- In this video we take a look at the Unifi Switch Lite 8 PoE. This is my new favorite Unifi switch for homes and small business. With 8 1gbps ports and 4 POE+ Ports and at a cost of $109 USD MSRP this is both a powerful managed switch and affordable

Love your videos. Keep up the good work!
Love this for my small network!👍
love the switch, have 3 of them here deployed, small and decent performance and POE is of course great, I use them as switches in certain rooms to not have to run multiple cables from my 24pro into each room
Its a great switch would be awesome to power through POE
Nice video. I enjoy your content.
Thank you
I’m going to miss the metal ngl... as always, great video Cody!
Thanks appreciate it !
Would be nice if you explain what those switch settings do. I can see that I can turn them on/off, enable or disable but as to why should I choose one over the other.
When rack mounting the patch panels do you ground the patch panels and if so what to/ how?
Where do you plug the Ethernet cable so the switch can receive internet? One of the PoE+ ports?
Do you think they will phase out the metal casing Versions, esp the us 8 switch, with 1 poe passthru
Hey cody, is there anyway to power this with another POE switch, like an adapter to plug into the back DC port? I have a UI 24 enterprise poe, would love to use this as this has battery backup already, so it would battery backup this switch also. Plan to mount this in attic for 6 total cameras. Would only need 3 cables(1 for switch, 2 for other cams) vs 6 cables(70-100feet per). If theres any other way that i can do this lmk. Cams use less than 7watts each.
Does this switch also get pretty hot ? I have bought a US-8-60W-EU to put in my garage, I thought this one with a metal case would be better for heat dissipation. Now I am concerned because even with nothing attached to it (just an uplink) it gets very hot.
Off topic... any chance you are going to do a video on the UDMP firmware? Specifically setting up say a /29 wan ip?
I’m about to release a video on the new update I’ll show the wan IP configuration but won’t be applying it in this video
Is this switch plug and play or do you have to have a UniFi controller for it or UDM?
Can you do custom port profiles with this switch?
The power adaptor input voltage is 110v or 220v ?
Hi, how did you get it to adopt? I cannot pick it up on my controller
Great video. Quick question., what is the difference between this one and the old silver 8 port 60 W switch that they sell at the same price? Thanks
This one does PoE+ (at), the 60w does PoE af. Discovered this when I tried to power my new AP 6 LR with the 60w switch. 🙃
would this work on its own? without the dream machine pro?
Can’t use POE to power it?
Waht should i do i turn on the switch i can't find to star?
Find it mad that this lite PoE has more power throughout than the non lite Gen 2 16 port PoE switch.
Can support U6 LR AP(2EA)?
Hi! I'm thinking to purchase the UniFi Switch Lite 8 PoE with 2 access points. Every video that I view on UA-cam mentions that you have to add to to the UniFi controller. May I just install the switch & the access points without the controller? I don't want to over complicate my setup.....
Thanks
Did you figure that out?
does this has enougth power to power up 2 ap wifi poe and cloud key gen one or 2 ??
Yup it does. It has 4 PoE ports
Can I hook up two access points and two cameras to this switch using PoE?
It depends. You will need to check the specs of each device you will be plugging into the switch to see how much wattage they need (ie. are they PoE or PoE+?). Then ensure the wattage sum of all them does not go over the total wattage budget of the switch.
Hm... I still can't understand: what is the point of it? US-8-60W is even cheaper...
PoE+
So, this new 8-port 'POE' switch has.. 4 ports that support PoE+, and 4 ports that have no PoE at all, and a maximum PoE budget of 52W
While the older 8-port POE switch has 8 ports that support PoE+, and a maximum POE budget of 150W
New one is made of plastic, old one is made of metal, both are layer 2 managed switches
Old model also has 2x 1G SFP ports
New model = $144CAD / $109USD
Old model = $259CAD / Not in the US Unifi store anymore
For someone who just wants to power a couple wireless access points, and couple cameras, I suppose the new one isn't bad.
Otherwise, the older model seems like it was a lot more bang for the buck
This is equivalent to the unifi 8 port 60 watt switch there were a few models made you would need to look at the USA store to find it
The one you are comparing with is the 150w model totally different. There is an older 60w model that’s the same except for looks, casing and mounting compared to the one he’s reviewing.
Nice, I love this switch. Check your emails
Hi what's your name so I know if I got your email
Old steel case looks outdated, I really like new white PLASTIC design for $109. LOL
Considering Hitler moustache...
I'm sorry men, no offence, but there is something terribly wrong with you taste.
