Look how happy Jaime gets when you just let him talk lol
It's a crime to humanity that Jamie's jeep rebuild is not on YT! Crime, I tell ya! 😅
I'd call that move with the saw the Perkins Plunge. Great video series guys!
18:50 It needs to be called the Perkins plunge.
Dude, you nailed it! That should be worth a Perkins Brothers Shirt or Hat or Both!
No, it should be the Jamie plunge.
Bro, I was just coming in to comment that! I’m def calling it the Perkins plunge lol
That name is already taken for something else. Just ask their wives.
@@yodaiam1000 BRO WHAT 🤣🤣
The driver did a great job of tailgating that load of rock !
I would like to say to Jamie that I have such admiration for him on how he has adapted to his injury, especially in his trade and hobbies. Much respect.
A good one lads. Ray you need to talk more. You are the quitter one but when you talk they listen.
I didn't realize Jay was the new "Tim the Toolman Taylor!"
Hands down best channel on UA-cam.
I like the grind of a remodel vs new construction, gotta embrace the grind.
I was having a withdrawal this morning so seeing this come online at lunch time totally made my day!
Mine Also! Keep Looking Up! Moons Back. Look UP!❤😂❤
Another tip for cutting angles and getting the guard out of the way, shim the guard up with a pencil. Just have to be mindful as the blade winds down
That little dewalt with the big battery is now Milwaukee class!
Buy a couple of bottle jacks for this type of work makes it much easier to lift the header in place and secure it
Structural designer here, just letting you know to consider the ridge in comparison every single rafter must have a ceiling joist nailed to it, according to the IRC. Now in reality will it be fine, probably, especially on a small house like that
It's a fine line between a remodel and a complete tear down and start over build. You are walking that line. 👍
OMG! Meter blade sleaves. I haven't seen those since I was a bill collector in the early 70's. Thanks for the time travel.
i have removed those for people before..lol
Why would the utility leave the meter? Just pull the meter.
People would short the bars with metal objects (usually a heavy nail) to complete the circuit thereby restoring their power. Also an open socket would be a safety hazard. When service is disconnected for non-payment, we would usually install a lock ring on the meter when it was reinstalled with the sleeves in place. @@antoniobiondo1509
Love watching all the videos
Not gonna lie, I would have loved seeing a series with Jaime rebuilding his jeep
Jamie- I have an '87 YJ with 50k miles. Love the jeep
Love Jamie's passion, just a salt of the earth guy! (The rest of y'all are alright too! haha)
I bought a jeep like that in Sylva, Nc right down the road from you boys in 1995. Still driving it, it’s been a good one
"Barely noticeable" Comedy gold! : )
Man I've been watching them since the Modern Getaway House series. I was 16-17 at the time. Now if someone asks me what do you want to be- JAMIE PERKINS.
This really shows how experienced builders figure out all the problems with old, out of whack frames, cladding, rafters etc. I also really love that you all get into it and seem pretty excited to be anticipating and solving all the problems. That experience really shows compared to mugs like me hanging my tongue out the corner of my mouth while trying to figure it out on my ancient old timber home. Love that you teach us bumblies as you go, got so much out of it over the years. Although, funny how my house still isn't finished! 🙂 Cheers and thanks from downunder. PP
would love to see a series on Jamie fixing up his car! Love your content guys!
I love watching you guys solve problems and innovate. Every house is unique
Y'all can do a whole episode on the Jeep and I'd watch it
Jamie's 3 Step Stud Grab Maneuver. That was the money shot right there!
Been a long time since I've seen a distributor. Made my heart flutter a little bit - not gonna lie.
I would honestly love to watch videos of Jamie working on the Jeep
Love the cabin fixes. I bought a little cabin in Maine and your structural modifications are inspiring me to redo my interior.
People wondering why they won’t just knock down the whole thing, I can’t speak for everyone but you wouldn’t knock down a good wall just to apply a new coat of paint, if the structure is good and you can make good with what you need then no need to knock down the whole thing, it’s cost effective, reduces waste, keeps a bit of history in place and just makes more sense. I love this channel and the ways of thinking these guys have.
You guys are just too funny. Really enjoy watching. Stay safe and enjoy. Thanks for sharing.
Awesome building guys.
Such a good series!
I love it!!!
The Perkins Plunge! Looks like we're all having the same idea :D
This series is awesome
Always pumped to see a new Perkins upload
The "Jamie Jab" for that cut
Plunge cuts are the bomb! Took me 10 years of experience to learn as well! 😂
Satisfying video.
Love your work 👍
Lots of love for the original floor ❤
You do such great work ! I love to watch your videos ! Keep them coming !! I LOVE YOU ALL !!
Great among the Perkins crew and as always appreciate the tips & tricks for the less experienced.
Thanks again Men for sharing, we enjoyed as usual.
I loved this video today. Really good. ❤
Good job guys nice👍👍
Really enjoying this series. Keep 'em coming.
Jason is tim the toolman taylor!! More power!!
Happy Friday from New Zealand
11:32 was some really great news 💨
Oh yeah! Perkins plunge is the pro-tip of the year! Thanks
Keep up the good work sir! Appreciate the good quality content🇨🇦
Sure have enjoyed your videos over the years and pick up some great advice . The camaraderie is just priceless! Ps..... By the way I ordered the watch you featured the other day.
Lol! I loved the drill scene.
