Two of the most genuine, knowledgeable, good-hearted, stand-up guys on UA-cam in humble opinion. Thank you gentlemen.
Fine white men!!! 👏
@@VernonCabbot was that appropriate
Yes they are fine Men.
That says it all
@@VernonCabbotwhat does the color of their skin have to do with anything?

"There's always another level of expertise or detail in the tools we use, and whether or not we use it we're never sorry once we've learned it." True wisdom in those words.
He wasn’t slathering it on thick, he was giving credit where credit is due. You’re one of the best..the dad everyone wished they had. Thanks for all of the knowledge you share.
The crossover we all needed. Buckin is one of the best and most positive people on youtube.
Probably a lot of you reading this were waiting for this video to pop up as you knew it would from Buckin. I watched every single video from both of you since 2019-2020 and used the knowledge almost on a daily basis. Thank you for what you've been bringing to us. Cheers from Poland!
You bet mate!👍
Też ich uwielbiam :P
I don’t think people understand the value these two can give you in this video and all of their own videos. Two absolute 100% most genuine men on YT. Hands down. God bless you both
I've always explained your channel to other people as "The grandpa I wish I had to teach me the things I'm learning now". Both of my grandpa's were gone by the time I was 4, so I only had my Dad and my step-dad. They did what they could, but raising kids isn't easy when you have your own issues.
I have two boys now that are still very young, 6 mo and 2.5yrs. My goal is to give them the Grandpa experience I wish I had as a kid. When they are at the right age to experience those lessons, I will ensure they have the opportunities to do so.
I refer to him when talking to my girlfriend as "youtube grandpa". Like you I also didn't have my grandparents around growing up. I'm sure there are also many others like us!
I got to care for mine over his last years of Alzheimer's when I was 12, still strive to be half the man he was or even just half his kindness.
I could not come up with a better collaboration of you tubers if you gave me a month of Sundays!
I thank God, everyday, for the great father I was blessed with and I miss him dearly as I approach 78 years old. Thanks Scott for all the great lessons you pass along.
This 71 year old pup echoes both those sentiments. About 90% of the folks in prison in the US didn't have a dad at home. Take that stat where you will.
Thank you Scott for bringing us along for the nice visit with my friend Buck’n Billy-Ray Smith. “BE KIND”
Sir you and Buckin are my go to channels for my hard needed dose of positivity and as a bonus i'm learning something while i am at it!
Thank you from a Dutch fan!🇳🇱👌🙏
Now this is THE best meetup on UA-cam!
I hope more people follow Buckin. He's so much like T.E.C., he's a bit distractable so his instruction can be a bit all-over-the-place TBH but his expertise and skill, is unrivaled as a production logger and general tree feller. Humble beginnings is an understatement. I wish all the success that comes his and his families way...His 'acts of kindness' precept also pretty darn important.
The first thing I noticed was, Billy Ray still has that old Mercury pickup. I thought he'd sold it.
I have been using chain saws since the 1980s. But have never been brave enough to mess with the carburetor. Now I finally know the simple basics. (It did not come up that the demonstration saw is OLD, and a Homelite. So I take it that what he showed us is universal. Except for the new fuel injection saws... right?)
I am impressed that he actually has room to work on his work bench.
I like that Billy's wife was referred to as his Bride. My wife would not let me say that. Never knew why.
Good advice about finding your way in life, and doing well. The Bible says in Proverbs that your most valuable possession is your REPUTATION. And this is how you build it.
this guy is my Buckin favorite!!
It's not just absent Dad's sadly. There are a lot who grew up with mean, hateful, belligerent dad's and they were taught that was what a man is. I grew up with a great father so I don't know for sure but it almost feels like the mean father is worse than no father. Not that it's a competition. So great of you to be teaching kindness. Thank you.
The problem is black people and jews.
Thats a great insight. It’s certainly not a competition and breaking the cycle is hard, however understanding the situation you are in is the most significant part.
Ever since I made a commitment to always say 'Yes' if possible, whenever someone asked for help or a favor, my life got better. Making it better for the next guy is what makes the world go round.
You two are quite the pair! Good to see you & Buckin' together!
Love seeing you two! You both are mentors that I have gone to for years, individually. Seeing you two together in one video feels surreal.
I commented on Buckin's video so I'll say the same here. Two of my favorite guys on UA-cam, both genuinely good people. Truly enjoyed watching y'all hanging out!!
AYYY ITS BUCKIN BILLY RAY! He's a gem of a soul.
