I didn't know about her affair with Andy Griffith. I am saddened to hear that she had such horrible personal problems in her life. She was a very beautiful woman.
One thing I am sure of is that Ryan O'Neal was and is a very cruel man, not only to Joanna but to Tatum as well. It would be safe to say, RYAN O'NEAL IS A MONSTER.
Look how he treated Tatum at Farrah's funeral! He didn't recognize his own daughter and tried to put the moves on her. I think Farrah supported his worthless behind before and after she died.
Let's not forget how Ryan O'neal kicked the shit out of his son Griffin on a regular basis and managed to parent Redmond into prison and psychosis. Ryan O'Neal was a monster and it's a shame there's no afterlife because he'd be rotting in hell.
I heard about Andy and the woman who played Miss Crump having an affair but I had no idea there was any involvement with Joanna. She and Andy had so much chemistry and I always believed she should have been a regular on that show.
After what I’ve repeatedly read about Andy Griffith AND Ryan O’Neal, her drug problems may not be the issue. The drinking and drugs were likely a symptom of her addiction to poor choices in abusive men. Don’t know about the other ones, but those two had some of the worst reputations for their mean, nasty, cold and entitled behavior.
When Joanna had custody of the kids she was using drugs heavily and had at least one boyfriend who was too young for her. During this time she was neglecting the kids. They stayed in a closet for a while. I don’t know whose I’dea that was. She didn’t feed them. She was too busy with her boy toy and the drugs. I know that Ryan O’Neill was abusive to Tatum and Griffin when he had custody of them. I think Griffin got more abuse than Tatum. I also believe that the kids’ drug problems started when they were living with their dad. When Ryan developed a relationship with Farrah Fawcett he moved into her house and left the kids by themselves in his house. The kids were still minors. Andy Griffith was a womanizer. He engaged in lots of extra-marital stuff with a lot of women. He mostly had a grumpy personality. He didn’t like to meet fans. He was actually very rude to fans that saw him and wanted a photo with him or an autograph. He was an alcoholic and had a hot temper with a short fuse. And there was domestic violence between him and first wife Barbara. I’m not sure if it happened to his 2nd and 3rd wives or to any of his flings and affairs.
I’m not saying she didn’t make bad choices and this is in no way making excuses for her because we’re all ultimately responsible for our own actions but her traumatic childhood probably was largely the reason for her substance abuse and her failed marriages. Again I’m just saying that’s probably the reason but in no way an excuse.
@@cindyb8775 - Andy was abusive. He and his first wife Barbara had some pretty bad fights. He had a hot temper and apparently also had a short fuse. He was destructive when he was angry. He broke his hand by punching a hole in the wall at his house during a fight with Barbara in 1962. His hand was bandaged in 2 consecutive episodes Aunt Bee the Warden and The County Nurse. The writers wrote it into the show by saying that he got into a tussle with moonshiners that he was arresting. He is also known for punching the windshield of a car and shattering it and for destroying a hotel room.
@@edmondcamp2878 - I believe her childhood trauma contributed to her drug addiction. She was little (I believe between 5-10 when her parents and sister were involved in a car accident. She wasn’t with them. Her mother and sister died right away. Her father died a year later from the injuries he got in the accident. After that she lived with her grandmother for a while and then a family adopted her. And somehow in a different car accident from the one that killed her family, she lost 2 or 3 of her fingers on one hand.

What a doll back in the day. The kind of women that would make a guy's heart melt. I had a huge crush on her back in the " I dream of Genie" days.
I also liked the county nurse (not the one who tried giving Rafe Hollister his shot but the other one). The best looking one was Ellie and the ex girlfriend who got lost in the woods.
I read Tatum O’Neill’s biography and Joanna should have stayed married to her first husband back in Georgia who was a decent man but she chose to leave him and go to Hollywood. It was sad to read about how she raised Tatum...

