Not every body stops to look and understand the cloud "stuck" on the top of a peak like this. If you gaze at it long enough, you will realize that the mountain is "pumping" the cloud - creating the cloud in real time. As the cooler wind blows onto the peak, the moisture around the peak condenses forming the cloud. And as the air current continues to push the cloud, usually to the east, the cloud evaporates. It forms and un-forms right in front of your eyes, if you watch closely. I have a peak much like that right next to my house, and I see it quite frequently. Sometimes it will happen in reverse - the air is warmer hitting the cooler moisture on the peak - dew point is still reached, and the cloud forms and un-forms with the prevailing wind current.

Yeah, so I never knew something like that was possible. Looks like about 50' for landing and 75' for takeoff. Maybe less. I'm impressed. Makes me want to do it too!

@@AKCub907 Wow, I can see why you love them. It's so amazing. My thought is that because you can get the speed down for landing, it seems, then injuries are much less pronounced in the event of a mishap. Is this true for taking off? It seems speeds for take off are also very slow, by comparison.

Ok, I have a story. My dad flew Grumman TBMs in WW2 and also in Korean war along with Corsairs . He was given a mission to fly 2 Army covert intelligence persons into North Korea, land on the beach and pickup the 2 intel persons they were replacing. This was in the TBM. He told me this when he was in his late 80s, passed away at 98. My brother was a A4 crew chief in the 60s and informed a Marine Captain his plane needed some work, when the Captain found out who his father was he said , “ If George ---- son says I can’t take off then I won’t, as far as I’m concerned your father could walk on water” . My dad became an airlines pilot later on, when the story about Tully landing his plane on the Hudson River came out I asked my dad if that is something he could have done. Without hesitation he said, “Yeah, sure” . I believed him without doubt. 😊

I may be wrong or just Naive but like to think that anyone who can afford the air taxi flight in or even the cost of flying their personal aircraft there are also of the caliber to not molest this sight. Nothing there has anywhere near the value as the costs of getting there. Just my thoughts 🤔

Just like my uncle Chet, Sky King. Dirt roads, farm fields, you name it. Behind his on the farm, he had two airplane hangers. One for the farm plane, a Beech Bonanza. The other was a loaded out twin engine Mooney for long distance travels. Got his license at the post office in the early 1930’s. The Bonanza had roll down windows for coyote hunting. Way ahead of his time.

Had a CEO once that wanted to fly into a remote location where we were building a chemical plant and the nearest big airport was an hour's drive. The airstrip nearby was built for crop dusters. Our company pilot was a former navy fighter pilot and when I gave him the length he said, "That'll be twice as much as I'll need." I was told later that the CEO was scared to death by the landing and the takeoff.
