the lesson I took from that Tyron and Danny convo was the game is chess not checkers. always gotta think ahead of the game as well. a lesson I learned from Vikings from.the GOAT. KING RAGNAR.
"Who thought this was a good idea?" Tyrion. Tyrion thought this was a good idea. A lot of people think it's OOC for Tyrion to have bad ideas, but they seem to forget that Tyrion's brilliance is in court intrigue, not fighting the undead.
A fun thing to remember also is that mance said to Jon a while back "Isnt their survival more important than your pride" and thats exactly what dany said to him last episode
I thought they missed an opportunity earlier in the season to explain the trip north of The Wall. Tyrion hatched the idea, but have him explain it as, 'Well, either they exist and our progressively madder Queen will see that there's another, real threat or we will have gotten rid of the King in the North for long enough for us to consolidate power in the south."
"We need to be ruthless if we're going to win" but also has a problem with her burning soldiers. It's like Jamie said, "only a fool makes threats he isn't prepared to carry out."
The thing about the Tarlys is that Daenerys trapped herself into a course of action, "Bend the knee or die". At that point she gave up valuable options and allowed the actions of others to force her hand. As soon as the Tarlys refused to bend the knee she had to kill them, and live up to Cersei's progaganda, or appear weak. She had lost her temper with Tyrion, then launched the attack on the wagon train and then used fear and intimidation to try to cow the prisoners she captured, without thinking through to the end. "What happens if they don't bend the knee? I'll have to become exactly the sort of leader that I've always tried to avoid being. I'll have to be the sort of leader that armies rally against. I'll have to draw an inescapable parallel with my father, the Mad King."
MattH what’s a valuable option? (she also was open to sending them to nights watch) you think she should let them go home so they can fight against her some more? i’m not disagreeing with you i just don’t understand why ppl get upset with her. yes i understand it helped play into the propaganda cersie was feeding them but still ppl expect her to let them go home to their families & let them continue to fight against her lol
@@hallecandi4028: I don't think I have ever seen anyone suggest that she should have just turned them loose. Game of Thrones basically operates on medieval concepts. She could have offered the Tarlys parole. Releasing them on their word of honour not to fight against her. She could have arranged for the internment, and ransoming of the prisoners after the conclusion of the war. She has a force of Dothraki that vastly out numbers the small number of Lannister/Tarly survivors, and at that point she has ample reason to believe that her Dragons could end the war very quickly. Instead she chooses to get these survivors to bend the knee on pain of death. How loyal do you think those men are at that point? If you were one of them, would you feel honour bound, or would you consider yourself free to act because it was an "oath" given under compulsion? If you're working for Daenery's, what would you advise her to do with all those Lannister troops that bent their knees. Only a hopeless optimist would expect them to fight loyally for Daenerys. At best they are a penal battalion that you constantly have to threaten with death. Personally, I'd want them all interned until the war was over, regardless of whatever oaths they offered. Particularly as you've not only just burnt many of the friends and family alive in the battle, you've just followed that up by essentially making them beg for their lives. These are proud men, fighting men, and you've essentially terrified them to the point they grovelled in the dirt. That's something they are never going to forget or forgive her or themselves for. They simply cannot be trusted. Also, whilst Daenerys keeps her word and burns those who refuse to bend the knee but her actions can still be perceived to show weakness. Firstly, she shows no confidence that she can be this better leader that she wants to be, she does not try to find a new way, she instantly falls back on "rule by terror". Secondly, its arguable that a truly strong leader would simply have ordered her troops not to accept surrender. You don't t have to be cruel about it, you don't toy with them, if taking prisoners is going to disrupt your war effort, you kill them. Now, this is inevitably seen as a war crime by modern standards, but both sides and all nationalities did this at points during WWII. If taking prisoners isn't going to disrupt your effort, then you take them and control them until the war is over. What isn't strong leadership is hoping that the fact you burn anyone who says no to you has just converted an enemy army into loyal subjects.
I so badly wanted to hear Nikki at the beginning of the episode say "Don't you put that evil on me Ricky Bobby!" when Steven was saying someone isn't coming back :)
I honestly didn't like the Sansa and Arya storyline this season, I thought it was unfair and stupid for Arya to blame Sansa for that letter for which Sansa was forced to write and Arya should know what it's like to be their prisoner when she was serving Tywin
@@reecedarby658 But what about when Arya and Sansa were in her bedroom? What was the point of that unnecessary threat? This could've been a lot easier with just going to Bran, I'm not one to nitpick like some people who complained about this episode, but I would agree with this arc it was way more complicated than it needed to be
Moist Gnome she wasn’t pretending someone else to infiltrate the Lannister’s, she was just lucky she happened to be there and Tywin thought she was interesting - it happened all by luck, not of her own accord
23:06 It's not the swords, it's the Lord of Light... Thoros used to dip his sword in wildfire before a fight (this is _definitely_ not good for the sword), maybe because he was still a red priest, if only in name, maybe because he was drunk as a fiddler, maybe to inspire fear on his opponents, probably all of the above... when he got religion, though, after bringing Beric back for the first time, he apparently also learned how to do it with actual magic (which is probably cheaper on swords and chemicals, and more controllable), and teach it to Beric (or maybe it was the other way 'round)... but the swords themselves are completely normal, if maybe a bit sooty.