Moore caused quite a stir in the Griffith household back in the 60s. A former writer for Danny Thomas and "close friend" of Griffith once told a store tabloid that Griffith had "vicious arguments" with his wife over Moore, and that one episode of the show depicting Andy with a broken arm, actually began after Griffith punched a wall in his house following an argument with his wife. Contrary to popular belief, there were more women than Moore and Corsaut in Griffith's harem of Mayberry!

An important role for Moore was as a prostitute named "Precious" in 1962's Walk on the Wild Side with Laurence Harvey. Andy Griffith squired a lot of women both on and off the Andy Griffith show. Everyone in Mayberry was single except for Otis, the town drunk. Andy Griffith was not too keen on the institution of marriage.
Mayor Pike was married. A couple was married. Andy made them come to the courthouse and call one another sweetie and honey after they constantly fought.. Floyd was married early on but his wife passed away. Mr and Mrs Selby were married and everyone thought he died. He came back and both he and Andy went to the Mayberry Cemetery and looked at his tombstone. He said that was the biggest funeral the town ever had.

If you want to be gullible and believe everything that Google, Facebook, UA-cam, and Wikipedia say about the true Christian celebrities that's negative and false, that's your choice. I thought Andy was a stand up guy Never though he would be doing that sort of thing. Who knew. I sill love the show . And thank You for sharing your video. 👍👍
Joanna was a beautiful woman. Tatum has a lot of her features.
Tatum O Neal’s mother! So pretty!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I always saw Joanna Moore on a lot of westerns. She was a beautiful woman. I learned she was Tatum O'Neal's mother from reading Tatum's memoir. I was shocked to learned that Joanna had an affair with Andy Griffith. I was also shocked to learn that Ryan O'Neal was Joanna Moore's third husband. I always thought he was her first. Great video!!!😊😊😊
JOANNA MOORE NEVER HAD AN AFFAIR WITH ANDY GRIFFITH!!!! He was a true born again Christian and he was very happily married!
@@lynettepalecek3141 Trust me I didn't wanna believe Andy Griffith cheated. I only went by the what the video stated. Most of the time Facts Verse videos be true. Whether Andy Griffith cheated or not, he wasn't perfect. That doesn't change my opinion of him. I liked him and he was a great actor😊😊😊

To find out what kind of mother Joanna Moore was, please read Tatum O'Neals book. Eye-opening! Tatum's father, Ryan O'Neal, was even worse. Very cruel indeed.
😭😭so sad such a talented person....addiction is a hard thing to deal with I completely understand R.I.P Miss Moore💜💜
I'd believe it.
read he was angry with the south for killing JFK and punched a wall when he found out .
@@barbaradavis4919 the South didn't kill JFK any more than CA killed RFK
@@barbaradavis4919 , no, he was mad because his wife was calling him to the carpet for taking on yet another mistress-Moore!

I really adored Joanna in the role of Miss Peggy! She wasi perfect for it & so wished she wouldn’t have left. She had the best personality of all Andy’s girlfriends & even being a huge fan of the show & still watching reruns today, I had no idea they had an affair on the show or Helen either for that matter. Looks like Helen won out all the way around. So sad to hear Joanna had a hard time of it & died too young! ❤️
I didn't know she was from Georgia. I was born bred and still living in Georgia. Been here all of my life
An important role for Moore was as a prostitute named "Precious" in 1962's Walk on the Wild Side with Laurence Harvey. Co-starring in this film is former model Capucine and Jane Fonda in her second screen appearance. Barbara Stanwick plays a lesbian madame. Anne Baxter (Eve in All About Eve) and Junita Moore (Annie in Imitation of Life) are in it too. It truly is a walk on the wild side!
Joanna Moore was A true beauty.
I thought that name was familiar. She was married to Ryan O'Neal. I think anyone remotely related to Ryan had to be a drug addict.
She was beautiful. Tatum looks like her
Anyone married to Ryan O'Neal, had to be a brave person. From Ms. Harper Stacey.
That Andy was a regular hound dog.....lol