Real men are strong enough to be kind. Thank you Scott and Billy Ray.
next time your up in Nanaimo stop by the The Pacific Biological Station, the oldest fisheries research center on the Pacific coast. (1908). Catching the Tsawwassen ferry at dusk or dawn is a great if you can work it out on clear weather.
Billy ray is one of my fave tubers fr and I just found you and now you with him is a treat
I knew who it was as soon as I saw the bed of the Merc, couldn't click fast enough!
The amount of good thought, love and humble knowledge these two men have put on youtube is absolutely invaluable. It's almost enought to form a tear in my non-shooting eye. Thank you BOTH so much!
Two of my favourites in one video, doesn't get better!
What a beautiful message there in the end, great vid guys!
been looking forward to this. I love Buckin, he will fire me up ready for my day real quick.
17:00 I have no interest in chainsaws or how to sharpen them, but I stayed because you’re both very interesting people. 😅
My humble friend called himself an old saw-filer. Most of his business in later years was carbide sawteeth ground on a computer controlled all-in-one grinder. Before that though, his customers were often other blue-collar guys who complained about the price he charged. His reply was "Well, that's true alright, but I had to pay a plumber the other day and it don't look like my price can come down anytime soon" (of course plumbers could maybe afford a spiffy pro sharpening, but the warehouseman could hope for a discount.)
I am Island born and raised, glad to have been introduced to Buckin' Billy Ray Smith.
these are pearls of wisdom gentlemen. straight up pearls. thank you both for making these highly educational videos. please keep doing what you have been doing. there are generations that are in your debt that have not been born yet. documentation like this is invaluable.
So glad you came to our little Island!
I had to pause this video 21 seconds in to comment. As soon as I saw the title, I got so excited because I knew just exactly who the celebrity logger was 😂 okay, time to get back to watching the video. How awesome!!! I love it!
@Scott, I grew up in construction. I moved from working with tools into project management as soon as I could. I'm kind of regretting that now. So, I'm watching to get back into tools.
This, gentlemen, is what you tube was intended for….good easy knowledge with a spiritual angle. Even though that’s not the initial intention.
Love Buckin' Billy Ray! He's good people!
Two legends! Great video!
Two mentors one show should be great 👍.
Scott and Buckin' Billy... automatic thumbs up!
My father was a weekend dad and he's still in my life but barely. Claims he had a lot of knowledge but just wasn't interested in doing brake jobs or tuning a small engine... What the 2 of you do is amazing. Sorry it took me 2 months to see this video.
So inspiring. I never knew about Buckin untill now.He is just like you Scott. Very kind man.
Great video guys .This makes me realize how good buckin has become at filming his chains grinding up close and being able to focus his camera. Scott wasn’t able to get the same shots because he’s not used to filming like that.
Scotty ... Buckin is a mysterious Legend !
Buckin Billy is a badass bro
I made the same comment on the BBR portion of this video series. My two UA-cam Dads! I enjoy you two much!
55 year old fatherless child here. I've struggled mentally and emotionally EVERY MINUTE along the way because of it. It wasn't until I fell into a job chasing landing for an incredibly humble jippo logging family that I received my first REAL LIFE guidance in my early 20s that instilled work ethic and morals that have kept me from EVER being fired by anyone. It's the only reason I'm not homeless today. You two guys are a true inspiration, THANK YOU!
Two mentors shaking hands… you both have taught me things that have fed my family. A sincere thanks!
Bought a new chainsaw today and I was thinking of the conversation at the end while breaking it in on some eucalyptus we lost in a storm earlier this year. Very important wisdom that I learned far too late into my adulthood. Some people would say I'm just getting started, but if I'd applied "You are your problem" sooner, I'd be a lot further along instead of still feeling like a failure to launch at 34 and clawing my way forward with what little resources I have.
The end of this video is very meaningful and struck a cord with me.
Great video
Scott, I'm one of those (used to be) young guys that didn't grow up with a father figure and found both yours and BBR's channels looking for how-to information. Along the way I also received a lot of that information + wisdom that was lacking in my youth. As such I am very grateful to yourself and all the other YT'ers that produce content such as yours and BBR's.
Truer word are rarely spoken. The role of Dads is huge.
What an absolute honor to watch these two men with their craftsmanship and their knowledge of life. I am 63 years old, and I hope to meet both of these men before I die.
