @10:21 I genuinely don't understand this mentality.
It's so pathetic and weak it's infuriating.
Taking pride in losing. To be "credible opposition," it sounds like the thought of beating the 'big clubs' isn't even a consideration.
It's so accepting of the status quo...it's...I don't get it.