Back up! Back up! Back up! Oh no! Don't back up! Don't back up! hahaha that was the best!
😂 yes!! 25:07
Notification squad!! Dropped everything I was doing to watch this! Love you guys!
Jorah knows that he doesn't deserve Long Claw. It may be his by name, but he knows that if Jeor gave Jon his sword, then Jon earned it. He also knows now that Jon and the Nights Watch killed the mutineers who killed his father. Jorah did what was right.
18:44 Here they go again...these two just cant stop arguing atm. What a tense episode.
the lesson I took from that Tyron and Danny convo was the game is chess not checkers. always gotta think ahead of the game as well. a lesson I learned from Vikings from.the GOAT. KING RAGNAR.
Back up back up! OH NO DONT BACK UP LMAOOO funniest reaction ever
You have quickly become one of my favorite reaction channels. Thank you so much for keeping up the good work!
"Who thought this was a good idea?" Tyrion. Tyrion thought this was a good idea. A lot of people think it's OOC for Tyrion to have bad ideas, but they seem to forget that Tyrion's brilliance is in court intrigue, not fighting the undead.
@@anyap4347 They dumbed him down the main problem
The enemy always wins and we still need to fight him. 😮👀💀
eating autumn treats here in denmark!æbleskiver and a cold beer watching this!life is good!
WHO WAS HERE QUICKLY TOO?

I was like 20 minutes late, but I still clicked super fast lol
Euh.... Me?! 🤔😅
Love to watch you guys reacting to this great TV show. Greetings from Portugal.
I love the "Magnificant Seven of Winter" …
"back up , back up!!! ohhhh NO DONT BACK UP" lmao love it
21:43 is the best"dude what kind of fucking swords do they have ? o.O" hahahha
A fun thing to remember also is that mance said to Jon a while back "Isnt their survival more important than your pride" and thats exactly what dany said to him last episode
We see a little inspiration from the Marathon story here with Gendry!
The Sansa/Arya Stuff is sooo griiiingy in this episode!
Gunna miss you guys for the next so many months before the new and final season.
The hound has poor group synergy with the fire sword guys. Jon was silly to have fire based dps when it CC's your main tank.
Nikki “ back up back up back up oh no don’t back up don’t back up” You guys make my day!!
"Back up, back up. Oh NO! DON'T BACK UP"
lololol
20:02 Beric could do that back when he first met Arya.
Great reaction as always. Love your shirt Nikki!
"Chaos is an escalator." - Nikki
I so badly wanted to hear Nikki at the beginning of the episode say "Don't you put that evil on me Ricky Bobby!" when Steven was saying someone isn't coming back :)
i think it’s funny that they caught a white walker scouting party by surprise
I love so much yours réactions! Same of mine, years later . Greats from france
Back then my prediction for this episode was: They are going to succeed with getting a wight, but the wight will be one of them...
So funny....I thought the same thing. lol
that "it was me" t-shirt is awesome!
I honestly didn't like the Sansa and Arya storyline this season, I thought it was unfair and stupid for Arya to blame Sansa for that letter for which Sansa was forced to write and Arya should know what it's like to be their prisoner when she was serving Tywin
Lemonade Peetra it was all a plan to get littlefinger he thought he was turning them against each other but they was playing him it was genius
@@reecedarby658 But what about when Arya and Sansa were in her bedroom? What was the point of that unnecessary threat? This could've been a lot easier with just going to Bran, I'm not one to nitpick like some people who complained about this episode, but I would agree with this arc it was way more complicated than it needed to be
@@reecedarby658
(SPOILER'S BELOW)
... Don't get me wrong, I loved how it ended in the last episode but this episode with this arc was just unnecessary
Moist Gnome she wasn’t pretending someone else to infiltrate the Lannister’s, she was just lucky she happened to be there and Tywin thought she was interesting - it happened all by luck, not of her own accord
Stupid writing.
18:25 to be fair to Daenerys the lost of her son and not being able to have more children is a sore spot for her.
I know this has nothing to do with the video but Nikki I am obsessed with your shirt it is amazing
LOL I love your "It Was Me" shirt so much!
