TRYING PULQUE 🇲🇽 MEXICO'S STRANGE & SLIMY ALCOHOLIC DRINK
Вставка
- Опубліковано 27 вер 2024
- Today we try pulque, a delicious slimy alcoholic drink made from agave. It's basically a cactus beer. Some people don't really like it because of its texture, but I love this drink of the gods (pulque has a history). So let's find a pulqueria in Mexico city to drink alone at. Besides that, we walk around one of the best neighborhoods in CDMX (Ciudad de Mexico) and have a great day taking in the sights, sounds, and tastes of Mexico City.

Famous tacos, drinking cactus beer alone, what more could you want?
I had no idea there was cactus beer.
“Cactus beer” jajaja oilooo. A very strange way to name the pulque 😂 An interesting fact to consider: Tlaxcala and Hidalgo are the States that have the strongest pulque culture, as also really great food.
It's not a cactus beer, the agave it's not a cactus, it's an agave, completely different genders
Fico feliz pela legenda em português, os brasileiros agradecem 🇧🇷
Los Mochis, Tijuas
Acapulco
A tip from a Brazilian follower, don't forget to go to Veracruz. The food is also great.
Hey buddy, I've just discovered your videos, and I think they're absolutely amazing.
That said, There's a part of me that watched the video of the Starbucks in Mexico City and thought "ah, so here's perfect example of corporate appropriation of another culture for profit". I'm so happy for them!!
Seriously though I love your videos and the local places that you feature. I can't wait to see more from you, since I'm traveling to some of the same places...
Quintana Roo
Suggestion: visit Guanajuato and Cuernavaca and also Taxco
Have you ever tried pulque? Did you like it?
I had a lot of Pulque, but while I find it ok, it is not my favorite drink, I ld still rather have a beer!
Love it (lo amo).
Hello,
I would love see Zacatecas, Merida, and Guadalajara. Safe travels!
Good list 🙏🏻
7:40 I recommend go to Puebla / Cholula or Guanajuato / San Miguel de Allende / Tequila / Puerto Vallarta
You can go to Vulcan Iztaccihuatl/Paso de Cortes nearby CDMX
Those are all on my list ✊🏻
Soon
These videos always make me want Mexican food 😩😅 I’ll have to try to make some 🙌🏻🌮
Mexican food is always so good. It’s hard to replicate it at home, at least for me in the US. Hopefully you can do it well wherever you are!
@@TheTravelbum I completely agree! I’m in a smaller city in Brazil, so not a lot of choice for Mexican 😅 Can’t even find tortillas 💔 But I can try to make some nachos with plain Doritos lol...
Haha not quite the same, but it’ll work for now. Hopefully you can get to Mexico at some point foe the real thing which is unmatched!
You should go to Bacalar
I’m enjoying all the time you are spending in Mexico City. As you journey through this amazing country I’d like to see you spend more time each in fewer places rather than less time each in many places.
It's great when you point the camera forward on the streets you're walking.
Yes, my old videos when I started were mostly that. And then people wanted me to talk on camera more. I think I need to get back to a good mix of both visuals showing my surroundings as well as talking about what’s happening
@@TheTravelbum a nice mix is good.
Nice video, do you know how is mr. potato?
You should visit Chiapas. San Cristobal de Las Casa is a very cool town. There and Palenque were the places I saw when I was in Mexico. Cheers brother.
Since you're in Mexico, I am always making sure i have some food to eat while watching your videos 😜
Would be nice to see Tullum and Riviera Maya. And the whole México, please! :)
Stay safe!
That's a good idea haha. I understand. Yes, lots more to come! I think I'll come back to Mexico many times in order to travel it all. But some plans are brewing for another country soon too. (hopefully the food looks nearly as good)
Nice Alex enjoy and thank you for sharing take care.
🙏🏻
Ok 3 places from me I would love to see you visit: Guanajuato (Estado de Guanuajuato), San Cristobal de la Casas (estado de Chiapas) y Valle de Bravo, where I lived and worked for some years and closest to my heart, not really well known for foreigners tourists, but a beauty of a small very pictureque town in between moutains and lakes (Estado de Mexico)
Hello there Alex 🇵🇪🇺🇸
Pulque would be fun to try. Love it you are having fun.
It was a lot of fun to try. The consistency is so unique, it’s good to see what else is out there in the world
Alex, you should visit Tulum, Puerto Morelos and Playa del Carmen. I am looking forward to seeing videos from these places.
I plan to 🙏🏻
They seem great
hi there, new subscriber Jade here, and it's nice to meet u, Alexander!
Thanks for coming along, Jade ✊🏻
The fermented drink looks so good. 🍷 Let us know if it makes you run for the bathroom urgently.
