I like to apply the Adjust Rig in 3 steps. At first I do as you did, a general application. The second time, I apply it only on the head, not on the body, only on the head, uncheck all, and leave just the head tree. In the third, I apply only to the eyes, uncheck all, and check only left and right eyes. Look closely at the zoom in steps 2 and 3, and you will see that micro adjustments will occur in the bones of the head and eyes.
Oh really? That’s a great tip Marcelo, thank you! I’ll try it out. I’ve not noticed the micro adjustments, but it’s one of those things that’ll potentially catch us out later on. ⭐️
This was a very useful video. There was one more step to do after adjusting the rig. Right click on the model and "Align all bones". This will align the joints with one another and will automatically fix the fingers. Thanks Again
Thanks for clearing this up. I used your tutorial on have to save custom morphs and was having this problem. I found a video on how to correct it but I am glad you put out one as well.
Your videos are GREAT! thank you :) I'm having this issue, wonder if you already made a video about or maybe you can do one: I'm trying to make Multiple-Morphs to Genesis Female 8.1 Following your tutorials (morph and this one for joints) The 'FIRST' morph works great! The problem is when I import the 2nd, 3rd, 4th etc.. Any EXTRA MORPH (using Morph Loader Pro) works great BUT! ...Eyelashes + Tear (new in in 8.1) are not sticking to the skeleton, I tried to follow the same solution you show on this video but it's making a mess. Is there any step-by-step FIX how to do multiple Morphs to one Genesis 8.1 character, or maybe in upcoming tutorial? Thanks ahead and sorry about my bad English, please keep up the good work :)
Fantastic as always Jay, my friend! I love ERC Freeze and the whole lot of Content Creation Magic within Daz Studio. Although I've always been a Carrara artist, I've used Daz Studio 4+ since it came out just for those magic tools! Hey man, I'm sorry I have to miss this upcoming webinar (again). As usual, my rock band is playing that night so I'll have to leave for that shortly after you begin :( Bright side! Daz 3d will put it up for me to view when my adrenaline-infused sleepless self gets home after 4 solid hours of drumming + around 3 more hours for setup and take down. Cheers, and one of these times I'll catch the live performance - I hope!
Why is it nobody makes videos about rigging or manually modifying the skeleton in Daz3d? Adjust rigging to shape doesn't always cut it, but I'm stuck there.
I hear you buddy! It's probably because the process is seriously horrific in DAZ Studio. In Blender, you draw out bones and attach them to geometry, add weight maps, and you're good. In DAZ Studio, you have to setup face groups first, from which the software then infers bones. You have to manually set the rotation (with a super unintuitive choice of XYZ, YXY, XZY or any such combination), then shift around the hierarchy manually, and then you have the beginnings of a rigged figure. If you're made a mistake, you can use the joint editor to fix it, but it's a game of patience. If ever I figure out how to do this properly, I'll certainly make a video about it.
Hi Jay - hope this message finds you well. I am trying to add a new property to a figure that will control a bone on another figure or rotation of a null/prop. Is this possible? I've tried various ERC Freeze options but could not make heads or tails of it. The reason for this is so I can use a single Puppeteer graph to control multiple figures/props. Thanks in advance.
Good question, Cain! As far as I know there's no mechanism that lets properties of Object A adjust anything on Object B (unless it's follower clothing). You can do it in the same object, like with MCMs where one dial triggers another depending on its value. What you're suggestion would be very useful though (think of wheels tuning in response to an offset on a road object). If you find a way to do it, please let me know - I'll do the same.
@@WPguru Thanx!! I'm well, hope you are too, you sound good. I've been a little short on studio / creative / gaming time for a while, but I think I'm back on track in a few days. Still haven't finished my new studio room, there's hope this summer! Doesn't matter I guess since I don't use a webcam :-)
@@SteamvilleQuintet I'm glad you're doing well, and totally understand the lack of creative time. Life gets in the way sometimes, doesn't it? @@WPguru We've spent the last several weeks getting my guy set up on dialysis, and maybe it shouldn't, but it really just zaps the strength, being frightened. And lots of trips to the city. You know how it did when it clicks right for the option adjusting rigging to shape? It never works on my side, until then I go through the menu tool and join editor. But for the shape it’s edit/figure/adjusting rigging to shape. But the result is really bad at the levels of rotation whether it is included or not. So I would like to do it by hand I can not put my finger on " mirror join " since I do not have the associate menu, you know where I can find this option?
Sir, in daz3d i animate the genisis 8 male model to wolf morph in shaping( pleague wolf) , then i export it as fbx also daz to cinema 4d bridge, all face morph and body morph working properly, but finger fist coming what exactly in this video u show.. how can i solve this in c4d pls help me
Hello Guru! I have a question. I modeled a robot made up of many objects in Zbrush. Is it possible to import the model into Daz Studio and adapt a skeleton of a Genesis character to my robot? And how? Thanks Guru!
Hi Piero, yes that's possible. It's very different from rigging in other apps but in principle, you have to create face groups in your modeller (selection sets) and then export as OBJ. Each group becomes a node, and each node can be moved into a hierarchy, from which DAZ Studio can infer a skeleton. They have some documentation on this: docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/software/dazstudio/4/userguide/creating_content/rigging/tutorials/adding_bones_for_rigging/start
that doesn't work on my side either, I can't access the menu, with the right click and the join editor to activate it selects the part of the corresponding body, there is another solution to access this menu ?

I found, to display the menu you have to do shift + right click on the figure.
This doesn't seem to work if you export a morph out with morphs on it into blender first.
