Keep the faith. Mamamoo have not disbanded. Straight from the mouths of the members. "Mamamoo will continue, we have so much more to do". I believe them. They are always remaking the rules, and RBW has always encouraged them to do so. We will see an OT4 comeback in time

I know LSF aren't the best at vocals, but they put on an excellent performance with great dancing skills & stage presence. I'm so sad at the hate they get. I love Mamamoo and I'll forever agree they got the best vocals in the game but please don't use their name to drag other women (and a child, Eunchae's SO young). It's against everything the members stand for.

Hwasa and Wheein already challenged industry norms by their insistence that they had to be signed together. If you are willing to stand up to a company when you are a kid, then you can certainly do it as an adult. All this flows from Hwasa's Dad's kindness in caring for Wheein. That one act of grace has blessed many people.

@@nickyblinksht1002and that is exactly why your bp wouldn’t have much group comebacks(if any at all) in years from now. Just like snsd. Look up how many years it took snsd to have group comebacks. No offense but they are as good as disbanded compared to how they originally debuted with 9 members. Snsd was also vocally talented. But they weren’t the ones to convince dingo company into launching the dingo killing voice show(for idols and band and soloist) apart from the original dingo killing verse show they had that only allowed hiphop artists be on it. Mamamoo became the first kpop group and kpop Girlgroup to get dingo to do that. And now many more artists are enjoying benefits from that. Technically SNSD kind of did this (first), with Sooyoung Tiffany and Seohyun leaving the company, but the group didnt disband. The difference was they “left but would come back as a group if their schedules match.” But I also agree that Wheein/MMM made this “popular” because they were able to have comebacks and world tour soon after her departure as a soloist, proving it to be very much possible to be under separate companies. (edit: compared to snsd who took years of hiatus before their official 8 member comeback since SeoSooTiff left SM).

even as a soloist, mamamoo's members are really active, releasing new songs and doing tour. in many case, solo release and group release was managed by the same company, so the schedule will not overlap. but because mamamoo's members are managed by different label, they could do solo activities without waiting for others schedule.

Loved your breakdown on the whole situation which otherwise might seem like a natural progression in kpop since A LOT of idols are doing it now. Thank you for bringing to light all the criticism & uncertainty that surrounded Mamamoo & Wheein's actions at the time. You've put it out in video form how Wheein quite literally CHANGED the expectations a kpop idol should have from their company & to leave on their own terms if their label isn't treating them right without it coming at a hefty cost of their group activities. Plus, this isn't the first time Wheein has been the first to do achieve something in kpop, it's just that kpop stans (esp Twitter) love to reduce Mamamoo's achievement to an insignificant value but when their faves do the same, it's suddenly the best thing ever (the hypocrisy 🙄).
Just to list a few things that Wheein has achieved:
    - First 3rd gen idol to feature on other artists' tracks (not to mention, established ones! - Jeff Bernat, Standing Egg, Wheesung etc)
    - First 3rd gen idol to debut as a solo artist (Released 'Easy' in 2018)
    - First 3rd gen idol to win a music show as a featuring artist (Won in 2017 with 'Anymore' - a song written by Jungkey for Wheein that was NOT promoted but still topped the charts in SK - it was a BALLAD might I add!)
    - First soloist to have a music show win in 2022
    - Has industry veterans recognize her for her voice & praise her singing skills
    - Has a plethora of featurings & OSTs (literally has one of the most EXTENSIVE discographies as a 3rd gen idol)
Plus MANY more things she as well as Mamamoo have done to make the industry a better place for newer artists as well as help spread positivity among social minorities by showing her support through her actions, words & music.
I hope Mamamoo continue to flourish in their career and as always, don't forget that "MAMAMOO WILL CONTINUE!~"

This doesn't make sense. WheeIn was the first of the ladies to have a solo was she not? I remember her being on singing shows before any of the others as well. It's not exactly common for group members to have solos within the first few years either, the focus for a company is to grow the group following so solo stuff can get pushed aside. You also have to remember that WheeIn struggled with anxiety and personal matters years ago. To me it seems that leaving RBW to pursue a solo career was the first step out of her comfort zone and a challenge to herself, same for Hwasa, thankfully it has been working for them. MoonSun are different, they are much more assertive and would have far less issues being demanding about their activities. Unfortunately for all of them, this came at a time where RBW were spending their money buying up other companies and answering to shareholders, so MMM suffered the consequences of the company trying to prove that their other groups could bring in revenue if MMM didn't renew after the 7yrs were up, probably another reason why WheeSa left because they didn't think RBW could satisfy their desire for solo work (even though Redd was a top quality album and WheeIn was really happy with it).