Wow! Nice move Jaime!👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
I've been watching a lot of This Old House lately, so it's s fun to watch you guys do an old home renovation and show it in a greater detail!
Keep on keepin on
I love the Jeep Jamie! Looks awesome!
Been checking for this video for the last 3 hours.
Loving the series. I always keep a couple of those big lags in my bags just for instances like that!
Need a whole series on the Jeep !!
I was so waiting for the new Vid 😊
I love the work to save this rotten old house. Some of the best examples of architectural design, construction and engineering are when old meets new!
Doing away with the north american throw away culture and saving buildings is a worthwhile use of time.
Some of the nicest homes ive ever been in were 50-100 years old remodels and restorations.
Its a lot of effort, and sometimes more costly, but old buildings tell us stories.
I hate old buildings
@@95thousandroses what do you LOVE
@@user-jy6vd3uw1m energy efficient low maintenance structures. Something old homes know nothing about.
Always the fastest 22 minutes of the day. Another great video!
I kid you not I accidentally just learned this today working. The plunge cut for steep angles👌🏼game changing.
Looking good. So much bigger looking.
That’s what she said!
Jaimie
Still flexing hes the real deal
17:00 - I remember my first time cutting with a saw! But seriously, good tip.
2:39 those angle grinders are awesome for that. We use one nearly everyday on the job as cutting certain nails off is so much easier and less shaky using cutoff discs on the cordless angle grinder
Love the jeep!
Literally had to use a sledgehammer on a beam for the same exact thing today, hahaha! Really interested to see how yall seal up the crawlspace from the porch
We do that move when cutting a blade cut on 2x or 1x . Works great . Better than wedging a shim in the guard. Great show
The Dewalt MAX series tools are all interchangeable. The "max" tells you the availability of the tool or battery. A 20V will only use 2 blades while the 60 will use all 5. Plugging a 60V battery pack into a 20V tool will only engage with the 20V stack inside of the battery; whereas plugging it into a 60V tool, it will engage with both the 20V and the 40V stacks inside of the battery. SOME 60V tools will run on the 20V batteries, but poorly and only in short bursts.
The better implementation is with the Dewalt FLEX series. In these, the tools adapt to the battery plugged into them. If the battery is undersized, it will limit it's draw so it doesn't overheat the battery.
Both systems are to encourage Dewalt loyalists. MAX, you just buy a bunch of 60V batteries at a high A-h and a few at a lower A-h and those batteries can be used with any tool. The FLEX series ensures complete cross-compatibility so the included battery will also work with any tools you already have, with the understanding that some may not work quite as well; though you could also do the same thing and just buy a bunch of 60 and 80V FLEX batteries at different A-h ratings and use them in everything.
Awesome work.
I think it would have beed easier and less expensive just to rebuild from the ground up.
None the less great work
I like it that you guys are tackling this old structurefind it out all these crazy things about it like ,everything, But you guys are doing a great job as Usual appreciate your effort on your craft and Eric's ability to do a video. Thank you very much, One more thing, I want to congratulate Jamie on his Jeep that needed a whole lot of work when he got it and it looks pretty good. I hope his mechanic had do the motor done a good job. Don't know what he did yet. I haven't heard but it looks good, Good job, Jamie with your eye for detail. Thanks again
You kind of touched on why the rear of the Jeep sits higher than the front, but to state the point clearly if it starts out level, it's going to sit like a lowrider when you put the family in there. I guess you could add a set of airbags to fix that, or, you know, just leave the front lower. It's coming together well though, nice work.
Just pin the guard on that skillsaw for that steep cut. We all do it. Though I know you can’t do that on camera 😂
Pouring down rain here too. Taking time off till tuesday you can buy impact sockets 5/16 w1/2 drive in Australia. I have a whole set metric and imperial
I’m also a huge fan of using GRK’s. However, in this instance, I would like to have seen them using some type of construction adhesive on the new girder and ceiling joists.
Evening from Scotland
The cut technique must be called the Perkins Plunge. ;)
The Perkins Plunge
A nail in the the tire is a occupational hazard😁
You fly boys crack me up lol… decent as heck.
On the one man plunge cut you can actually just start it high a little and it works great
When you are driving big fasteners like those GRK's, you should use the old half-inch drill and not an impact driver. Believe it or not, it is way faster.
Yeah, I have had good luck with my drill on hammer mode. That thing will drive fasteners like that all day.
Love all the videos wish they were longer lol
More of Jamie’s Jeep content button
"walking the guard"
However not always possible, especially with thinner material (but where a table saw works better)
The Jeep should have a higher rear from my knowledge (might be more related to the newer wranglers tho)
Bone Daddy. My new terminology for the sledge hammer 🫡😆👊🏻🤍
It's the Perkin's Angle Cut technique! Not the most original, but...🤣
Jamie, should turbo that 4.0, will make up to 1000hp if you go full send. Would be cool to have more hp on tap and nobody would ever expect it. Still looks awesome, you have done some very nice work mate!
Hi from a very rainy Brisbane Australia, perfect day to sit back with you guys and now some Jay's way!
Just got home watching this on phone, I was getting ready to go to bed but when he said big boy drill and now I got to turn on the Big boy TV watch the rest of the video there
Jaime….its Rock paper scissors NOT Paper rock scissors. Love these guys. Thanks for the entertainment.
The ol’ 3 step board cut, would cha.
18:50. That maneuver needs to be called the " PERKINS PERSUADER."
