Love my e36 1.8,still going strong 97,000 miles,I look after it myself that way I know it’s done right. Great channel Nathan,in your opinion what’s the best code reader for odb1?
I see you have special part for securty filter, 1 week ago my filter sucked in to hole i saved my engine but i see now my engine missed one filter part by old owner
The mann filter is around 8 bucks on FCP. but if you’re short on time and theres a dealer nearby its around $10 at the dealer. But that filter was pretty sad. I bet 10k miles did that to it.
Wix are made by mann filter , they are all made on the same local, they are same group. Wix is what some VW and other brands use on OEM replacement parts.
Never had an issue with Wix filters, I think the amount of time it had been in there was the issue rather than the quality. Give me Korean over Chineseum filters anyday. I'm surprised you don't keep a stock of filters if you specialise in Beemers.
Hello thanks for the video, please can you tell me more about oil types for this engine I have it in my 545i 2004 and its burning oil, Castrol or mobil or shell which is the best oil for this engine and their viscosity. Cos the Castrol recommended by bmw i learnt was because it protects the valve stem seals and stops oil leakage and improves performance. I use 5w30 catstrol magnatec. I have people saying I should use 5w40. Kindly advise on which viscosity and made of oil. 🙏.
I have a 2006 E90. I'm about to do a trans flush. I was wondering if you had any experience with the URO aluminum trans pan that allows the filter and fluid to be changed without dropping the pan. I'll probably drive the car until it dies, and though I don't really see myself changing the fluid that often since I don't really beat on the car at all, I kind of feel a bit more comfortable having an aluminum pan over the stock composite one. Plus, it is finned aluminum, so it will move a wee bit more heat away. But mostly because plastic, lol. Anyway, just curious if anyone has had good/bad experiences with it. Edit: Nevermind, I read that wrong. Still need to drop it to change the filter. Sorry, it's been a long day, lol. But I would still prefer the aluminum pan.
@@NathansBMWWorkshop Really? Ok, thank you for letting me know. In that case, I'll just stick with the standard ZF pan. Car doesn't leak anything and I'd kinda like to keep it that way.
@@NathansBMWWorkshop It has 80,000 miles I think. I parked it after the battery died because I was scheduled for back surgery shortly after. I would like to get several things done to it, rod bearings, replace the front strut top bearings, check the SMG pump. I've replaced the throttle body actuators, several coil packs the were broken, the alternator (I have had the a few years but hadn't been driving it a lot). I don't have a garage or lift and with my increased back issues it would be best care for by someone with the knowledge of the mighty V10!
@@NathansBMWWorkshop actually it is wise tale of ZF engineer during his class, probably you know more about ZF transmissions than people which create them. Everybody decide about his car and pay for the consequences by wrong decisions. Good luck.
Glad I sent my last BMW down the road, no more ultimate greasy machines lol. It's nice to change the oil in my 18 Silverado with a nice dry oil pan and spin on filter.
The filter housing is tough as hell. I would have replaced it. If the hex part is stripped, it can be removed using a strap wrench after moving the skid plate.
My N62 in my 2008 was great. Had to sell it when I bought my 2018 F15. Only thing I replaced in almost ten years on the N62 was the water cooing parts. Other than that the engine never has a major failure.
Thumbs up. I am thankful to my supply chain, that takes as much effort as some of the builds, again great job, kind regards

$8 plus shipping plus waiting 2 weeks for it
O'reilly's has those in stock.
Where can i find the filter for $6?

Exactly, very big in Europe. I've never had an issue with Wix and they fare well in comparison tests with other filters.

The best oil filters comes from German Kengst
Hello! how many miles did the oil you drain out?
I despise paper cartridge oil filters. My wife’s’14 Town & Country has one, and the built in nut on the PLASTIC cartridge cover is prone to breaking.
Presume that failed oil filter hadn't been filtering for a while...

I bought the uro pan and it leaked like
Crazy . Spend the $80 and get the ZF pan, trans video will Be posted tomorrow on the x5

the misfires is easily one of the coil packs i bet..
Where are you located, I'll send my 06 M5 that needs resurrected.
In missouri, how much and how many miles?

It?
I could sell. I thought about fixing it up but if price is right I'd sell.
If this is the ZF transmission don't change oil if it over 100k miles. Just fill up if it needs, because you will have a problems after that.
Thats not true at all, that is a old chevy wise tale

5w30 valvoline

My god this bmw hasn’t had an oil change for a long time, from the looks of that oil, they might a got 10k out of it😆
The n62 engine in my opinion sucks
Agree, the inline sixzylinder up to the M54 are much more reliable. I will never buy a BMW V8.