Love Wheein and Love Mamamoo, but she wasn't the first one to do this.
And Mamamoo hasn't done any group activites in 2024
    Brown Eyed Girls’ Narsha, 2AM(as a group), APink’s Naeun(although that has ended I believe), 2PM’s Taecyeon, BIGBANG’s T.O.P.... to name a few.
Wheein may have been More noticable, and this has become more of a trend since 2021(When she did it)... With Hwasa last year.
BlackPink Members being the most recient(I Believe).
I don't know if Mamamoo will dispand or not... and this video touched on much of what is going on with them.Where Mamamoo stands
-Wheein's extended her contract(this was in 2021) with RBW for Group activites until the END of 2023. NO "Official" word on if Wheein has extend her deal for Mamamoo again.
-While doing her Solo work exclusively with The L1ve label.
-Hwasa has signed with PNation in 2023(don't know why, even her Friend Jessi left it), for her Solo activities.
-There has been NO "Official" word what type of deal, if any, Hwasa has made with RBW, To continue with Mamamoo.
Don't forget that RBW holds a lot of the rights when it comes to Mamamoo. So the FACT that the members want to Continue Group activities, means they have to make an agreement with them. Which doesn't appear to be an issue TBH.
The ISSUE as I see it...
You NOW have THREE companies(at the moment) that have to agree to terms, and schedualing.
Along with the 4 members individual(musical & non musical) scheduals.
And the SubUnit Mamamoo+ (Solar & Moonbyul)
IT'S GOING TO BE A LOGISTICAL NIGHTMARE

Was 2AM able to have a group comeback or tour as soon as Mamamoo did since wheein leaving rbw? And apink naeun attempt at still being in the group failed in just 2 months of her joining YG so that's not a trendsetting example to follow.
She didn't prove anything(not saying it in a bad way, just the hard fact). About T.O.P, he has stated clearly on his Instagram that he left the group. He said he's not part of bigbang anymore and doesn't want to be associated. So he's not an example to follow either. Taecyeon is still part of 2pm but 2pm rarely does group stuff. Their last one happened after years of nothing. So they didn't prove that it's a very viable situation either. Wheein has NOT been the most noticeable actually. That is PRECISELY why this video was made. To give appreciation where it is due. Her role in being a trendsetter is always ignored in kpop communities. Although she was the first one to pull off this deal of "leaving the group to the OG agency while still being a member but also having solo contract in another agency" so successfully. Now I don't know how this will go on and if mamamoo will be able to have comeback in 2024 since i can't predict the future but for now Wheein deserves the credit

I would say that Mamamoo is following the trail blazed by EXID, who managed 2 comebacks since leaving their original label, releasing their 2nd Japanese album B.L.E.S.S.E.D. in late 2020 followed by EP "X" (and MV "Fire") for their 10-year anniversary in 2022. SNSD claims to be "still together" since Tiffany, Seohyun, and Sooyoung left SM, but haven't managed any real musical output as a full group, just one MV by subunit Oh!GG and contributing 2 members to GOT The Beat. But at least SM would still back a new comeback by them, unlike f(x).

      @FauxCocomelon 2 місяці тому +6

Like u said, EXID left their label as a GROUP, whereas it was just one member from Mamamoo that parted ways with the company while the other 3 where still under RBW. I appreciate you adding them here but it's not a "trail blazed by them" since they were never under the same circumstances & moreover never really promoted after their hiatus. Mamamoo put out an anthology album with 23 tracks (a new release & the rest all re-recorded) after which they performed them at KpopFlex Germany & other festivals! Not sure EXID was able to do that in 2021. Moreover, with EXID's EP 'X', it came out around the same time as Mamamoo's 'MIC ON' album, which in comparison was promoted a lot more than EXID's comeback, imo.
I can sort of agree on the SNSD one but likewise, they were on hiatus for a whopping 5 years & that's not exactly "popularizing" the act lol. Anyways, those were my 2 cents, hope I didn't offend anyone

@@anistardi I did mention GOT7 in the video, and why it's not the same as with Mamamoo! About SNSD, it's true that 3 members stayed in the group while the group was still under SM, while leaving SM, but it's not a really good example, because they took 5 years to have a comeback after that, and it was barely promoted, pushing the idea that it was impossible for the group to continue after that.

I think it all boils down to the companies and their willingness to collaborate with other companies. Most Kpop companies monopolized their clients to maximize their profits and refused to even do collaborations with other artists not under their label. In other countries for example, it is very easy for two artists under different labels, management, etc. to collaborate because they are willing to make it happen because it can generate profit for all parties involved. It's good to see that more companies are willing to collaborate with other agencies and artists because it makes great music and more diverse environment. It also helps curb the anti-fan hate and blind loyalty some people have to the idea of company as "provider" and "creator" of these artists.