I think it did
Where's Lindsey?.
Alex, Do you see some similarities between Mexico and Brazil ?
Oh yeah definitely. Probably why I love both countries so much. The atmosphere is so great, it feels good to be here
I wonder about Morelia
Michoacán would be great. I’ll see if I can get to that state this time
I hear that Greece is open now. That would be interesting. If you speak to Lindsey soon, please give her my love. God bless and happy travels.
Thanks Coleen ❤️❤️❤️ hope you are well too
@@lindseyfw2903 Thank you Lindsey. Yes, I'm doing very well. Much love beautiful young lady.
Have you thought about going to Copper Canyon, nearly made it there once!! Meant to be amazing.
What cellphone service do you use when traveling overseas?
I have T Mobile, which allows the same plan as I have at home for no additional cost, in most countries of the world. I’ve been using it for years and it’s great
Take a look to the 132 Pueblos Mágicos (Magical Towns). They are all around the country and each one has its own personality, food and culture. Really an insider experience and a travel to the profound México.
I’d love to visit a bunch of these. I have been reading about them
@@TheTravelbum my personal favorites: Taxco, Cuetzalan, Mineral el Chico, Pátzcuaro, Malinalco, Tepoztlán, Atlixco, Izamal, Zacatlán de las Manzanas and Parras de la Fuente.
I'd like to see you stay in and film Yelapa and the long canoe ride there from Puerto Vallarta.
As ruas mais limpas, fiação aterrada,não vi muitos pedintes,mendigos,noias...
Querétaro is very nice
Alex, you are definitely in taco heaven!
Os mexicanos sabem cuidar da sua cidade. Cidade limpa...orgazinada.., bonita.
Não não não é imundo
I love watching your videos! I would enjoy seeing you explore more art when traveling! In Mexico City specifically the Diego Rivera murals, there are five, one is at Palacio Nacional, and Secretaría de la Educación Pública. Also Frida Kahlo's house and museum. Thanks!
Ah good to know. I am an artist and a big lover of art, but it didn’t seem like people following the channel really wanted to see that. So typically I don’t film it. I will start to film and hope that my subscribers are art lovers as well 🙏🏻
@@TheTravelbum Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera are so important part off Mexico and yes a lot of your subscribers want to see and learn about it. Art is everywhere, Go first to the Diego Rivera house and with that ticket you don't make a line when going to Casa Azul ,the Frida Kahlo home
🤩🤩
✊🏻
Cachete is cheek tho…lol
In addition to getting great video, it looks like the Osmo is allowing you to be less conspicuous while filming. Great job!!!
Yes true, it’ll allow me to more easily film people and bring others into the experience. I won’t feel so bad shoving a camera in peoples’ faces
You really have to have the regular pulque, its got a strange sour taste but fun to drink, the stuff i had i got from backwoods shack, in xalatlaco and santiago de tilapa,
Whats also fun is that i recognize alot of the places you were walking by cause u was there just this September for mexicos independence day, there is also some really beautiful places near mexico city like Malinalco, but i wish everything wasnt so closed down as the square was blocked off,
But in the outer areas of mexico city you will find alot of ancient stuff, in my friends neighborhood just in the dirt you can find old chipped obsidian pieces from atrifacts from the aztecs,
Like the pyramids of tenango, those were great fun, also found a small bag a weed there lmao, i miss mexico, it was so relaxing,
Excpet when i went to tepito and mercer street and got into a fight with a pimp for insulting his hooker. That was a real doozie.
Hey Alec did you use T-Mobile in Peru? And did it work good?
Yes I did. I have used it in Peru, Colombia, Brazil, India, Vietnam, Hong Kong, several spots in Europe, and it’s been great for all of them
Sometimes it’s a little slow, maybe slower than a local SIM card but it’s nice to know my phone is always working the second I walk off the plane in a new country
2:20 NO NO NO OJOS(EYES), CABEZA (HEAD), TRIPA (TRIPE) for me..NOPE
Ha yeah, I agree. I can’t do that
Go to Coyoacán, Teotihuacan pyramids, Xochimilco. Stop wasting your time dowtown
I’ve been to all of those. If you search “travelbum” and any of those, you’ll find the videos
I am staying in Coyoacan, I’ve made several videos from here. My favorite spot in the city
Hi Man
If you want to have more views or suscriptores. You must learn and speak Spanish
No seas flojo gringo
I’m workin on it. Plan to be fluent in a year
from the same family BUT not cactus!!!!!!!! ymf
Show us their cemetery
I want to see Puerto Vallarta. What happened to the girlfriend? No longer see her in the videos.
