Agree with your views on the STI, and many thanks for the share there, Kelvin. Right now, the 3 banks + SingTel hold a close to 57% weightage towards the benchmark index (as I'm looking at it now). So, buying into it is kind of like having a big concentration in these 4 companies. :)
To be fair, put the S&P500 and (ES3 share price+ DIVIDEND!!!) [no just the bare ES3 share price] in the first slide so that people will not get the wrong information in the first glance and then choose to stay from SGX. "information" like this will cause SGX to perform badly, and thus SG economy, I think. Yotuber influencers you have a duty!
At first look, the "stability" of STI ETF may look like a bad thing... However, there are several counters of good companies that tend to move up and down 25-50% every few years (e.g. banks, ST Engineering, Genting Singapore, YangZiJiang, etc.). There are definitely money to be made (note: you may be better off investing in S&P500 ETF though).
What I dont understand is, wouldnt investing in a government bond like SSB / SRS provide similar returns? Why would I invest in STI when I can invest in something more guaranteed like bonds with similar returns
Hi Kelvin, can you shed some light to this case if only have 5K is it not possible to trade in option? As I am trying to find stable company and most of their price is high and for 1 contract it will be impossible to do option. Appreciate your sharing, thank you.
STI is an exchange for 'Chicken Little' companies that is well aware that there is nowhere else that they can get listed, while some are on it because of the need to do 'National Service'. We should not be surprised if it remains flat not only for the last 10 years but in the coming 20 years. We are just too small and boring for major players to even bother investing in, so it is pretty much left to the local boys only.

STI is much more stable than SP500. it hasnt moved in the past 10 years.
Hahaha
Yea it's like a stable coin hahahahah .....what is volatile men ......Btc is volatile ....with great volatility comes great growth and return!

Yes all local UA-camrs have this duty but they choose to ignore. Hope MAS scrutinised all their contents one day and see if have any misleading stuff…
agree. these so-called Finfluencers have very low ethical standard when it comes to their content.
I thought STI has a dividend yield of 3.7% vs 1+% for S&P...
That’s because people buy the STI for dividends. STI dividend yield 4% while S&P500 dividend yield 1%.

How Kelvin? Downsizing TSLA anot? Can share your thoughts? Kamsia!
To the moon🚀🚀
STI might be a shocker as money moves from west to east. At the end of the day it’s about geopolitics
Thanks for the video.
Is it a good idea to do swing trading using STI ETF with a 6 figure sum?
In theory i guess possible, since the movement is range bound. In practice, better to avoid trading 6 figure at the start
Sti is super safe,,because it has no surprises,,is always stay or slide down ..good for someone got sitting duck character
SG stock no moving one....like dead pool...other drop, it follow to drop, other up, he never bother to move up...😅
