edit: sorry I was wrong. Its based on it but the writer takes it and cranks it to a 1000 by making it have insane alien tech to it and I think its 2x times bigger.

It actually would have been quite safe though. The tank was to be designed with a layer of shielding around the reactor to protect the crew from the radiation, and damage to it would not result in a nuclear explosion, contrary to popular belief. Sure, the leakage is dangerous if the reactor is penetrated by a shot, but so is it dangerous when an M1 Abrams tank is penetrated just about anywhere, as the dust particles from the fragmented Titanium alloy armour and/or the Depleted Uranium inserts can be toxic when inhaled.

i remember reading about this tank. i don't think it was meant to be nuclear powered, but to fight in a battlefield where tactical nukes were in use.
the turret is shaped the way it is to let the pressure wave from a blast pass by without flipping the tank, the anti-radiation shielding wasn't to shield a nuclear engine but to protect from the general radioactivity of a nuclear battlefield. it's amphibious because they thought that all the bridges would be destroyed within the first few days of fighting, that's why the air intakes are on the roof. a nuclear engine wouldn't need air intakes.

one thing I love about the cold war is that we got all the technological advancements and experiments and engineering marvels that come with war, but without an all out war ever occurring. A lot of good came out of it, for the most part.

I think more goofy extremely experimental tonks should be added to the game, as long as there's enough information about them that would make it feasible to add and balance. WT already has a LOT of prototype tanks and planes that flat out FAILED and never had more than 1 or two prototypes built, like the XP-50 and SU-11, neither of which even made it past the testing stage. Oh, and the IS6, it was never even fully built.

gaijin really, really dropped the ball with ai battles, it should be 1 player controlled team and 1 bot team fighting over a strategic location with ai air support for both sides at realistic ranges, instead we get a handful of stock tanks in an open field getting surrounded and slaughtered by an endless sea of aimbots for what feels like 4 hours per match
ai attackers, ai fighters, ai tanks, ai spaas, ai bombers, all the assets and locations are there, the only thing missing is any kind of creative effort from gaijin
Probably wouldn't have seen many new vehicles but we would have seen allot more cities getting nuked and the war not lasting longer than 1950.