Alex please go to the Riviera Maya, I would love to see the Mayan Ruins, the cenotes, the jungle, the local food and way of living
Are you going to Guanajuato? It’s a cool place!
Aguardo você visitar os sítios arqueológicos astecas quando for possível! Boas aventuras!
I would like to see Merida. I suppose to go there on Sunday for a friend's wedding, but can't because of Covid 😭
Lacrimejou na tortilha kkkkk pimenta?
I want to visit Mexico City. Later this year or in 2022. Great food for sure. I love the parks ! 💚🌴🌳🌵
(from Bolivia) Alex a comment. Now you seem more relaxed on your shows. Happier. Life is a compromise
Alex, visit Frida Kahlo house if you have the time.
Have you considered going to Merida Yucatan?
Yeah I’ve heard a lot about it, planning on it
*** This was the BEST TIP you can give to visiting Gringos to CDMX. The perfect street tacos.. period.
Curtis in Las Vegas.. I'll be there in 7 weeks.
San Miguel de Allende or Taxco ARE magical towns that are a MUST and known to be some of the most beautiful cities in Mexico and the world so I hope you do go to SMA at least.
Hi Alex and Lindsey,I haven't watched much You Tube lately, been insanely busy, but half to be back, hope you are both well.
Jason Billam Travel is also in Mexico City. He's also a good travel vlogger.
go to monterrey
Hello good afternoon I want back for México city
Alex you plan to stay in Mexico for how long? Because if you are going to stay for a few months, maybe it would be better for you to rent a car like you did here in Brazil. This way you will be able to get around more places. Looking forward to your visit to Cancún.
I’m thinking about it, trying to make some plans. If that’s the case I will rent a car. But I’ll know soon
@@TheTravelbum Yes, Mexico is not as big a country as Brazil, traveling in a car across the country can be a good adventure. I was curious to know how you managed to drink those two drinks in those giant glasses hahaha there was almost 1 liter of drink in the glass 😂😂😂
Hey bro saludos desde California ❤️🌹
Say hello to home for me ✊🏻
Excellent to get tacos to go. You need food for the evening. And you have a small fridge. 🥙🥙
Awesome stuff!! 👏🏽 👏🏽 👏🏽
✊🏻✊🏻✊🏻 gracias
👍🇨🇦🇨🇦
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Nice day Alex! That longaniza looked sooooo good! looks like chorizo but the taste is different. Also you might find green longaniza, very tasty. For now I will have to go and make my own tacos after watching this video. :)
Other alternatives to eat on a budget, is a fixed menu of homemade food. It is called comida corrida which usually includes, soup of the day, or rice; main course, fresh water (with fruit mixes), and dessert. Look up for luncherias / fondas, and bon apetite! :) Another staple of mexicans are tamales, highly traditional, there are the ones wrapped in corn leaf - salsa verde, salsa roja, mole, , or dulces (sweet). Then, there are the ones wrapped in Banana leafs, really good, with a nice consistency - tried at Cafe de la Selva and it was served with tomato sauce and topped it off with fresh cream, yummy!
Hopped on Metrobus yet? The one that runs in Insurgentes Avenue goes South of the city if you want to explore Bosque de Tlalpan area. It is very green and beautiful zone, lots to see. Out of the city you can go to Taxco, Guerrero, silver town, charming and relaxing. About 2.5 to 3 hrs from Terminal del Sur in Taxqueña metro station. Valle de Bravo and Avandaro are another gems hidden 2.5 hrs away from terminal poniente at Observatorio bus terminal. There is a butterfly reserve in the area - hope it is the season to see thousand of butterflies. Happy adventures wherever you choose to explore! Hasta la vista 🙋♀️
Thanks for all the tips! I really need to get some tamales soon, both types. I was sad that I missed the monarch migration of millions of butterflies north of Mexico City. I was going to film an awesome video about it with them flying all around. Hopefully next year I’ll get back in time 🙏🏻
Man, I´ve tried Pulque once in Cancun and I loved it, I remeber the texture was different, but not bad at all.
That’s good, a lot of people really don’t like the texture. It’s really unlike anything people consume. But if you’re open to it, it can be great 👍
Loving getting to know Mexico City though your videos! I've only ever been to Cancún and it's amazing, but I'm sure Mexico is much more diverse than that. Hope to see a lot more yet! Also, I see most Mexicans are still wearing their masks, so, if you can, please try to keep your mask on while walking though public spaces, even when filming ;)
Yeah Mexico has sooo much more. I want to show it all eventually. It seems like 50-50 a lot of Mexicans don’t wear masks outside. But I am always wearing it, I just pull it down to say a few things to the camera
Where's lindsey
She’s not coming on this trip
We explain things in the video a few back when flying to Mexico
