- How to upgrade the Audi RS3 exhaust note with Iroz Downpipe and midpipe. By opening up the exhaust you will gain roughly 27whp without a tune. We aren't exactly sure how much power gain there is with the stage 1 tune from Custom Code. We have already installed Stage 2 with the Iroz intercooler (video out now!). Stage 2 Iroz Motorsport kit with Custom Code Stage 2 tune should net around 450 whp and 489 wtq. These cars are running 10s 1/4 miles with better tires!

In the middle of the frame rail where the doors meet. But if you wanted to be more careful I would follow humble mechanics guide with his Golf R. Should basically be the same underneath because they are both MQB chassis!

Quick question: how did you remove the triple square holding the heatshield directly underneath the Downpipe? What tool did you use?
If you're talking about the triple square bolts themselves there is a link in the description with a set of them. If you're talking about the weird threaded washers holding the heat shield on? I believe we twisted them off with the end of a needle nose pliers. They ended up a little mangled at the end, but still worked to put them back on!
Hardway Learning minute 12:55. That heatshield. I believe it has a tricky triple square directly underneath the turbo. Will a ratchet fit in there?

@@ngt1478 ahhh shoot, didn't realize how bad their guide is. The key ones I would look up if I weren't on a flight right now would be RS3 "dogbone mount torque", "subframe bolt torque", and "driveshaft torque"

I just bought a ttrs I'm not sure which way to go? Downpipe plus midpipe kit from wagner with a stage 2 or the AWE Switch path exhaust? Any opinions on which way to go what the sound difference it would be?
I haven't really experimented with anything else. The stock mufflers with downpipe and midpipe is certainly loud enough while retaining the option to close the exhaust exhaust flaps and cruise drone free on the highway.
Did you notice a drop in power right after the install while still on stage 1? Just got mine installed and noticed a drop. I'm on stage 1 tune as well.
I don't think so, but we went stage two shortly after. If you have any issues I would reach out to custom code on WhatsApp! They are super helpful, also ask to be added to their group message
So my studs from the downpipe exit end to the midpipe are all stuck... did you have to deal with that? I'm stuck with a midpipe install I can't finish
It appears the downpipe and Mid-pipe section is the first bolts to come off in the process? Ours were fine as the car only had about 6000 miles. Have you tried PB blaster? Otherwise you could cut them with an angle grinder or use an impact!
@@HardwayLearning yeah my RS3 has 3900 miles, the ends of the threads are rusted out so I can't do the dual nut truck. I got out the 2 lower studs... The upper ones I can't reach with a grinder, I've been hosing them with WD40. I was going to try to take off that lower downpipe bracket, but I don't know what that crazy torqs looking screw head is.
@@Dormantee I would use a penetrating lubricant like PB blaster and get a pipe that fits over your wrench cut to the longest length that will fit under the car and give it all you've got. Worst case you cut the whole pipe with a reciprocating saw. With the new pipes you don't really need the stock ones anymore and I don't know who would want them?
@@HardwayLearning Round 2 and I nailed it! Maybe I should have let the WD40 set for awhile before attacking it. Midpipes are on and she's howling nicely :) Thanks for the replys friend! Can't wait to see what's in store for your RS3 next!

Wastegate rattle sucks 😭 will it be the same with sport cats on th mid pipes 🤔
The wastegate rattle only seems to be present when cold. And if you open the exhaust flaps you don't hear it anymore. Not sure about different cats
That exhaust sound clip at the end though. Was this RS3 tuned or modified already? If it sounds like that with just the downpipe and midpipe upgrade then I am ordering the kit yesterday. Please let me know. Thanks for a fun and great video guys. Your sound effects are worth an honorable mention.

Hardway Learning did you get a check engine light with the new pipes?
We did eventually, but we also bought the custom code tune that goes with it (highly recommended) which removes the check engine light and improves performance! When you buy the custom code tune, you get all of the tunes included and awesome support from them! So we had access to the Stage 2 tune when we installed the Iroz Intercooler after the downpipes! With stage 2 (downpipe, midpipe, intercooler, tune) the current record is a 10.2 @ 131 (might be 132) with removing rear seats (easy), passenger seat, catback (easy), and some better tires. This set up turns this little 4-door sedan into a dang rocket!

The rattle should go away if the flappers are open. This can be done if you shift into S in dynamic. Have you flashed the car with custom code software?

Any CEL popped up after installing the iroz downpipe?
We flashed it to custom code stage 1 which disables the secondary o2 from throwing a CEL.
did any fluid come out when you removed front driveshaft ?
I do not believe so
getting them put on as we speak and they needed to order transfer case fluid for some reason
@@Eminem344 that doesn't sound right to me, maybe they broke something? I know some people have broken drive shafts when removing them. I know that there has been some cases of the DSG spraying oil from launch control, have you done a lot of launches?
nah they are doing it right now and when he removed it alittle fluid came out
how bad is the smell with that catless downpipe ?
I haven't really noticed much smell other than when you shut it off and smell it outside.
is it really strong the smell when you turn it off ?
@@ralgod9022 honestly I've only noticed it a couple of times, so to me it isn't that bad.
maybe i just missed it in the video, but why did you need to remove the driveshaft ?
The original downpipe/cats Y right before the driveshaft, so you wouldn't be able to pull it out with the driveshaft in place
I think you could of just wiggle out that DP without removing the subframe
Unfortunately the OEM down pipe is so big that it hardly comes out with the sub frame loose. We struggled with it so much I forgot to even get footage of it 🤣

Boosted Veedub it would have been pretty easy with a lift, but it was pretty rough on jack stands 🤣
