This vidio inspired me to hit two local, tiny creeks with micro cranks this week and I had a great time! Waters I've driven over for years and never bothered to fish before. After landing a brace of 4lb chub in a short 1hr session on the first I took my son out the next day, and he is now as hooked as those fish were!
This looks way more fun than sitting in the same swim for a week waiting for the bite alarm to let you know that an oversized goldfish has self hooked itself !
Great video sir I have used abu rods and reels for years never let me down very underrated still use one that's over 50 years old on special occasions and still works perfectly
Used to fish the grand Union at Berkhamsted, in the 70,s,absolutely loved that stretch of canal.great memories. Large shoals of big Big roach.2.1b plus.this is when I think the record was 3.1b 140z.happy days. My favourite gear was wagglers,Mitchell reals,300,410,Mitchell match, Abu 506,cardinals, all poles were fibreglass. Rods Bruce and walkers. Blue match. Used to luv my Large old wicker basket. Top anglers of the time were,Billy Lane,Ivan marks,Ian heaps.ashurst brothers. And dad,Bob Church.and the brilliant Jack Hargreaves.
Very cool video, i have a bunch of UL, XUL, etc Japan rods, but tried one of these abu part glass rods last year and now have all 3, just amazing rods, especially for the money. They are up there in quality with any of the Japan imports for feel with UL baits, spoons and micro cranks. Absolutely love them! they can even throw fly's just perfect for me. Worth trying with weighted fly fishing nymphs, really good fun and as light as it gets. Pin point accuracy with casting those micro gram lures with these, better than anything else I have for UL sport.
Ah, the suspense of wading in a small creek, never knowing what will grab one's lure. Add to this the good chance of startling a Tiger snake ( only in Victoria, Australia) All part of the excitement of fishing. Thanks for sharing the ultra light!
😂😂 the trout men will be snapping you put the pike back 😂 Well done Chris if the pike is there he's a lifeing creature going about his day hunting trout Sure it will keep the trout in top condition 👌
This is the type of fishing I like and do quite often I've bagged large trout Rudd grayling perch Chubb with ease Never ever underestimate small brooks
I love watching you fish small streams and rivers takes me back to how I got into fishing in the first place thay can hold good amount of fish and size 👍
People wouldn't believe what come out of small streams/river's. My local little river is the Dove in Barnsley, I fish under the bridge near Worsbrough Mill. I've had carp to over 11lb,big chub, tench, decent roach bream, eels and spun for perch and got my pb from under there spinning, it was just shy of 3lb,its only about 10ft wide in most places.
Good to see you got noticed by Abu Garcia 😁👍👍👍 Some nice Trout in this vid, I never catched one, heard I can find them local to me might give it a go. Will pause all fishing until weather a bit cooler for now though. Thumbs up
I've watched many fishing channels and yours is way ahead of the rest no bullshit just plain ole fishing great vid quality and sound..love the way most times you can see the float no other guys show this which is the best part for me keep em coming Chris awesome!!!!👍👏🤗
There is nothing like tempting, teasing, then hooking a wild river trout. Those larger fish are termed 'pan sized' here in Aus, although most fishermen here these days catch, photo release. 🤣
Stream-bred trout in that tiny stream, pretty cool. Is that a chalk stream, or spring-fed? I'm just wondering what keeps the water temp low enough to sustain a breeding population of trout.
Bring some Garden pruners with you can cut some of the smaller branches out of you way and clear up swims for next time and they cut Through think branches as well
Hell im Swedish and ive never Heard nor Read anything about that combo ! When Abu garcia Svängsta Closed up their Factory they started to go away i Did how ever buy a couple of their baitrunners Real neet little reels (thats not made anymore (and this was 2000 something) fun to see the countrys use that brand still . /Paul Roger Nilsson North Sweden
Iv recently found a small beck filled to the brim with trout. Nothing over 7" so far though. But it's the best spot iv found in years. Keep up the great content.
Loved that G 👌 great vid and some lovely browns, also answered a question no 1 has answered me, i watch loads of lure fishing for trout vids from all over the world and ive been asking for ages if our Brittish wild browns would take soft plastics like you had here but no one replied, i love ultralight fishing for wild browns but i use spinners and hard plastics i.e rapala/salmo ive got the 5ft 6 Abu Garcia Devil spin rod and i just treated myself to a Daiwa legalis LT size 1000 and its been great ive got 6lb Berkley Trilene which has been fine too, now i know Brittish browns will take soft plastics im gonna take a trip to my 1 and only tackle shop and get some jig head hooks and some soft plastics, how much was that tub of Berkley bugs? Take it easy pal Tight lines ❤🎣✌💙👍 from Scotland 🙋♂️ forgot to ask, how do you use these lures? do you retrieve with the lures on the bottom or just like its swimming in diffirent depths of the water, thanks in advance 👍
I have a sort like 0.4 -4gr trout rod, amazing how sensive they are...the bite of a5cm sunfish on a maggot is like a perch on a normal ul rod. I love those super ul rods a lot Sadly we dont have trout left in our rivers
Hi Chris watching your videos have been inspiring to say the least. I've even taken a step back from my usual fishing for carp this year a just been lure fishing and I'm loving it. Just want to know what size a 10 is in a jig head as the sizes are all different ie 1# 2# etc .
Chris I've been wanting one of these rod since i saw this video. Just found one on ebay so super stoked. Please can you tell me what mono you're using please mate?
Hey Chris, huge thanks for this vlog. Loved every second of it. Gram for gram, nipper and I use a similar ratio ABU set up for pike on Exeter canal. He snagged a 23lber on ultra light gear, with braid. This shows really great trout habitat, reassuring to see an absence of Himalayan Balasam. I've had an Abu Garcia quiver since 1994 still my go to rod i have better quality rods but I just love it the first big fish I caught was an 11lb barbell about an hour later my dad landed 12lb 9 Oz I honestly thought the rods were going to Break tip was nearly hitting the real 20 odd years on and it's still as good as the day I got it highly recommend it wasn't an expensive rod I'm sure it was under £40 I know nowadays rods are much cheaper than they used to be
you should get to Eagley brook in Bolton, ge river runs at the back of my house and I've caught a lot of 2'lb trout, there's reports of people catching 20+ fish in a day on the river, great for a walk-up
It be nice if u could share we're u find these little streams etc plz im from Blackburn and there's not many like that near me apart from one small river called river Darwen which has decent size trout in but ad some decent size chub 5 lb plus ones which from the size of the water u wouldn't think they was in there with that size lol

Some chunky perch in their to. Like you say it keeps the trout population nice and healthy having predators to clean up the sick and injured fish
Wonderful stuff mate, you deserve a million subs. Your fishing is so different and innovative.
This is the type of fishing I like and do quite often

We used to fish tiny urban streams like this when we were teenagers, we regularly would pull 15lb carp out the most unlikely places.
