Steven is such a great listener - that could be the reason that he is so insightful and fastly grasps the meaning of a topic. Loved to see him get interviewed. Even more impressive that he is one of the podcasters that will give his guests the space, holds it and only adds to the person he is interviewing without interrupting or trying to hard to lead the way of the conversation.

As a 66 year old bloke who, by my own admission, hasn't done a lot of value in my life that I can be proud of, I find this interview in particular, but Chris's interviews and content generally to be a wonderful source of support. Self respect hit home here and the commitment to myself which I have been a spectacular failure at. I still don't understand how I've managed to be where I am as one of the more fortunate people in the world at the moment with mostly first world problems that I do my best to keep to myself. Thanks for providing such valuable information for the rest of us to draw inspiration from. Still many more years left to learn for me.

    Good evening Chris and Steven
No words without sounding like a Granny and a Mum. In this wee moment.
Just to say, my wonderful young adult kids should be paying attention to both your work, more than their Mum. I do continue to recommend though!
But admittedly I have gained so much from your shared work and associated guests you converse with, whom share their experience and knowledge.
Has been a lot of everything nearly, I have required over passing couple of years. Tough times!
    So wow, loving this.
    Grateful.
    Truly.

Hey just wanted to say thank you so much for this. I've been really struggling this year as have many I'm sure. Background of childhood abuse/neglect etc. Recent major depressive episode and a lack of self confidence that has been with me my whole life. Anyway although I've always been into exercise and eating well and positivity, etc. this year something changed and I took the short slide right down into the happy ball pit of hell. Suicide attempt, lost my job, the whole nine yards. But today... I got up early and went for a long walk (haven't gone for one in ages), planned my day out, took care of business and adhered to today's goals. I feel so much better. I feel like maybe I can do this. As a small reward to myself after dinner, I had some carrot cake lol (one of the best things to exist!), but only ate half instead of the whole thing like I usually do. I'm a huge pot smoker, but have decided to only smoke on the weekend instead of every damn night lol. My sleep last night was much better and I feel more energy already. Thanks for this encouraging video guys! I feel like I can do this. WE can do this! Don't give up! Everyone deserves to give themselves another chance. Cheers!

The way Steven grasps knowledge, processes it and explain it just speaks to every cell in my being. I don’t think whoever is interviewing him has the same mental wisdom though, constantly intercepting the conversation, pivoting the conversation to what he wants it to mean and more importantly the part where he said “you will have to let go of the team you had when you started” when you grow assumes that while you grow, other people remain in the same place and it’s highly arrogant, I loved the way Steven rebutted that.

Bartlett is right about us being ruled by our beliefs, but dead wrong about our being unable to change our beliefs.
After decades of conscious, intentional struggle, one thought at a time, I can honestly say that the contents of my mind are completely different from what they were when I started, to the extent that the 25 year old version of myself would not be able to in any way believe that he would grow into the person I am today, and would have absolutely no grid for understanding my motivations.
Not only that, but I'm able to drop my entire thought and feeling process at will, and simply be with what is.
So, don't believe that you can't change your beliefs.
BTW, The hardest part by far is choosing what to believe.

Your conscious intentional struggle presented you with new evidence about yourself which is what Steven was actually talking about. He never said that it's impossible to change beliefs. Interesting how we can hear the same thing differently...:) Your journey sounds amazing and expansive.... more power to you ❤

I absolutely love you both so much. While I was listening to you speak, I thought of my daughter who said to me one day as I was "procrastinating," studying for an exam said Mom you need to protect your future self... what would she do? So, I now use this in my daily life especially when I don't feel like taking a shower, meal-prepping for the week, or pre-making coffee for the next day. I am a full-time nursing student and work on some days is really trying, however, her words like yours mean so much and I am watching and taking notes. Ty xoxo ~ J :)

    The lonely chapter…
Thank you for shining a spotlight on a period of my life that has been so difficult to articulate to others. The transition between the person you were and the person you are meant to be is one of solitude - a time to reflect on the past and map out a path for your next journey.
Brene Brown’s words were so instrumental in my ability to reach the shore when drifting alone with my thoughts, insecurities and fears…
“I know what it means to stand alone and brave the criticism, fear and hurt. I know the freedom of belonging everywhere and nowhere at all. The reward is great, but the price is high. I have made this quest and I have the scars to prove it. It’s the paradox of feeling alone but also strong”.
Your conversation has been a refreshing perspective on our mutual struggles. Thank you for sharing!

Surrendering maybe the key - not giving up or loosing as we've been programmed to believe, but to surrender to your task at hand like Artists/musicians who create Master pieces &
surrendering to a heart felt hug - the energy flows ❤

Steven put everything I’ve been thinking of into words.. I have been in love with music and the idea of creating music/DJing since I was a young kid and I never actually pursued it, earlier this year I started pursuing being an online fitness coach because it was what I thought I wanted to do, then I ended up buying my first Dj mixer and realizing that I only wanted to be a fitness coach because I was insecure with my “status” in life and I thought that would change me, now I practice DJing everyday without any hesitation and I’ve realized that’s my true ambition.

Would you ever consider having Scott Mannion as a guest? He is an English writer, and professional film director who won the Au Directors Guild award awhile back. He used to live in LA for a time but left the evils of the Hollywood scene, returned to his native England to forge a dissident rebellion called the "Greenwood' publication. I would say what he tries to do is to rekindle the spirit of what art and literature ought to be. He does a great deal more than even what I can describe in a short paragraph. I just thought he would be a great addition to your already well chosen list of guests because he is witty, intelligent, accomplished, and most of all...he's a fellow Englishman. Cheers Chris, glad to see you doing so well! By the way, I never miss any of your news letters!

34:32 I have thought about this so often and I really think it is both. A lot of wisdom comes with age for sure but some comes from our own deliberate searching.
I feel like a lot is yet to be seen though... we are in a new era where wisdom like this is so wide spread and more accessible to younger people than it would have ever been before. In the past I don't think elders shared their wisdom with younger generations so much, they just lived it and expected the youth to figure a lot out on their own. In some cases it was even taboo to talk on certain topics (eg Puberty/PMS/Consummation/Mental health/Abuse/PTSD etc)

Amazing talk. Both of you are so inspiring. I started a pod this year. 7 episodes done. So I guess I'm a third of the way to the top percentile. I'm an old man compared to you guys. I acheived a fair amount early in life, but got complacent. So I'm now in mid life crisis territory, but having fun with the pod.
