Seriously, its a talent.
Nook this game has taken over my life since this video came out! Who woulda thought a free game from 2007 would entice me like this. Definitely wouldn’t be against you doing a longer playthrough!
The moment you got to the character creation screen, and I saw the avatar, I was screeching to make him a swordsman named Connor MacLeod.
Swordsmen should focus most of their attributes on strenght, dexterity, speed and endurance. secondly fallows concentration. best increases are at attribute 15 and 20 (need around 20 in endurance and 16 wisdom to passively get rid of some diseases it seems, dont rely on it)
casters most important stat is perception, do not question it just dump. it boosts mana amount the most and gives alot of mana regen (especialy fast with enough meditation skill, at 35 perception and 11 meditation you gain 1 mana per turn). best use is with the druidic religion (small negative in dungeons, but a huge buff outside)
and yes, this game is weak to save scumming
First time I opened this game I ended up binging it through to the end before touching anything else. I enjoyed all the Echalon games.
Good old Games have given away all 3 chapters, I have them still yet to play the series.

if anyone is looking for RPGs similar to this, I remember an interview with this dev (Basilisk Games) about how they were directly influenced by Spiderweb Software RPGs such as the Avernum series

i never did finish this one...
It's definitely a throwback but the developers honestly tweaked this game way too much into difficulty, at the end of the day if the only way to get through the game is to save scum until you get good dice roles then the game becomes the save scumming and not your character build. There needs to be a better balance.
