Hey there, I'm the archer in the video. 👋
I shot a 72 arrow end after the VCR, and reducing the finger sling length completely changed the feeling of the shot. It's crazy sometimes how such small details can have such a huge impact. I was quite hard on myself those past few weeks for still not being able to get the bow arm to swing to the left after a shot, even though I felt quite strong in my tension/direction (because I thought its going to the right meant I was still collapsing somehow), but it just fixed itself entirely by shortening the sling! 🎉 It really was the reaction of the bow after the shot that dragged my arm to the right, whereas now my arm just kept going to the left, undisturbed by the bow, which felt awesome and powerful! Also, the follow-through position of my right arm/hand did change slightly (don't know how exactly as I didn't film it) as a result, just as Jake's hinted.
By straightening the legs completely, locking the knees and tucking the hips more, I felt way more stable indeed, even though it was really windy. And I think it prevented me from having too much weight "forward" on the tips of my feet (which I think might be part of how I managed not to hit my chest with the string beforehand, by leaning forward just a tad much).
Jake's advice is spot on, thanks again so much! 🙇‍♂️

Great video, great tips! Thank you Jake. This week I unexpectely met 2 men in their 70's who practise archery for decates. They gave me lots of tips and my prefomance made a quantumleap. They saw every detail, even my mental state of the individual shots. Archery is really about details.

Danke 🙏 … You help me with this videos. Since 4 years I increased my rings from 8,7 to consistent 9,13+-0,2 on 18m.😊

Hello.. I'm from Indonesia, and I feel helped by this channel since I started archery 2 years ago. Do you have any tips to improve accuracy and stability in shooting barebow? I often slipped and drop my shooting points.. I shoot at 18 meters.. Thanks

Is there a risk of relaxing and losing tension/going forward whilst taking time to relax and hold the shot?
This all looks like great advice for the archer - I'd never even considered how my feet could be pushed out like that for a more stable base!