Thank you for that conversation at the end. As a kid, I was socialized as a girl, so I was never taught how to use tools or how things work, but now (at 28), I have a beard and pass as a guy. My dad was physically there, but not emotionally. I lived in fear of him my whole childhood, and I don’t think I’ve ever had an actual conversation with him. I just found my first chainsaw from a garage sale for free (string’s broken but I was told it works), so I’m trying to learn everything I can about chainsaws & how they work before I even go out and buy any oils or a new rope. I don’t know if I’ve ever been more excited (and scared) to learn a new skill, but I feel like I’m forging my own identity by learning how to do things like this.
Billy is a stud and his leather suspenders are so nice
I wanna cry. Crossovers of that kind are always the best. When two of your favourite youtubers meet...! Love it
Thank you gentlemen. Not only for the knowledge and info, but even more-so for the relentless kindness & positivity. As a man that grew up with a single mom, your wisdom at the end did not fall on deaf ears. Thank you ❤️
Harley mechanic here , when working on chainsaws use smaller hammer and chisels (hyperbole) !
Love your channel !
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
You probably were in the same cruise than my son. He loved it. But yours had to be a very special with the whole family.
Thanks internet dads I love the content I'm a 35 year old electrician from Ohio and have been watching essential and CY for years for new knowledge. Billy Ray is a new edition to my playlist. I do have a dad and he is great he's a 70 year old retired construction worker and I've learned endless amounts of useful knowledge from him But when I don't know And sometimes I just wanna watch videos I watch you guys very informational I appreciate it.
Ask Billy if he has a BP1 Mc saw , wonderful program thanks.
Good stuff I saw the other angle on buckins channel, the go pro doesn't do great on close ups and details, thanks for sharing essential craftsman ❤️ ✌️
Hell yeah! Haha. Its Buckin Billy Ray!
I tuned in not for the saws ... but for the dialogue between you two and it was as pleasant as I knew it would be ! Thanks for sharing .
I hadn't heard of leaning out a chainsaw before, thank you as it's probably why the exhaust on mine has been getting red hot. You two just saved my saw!
Two of my favorite characters on UA-cam
BC is amazing! Thanks for visiting! Vancouver Island is especially beautiful
Hopefully you guys can get back together again and share more knowledge with the rest of us!

Beautiful family Scott!!!
Hey, Scott, you're sure welcome to come down here to NE New Mexico and try your hand on my elm pile. 😉 I moved to the Applegate Valley in Southern Oregon at 17 and lived there for 14 years... many fond memories tromping around the woods and mountains.
Great video Scott you and Billie ray are the genuine article, both feel like brothers to me and l know many others.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge and keep your videos coming please.
You have a beautiful family Sir. Congratulations.
The only celebrity logger i couldve thought of was buckin billy ray! he lives but a 40 minute drive away! perfect collaboration
I have to say, that was great. And it was about more than chainsaws...Well done! Positive energy...Keep up the good work, both of you. Cheers from newfoundland Canada
You're both role models. Embrace it and continue teaching yalls work ethic and kindness. Making a difference for sure. Texas here.
hey where have u been...???
love your resting gentle voice.....
I appreciate you and Billy even though I've never met either of you
Thank you
positive role models, yes. both of you. never doubt.
Love both you guys. True National treasures. We all have our communication styles and ways we learn best. Like it or not, and I don’t always … I’m a detail guy who gives and appreciates a thorough explanation that explains as it goes and connects the dots. Your instruction is perfect for me. I follow you and absorb 100% of what you say limited only by my reference of experience which is 5% of yours. I follow BB’s narrative a little and comprehend even less. I love his excitement and enthusiasm, and frankly his style as well, and respect it, however, his half sentences and disconnected thoughts leave my brain like a ball of knotted yarn. 😂 It occurs to me that my lifelong effort to connect the dots for others, and my expectation of having the dots connected for me when I’m receiving an explanation make me way more linear than I realized I was, and Billy is the polar opposite of linear. “Ya see? Ya see?” No! SHOW me! 😂 the good news is I’m wise enough to recognize a master when I see one, and you are both masters in your fields. So, I subscribed to Billy and will continue to work through and enjoy his content, even if it takes me five views to understand what others understood the first time. 🤷♂️
Wow! Two of my favorite UA-camr's in one video!
This was a treat to see you two get together. It's like world's come together and shake hands.😊
Thanks!
Thank you guys for what your doing! Can't stres that enough.
The perfect collaboration 🥰
You two are so revered. Thank you for the love you give.
