Forstner vs aluminum

  • 35 mm forstner vs 10 mm aluminum. Came out better than I thought it would. Of course not really precise.

    grind a relief on the trailing edge of the bit.. ive done it and all squeaking stopped since only the cutting edges interact with the aluminum.

    Seems to work, but isn't very optimal. Better tool for that would be a annular cutter or a hole saw, since you don't need to cut the center material at all (just a guide hole for the hole saw).

      Sure. But I did not have anything else in this diameter and I found it somehow funny how many chips were coming out of this. That's the reason why I recorded this.

    Can I use forstner bit for wood to drill aluminium frame?

      yes because HSS Steel is harder than aluminium, and the chips are thin.
      Maybe copper is a problem since it becomes nasty sticking when your try to drill/tap/mill it.
