Thank you! No, really, Thank you so much! I've been animating as best as possible, literally self taught, and it's been taking years off my life, lol! You just added a few back.
Some billboards were scaling through my timeline and I couldnt figure out how to find the keyframes for scale. Was about to delete them and bring them back in. Thanks so much for this!!
Been confused by this for ages!!! Thanks so much for yet another great tutorial! All the 3 examples are well explained. Thanks! Looking forward for the aniblock tutorial too, it's not too intuitive ..at least to me :')
Great work - straight to the point and really useful. I have been looking for these - Daz3D is a great program but they really need to improve their UX/UI in some (many?) areas. Did I hear you say that this new timeline replaces Keymate and Graphmate? In other words I don't need them any more? Thanks again for the great videos.
That's right, the Keymate and Graphmate features were integrated into the new timeline with DAZ Studio 4.12 and there's no need for them anymore. They've been removed from sale.
And then use the curve editor (can't remember what it's called in DS off the top of my head) to fine-tune the animation even further.... Cool. Thanks for this video!
I don't understand why if I use Alt+Click to restore the morph, all the related keyframes are deleted, is it a bug or designed that way? This is the first time I've used the timeline in DAZ Studio so I have no idea if it's always been this way.
I think it's a "feature". Resetting sliders with ALT-Click has a detrimental effect on the keyframes. I don't know a workaround, aside from typing in "0" as the slider value to reset. That'll leave the keyframe intact.
I've been so annoyed by this, and you just made my life easier! Thank you! Btw, I've been trying to follow your "How to fit DAZ Clothing using Marvelous Designer" video, and the problem is: whenever I take a slider back to 0, the clothes would just cave in on the character instead of reverting to a genesis 8 like state. Any solution?
I'm glad to hear it :-) About the Marvelous Designer transfer: it's hard to say about the caving clothing without seeing the full process. It could be that reverse deformations were on when you imported the morph, or it could be that your clothing is fitted to the character (it shouldn't be). Let me know if you get it fixed, I'm happy to show this workflow again in an upcoming stream.
@@WPguru Thanks Jay! I actually found a few weird negative value morphs that only appeared when I transferred the model from gen 8 to 8.1, but even when I remade the model from scratch on a new g8.1f figure, I still didn't couldn't solve it. I made sure it was a freshly loaded 8.1 character with the only morphs used being ones that I wanted to use. Interestingly, the morph "Heavy" was the one to cause the most havoc when zeroed out (from around 15%). I did another test, with just a gen 8.1 female and a heavy morph... Again with another morph, and the problems persisted. I'm starting to doubt that certain morphs just can be cancelled out because of a bug of some sort. Even disabling auto fit on the morphs before loading the clothes doesn't fix this!
I've tried it a while back, and I remember not all surface properties can be animated with that plugin (it was written pre-Iray). It did work in principle though, not sure if any of the animated parameters will show up in the new timeline.
Animating material properties is not natively supported in Daz Studio. You can try mJcasual's MatAnim script, it might not be able to animate all channels, but it might do what you're looking for: sites.google.com/site/mcasualsdazscripts/matanim

Thank you so much I just got to this part of my workflow
As usual, just the insight I was looking for. Thanks, Jay!
You're an invaluable piece to my project workflow. Thank you, sir!

THANK YOU!!!!
What about surfaces and materials? Can they be animated and displayed in timeline?

There used to be the script by mcasual. Anitexture or animated texture script. Can you try that and shiw how to use it?

has any way to animate parameters of surfaces tab, like Top Coat values, or bump value?

Shame you still cant see XYZ Translate on body parts in the time line
You can, but they're hidden by default. Use the TRS dropdown menu in the timeline and enable H for hidden, that'll make the translate options show up.