Poor Tatum had a hard life no decent mother or father
What happened to the fingers lost part? Thanks for wasting my time
Joanna was totally deaf for a short time from a disease. She got her hearing back a surgical procedure.
Interesting, thanks for sharing this info. Good thing that her hearing came back and she didn't wind up permanently deaf.
@@FactsVerse She lost her hearing for almost 2 years, but during this time, she learned to read lips. You didn't mention her losing her fingers from an auto accident when she was dui, either.
I remember her in the Steve McQueen film, “ Nevada Smith “ !
The Widow Poe, Martin Landau's character's widow?
@@williamfuller2389 Exactly. "You might call me the widow Coe." 1966's "Nevada Smith" is also the last major Hollywood movie with a screenplay by John Michael Hayes (who wrote the screenplay for Hitchcock's great "Rear Window") that was produced. And til now, "Nevada Smith" is missing in action, no blu-ray release of this Western with a great cast of actors.

No didn't know she had an affair w Griffith. But that was her personal business. I think she was beautiful inside & out & a great actress. her addiction is a disease. I really get her & loved her. RIP JOANNA MOORE :(
I thought Andy was such a sweetheart till I found out he was a womanizer. My dad was married to my mom 63 years and I measure all men by him.

Something jumps out here. Miss Barbara Eden, Miss Joanna Moore, and Miss Susan Oliver were all Blonde Dreamboats who beguiled Andy Griffith onscreen. Actually the Women could have been Triplets owing much to their facial and physical resemblances!😘🎤💃💃💃📺B.W.
Was that her voice when she sang on Andy Griffith's porch? I play that episode quite often. Why didn't she become a professional singer?
You must remember Andy Griffith was also known to be cruel, and overpowering falling out of favor with Actors and Actresses, strange how he Gave Barney Fifth so many lines....so Joanna was somewhat destroyed by Andy Griffith's rejection and Joanna could not handle it and Ryan was the Same with Joanna...and Ryan's rejection and Andy's live rejection too hit her and bleed into her family...note how her children with Ryan went into drugs to....He was a lousy husband and Father more interested in his fame than family...
Joanna Moore always had positive remarks about her tenure on that show. She was already engaged to O'Neal and married him shortly after leaving the show because she was pregnant with Tatum O'Neal.
Andy disowned his adopted son because his son was an alcoholic. Andy was an alcoholic too.
@@michaelbarnhart2593 she had "positive remarks" because back in those days if you told the truth about philandering Griffith, your career was toast.
Eleanor Donahue can attest to that after she bad-mouthed Griffith once in 1970.

Yes, she is. We're glad to know that you have a new info about Joanna Moore!
How could Andy have a fling with Anita Coursault before Joanna Moore since Joanna was on the show first? You guys get stuff wrong on EVERY video you put out!
I remember her in a episode of McCloud, she was a real class act, but Andy? Ugh
I seen her in a biker movie on TCM on late night underground she even sang in it.
I certainly didn't know she was Tatum's mom.
Anyone that has seen the movie "A face in the crowd" knows the real Andy Griffith......He did understand small town people, and what would appeal to their sense of morals. It didn't mean he was the same.
Ryan O'Neal and my father were a lot alike, in fact Tatum O'Neal and myself suffered similar fates. My mother was like Joanna, a very sweet and beautiful woman who didn't deserve to be treated like shit, but she put up with it when she should have gone to the police a number of times.
Peggy was my favorite!!!! Helen was so boring.... So very sad for her.. She was just beautiful!!!! Ryan Oneal is a terrible father!!!!
We're a big fan of Peggy too. Which episode of the show appealed to you the most?
Correction Joanna Moore would have been the first affair on the show because Aneta Corsaut came after Joanna Moore was already gone. S3E10 "Opies Rival" was the last of Joanna's 4 episode run starting S3E2. Aneta's First appearance was S3E23 "Andy Discovers America".
Facts Verse is ALWAYS making mistakes!! Uggghk.

Andy Griffin, such a nice guy on screen and a total jerk off screen. What shame. One of the best shows on TV ever. He is quoted to say: "The best work I've ever done is Matlock". Funny, I don't even watch that show.
