  • Not certain what was buried in the sand. Looked like a Tote or electric vault of some sort ? Assumed tide washed it into Bay.

Thanks for the view. I flew PC-12’s in Alaska in 2023, and flew past Augustine daily. I always wondered what it was like up close and on the ground.

Kinda neat being on such a big Island and knowing you are the only Human on it.🤔

Now that is real backcountry flying. Love your style and precision. You look like you know your aircraft better than most us will in a lifetime.

Dog gonnit!! Now there you go again with the great stuff! Have some pity on we mortals who don’t get out to the hinterlands as much as you do! Wow. At the risk of repeating myself…. EPIC!

Not every body stops to look and understand the cloud "stuck" on the top of a peak like this. If you gaze at it long enough, you will realize that the mountain is "pumping" the cloud - creating the cloud in real time. As the cooler wind blows onto the peak, the moisture around the peak condenses forming the cloud. And as the air current continues to push the cloud, usually to the east, the cloud evaporates. It forms and un-forms right in front of your eyes, if you watch closely. I have a peak much like that right next to my house, and I see it quite frequently. Sometimes it will happen in reverse - the air is warmer hitting the cooler moisture on the peak - dew point is still reached, and the cloud forms and un-forms with the prevailing wind current.

Yes you are absolutely right. 👍 A mountain wave causing a standing lenticular cloud.

The mountain looked like a small Mt . Rainer Beautiful views with the little red cub. Thanks for posting

Nice video, beautiful place, just noted a 4.0 magnitude quake and wondered if the volcano was up to something again.

Glad I wasn't on the Volcano (Island) for that Earth Quake.

This video was early July. The 2006 picture was in Jan (full on winter).
