    This is why I am not entering this time. I don't have thousands of dollars of equipment and software and professionals to help me. I do really like what Wren has put together, fantastic. I have enjoyed the video's of the last compatition and the wonderful creative people that did not make it into the top 100. Some year I will be able to enter with the tools needed to compete. Love all you people that can enter.

    Man I'd love to try out my idea but my pc isn't strong enough for this challenge (my other pc died 😪) but if someone is looking for an idea I was thinking the ball getting dropped down the side of a mountain, slalom'ing back and forth banking in the snow, then hitting a tree that kicks it back towards the base of three mountain into a small cave the roll down into the exit hole. Could be a bit ambitious but I bet doable.

    • @Kholaslittlespot1

      It would be kind of cool if the ball did actually go right back into the distance in some shots. I can see a task ahead editing this one with the different speeds of the balls and the scale. I'm sure it will look awesome, though!!

    • @stylezmorales
      @stylezmorales 3 роки тому +1

      @@Kholaslittlespot1 I know right, I didn't hear if Clint said anything about being able to zoom in and out to give it scale but at the end of the day it's just a mountain in a box lol man, I may still do this idea when I get my new rig but that won't be in time for this challenge. I love that Clint started doing these. Clint if you can read this thank you bromie!

    • @Kholaslittlespot1
      @Kholaslittlespot1 3 роки тому +1

      @@stylezmorales yeah I'm sure it's possible! The ball simpy has to enter and exit frames at the right points. There are parameters for scale, I think it was 5cm for the ball. I'm sure we'll see people playing with depth here. I guess it's all about the speed of the ball or using optical tricks. Noone said the ball couldn't disappear in one place and reappear somewhere else, right? (Could do a cool teleporter effect). Wish I had the /balls/ to enter this one as the actual modelling and texturing could be fairly minimal.
      Cool we had a similar vision!
      (If you ever wanted to put something together in parts I could TRY and compile it for you! I have a decent system but not much experience yet).

    • @Fuegopaintrain
      @Fuegopaintrain 3 роки тому +1

      @DON SOLIVEN however since they are connected top to bottom you really only have 7.5 seconds of the ball in your machine. Ball usually shows up at about 117 frames and exits between 335-340 frames so about 7.5 seconds

    I'm working on this as my first Blender project. Turns out I might have bitten off more than I can chew. In a new project I can have a ball collide with a plane or something, but in the template it just keeps falling 'through' everything. Anything obvious I am missing? Otherwise I may have to give up 😕

    • @MarkGerritsen
      @MarkGerritsen 3 роки тому +3

      For anyone with the same problem, I got help from the wonderful people on the Discord. Apparently the freefall of the ball is 'baked' into the template. You can delete this bake in the Scene menu, under Rigid Body World -> Cache. Once you do that, the physics recalculate according to your setup.

    Great progress! I was scared to enter this as my first competition as the parameters for the frames and scale were very precise. Would love to enter one like the last where I have a file to edit.
    Just a thought from a beginner. The eventual effect should be awesome!!

    Wish someone would make one, where the ball just goes straight down into a portal, and then somewhere down the line later on, we see it come out the other side of the portal. Naturally it'd be portal themed, and it starts by going through the orange, and coming out the blue, perhaps the room is broken down with foliage when it comes out the other side

      in motion blur settings I went Transformation step: 2, Frame duration: 1, shutter start: 0.4, shutter end: 0.6, Shutter position: Center on frame, Shutter efficiency: 0.6. I am not sure if it is proper way to do that but It gives similar results as 1/180 in physical renderer.

    Can I ask for your advice here? Back in 2003-2004 started mesing around with Maya (tried 3d studio max but prefered maya). I was able to model few basic objects, had bought a few books to help me out since we didn't have easy access to the internet. That kind of information wasn't that easy to get elsewere. So I quit since I was geting many times with questions that I couldn't get answers and no one to guide me. Always wanted to go back into 3d modeling but never got into it again. Now that im 37, but starting to think "its never too late".
    What program would be ideal to start with coming from maya, and what courses / video channels would be good to take me from the begining, having a "schedule" that I can follow in a daily basis?

    • @syedtaha4284
      @syedtaha4284 3 роки тому

      Hi there, I think a good program to get into 3d is blender, it has many quirks and is really professional level software, also, it’s free. Blender guru and many other channels have tutorials for beginners in blender.personally I would recommend Blender Guru and Crossmind studio’s beginner tutorials, they are fantastic. Also, once you are done with these, try to learn the Basics of EEVEE render engine in blender, it can produce incredible renders, incredibly quickly, if you know how to use it properly.

    ASKING the community for HELP. I'm working on a render in blender. when I add another object, like an additional ball, I add rigid body to it and set it up as an active sphere. When I try to run my physics sim, the active objects disappear at the first frame. this only happens to me in this provided template, so it must be a setting or something in this template. Anyone have any ideas why I can't have multiple active rigid bodies in this template? Fixes?
