Roy beat Hopkins when it mattered... When they fought again they both looked like 2 senior citizens poking at each other😂.. Both were well beyond these days so Roy will 4ever hold the W over Hopkins in his prime...
When Roy fought Hopkins he was still green as a fighter and not in his prime yet. But when Bernard beat Roy in the rematch he was way past his prime so I guess it evens itself out.
Roy was better. I'm a Tyson fan, but after a certain point, early in Tyson's career, he started to regress. He was relying on power and intimidation even after Tokyo and was trash by the time Holyfield to him to school .
@@kennethgordon2401Exactly. He gave Montel Griffen a 70-30 split to get him back in the ring after he lost to him by DQ. So for Roy to ask for a 60-40 split from Hopkins was generous. Hopkins didn’t want the fight. Not the other way around.
@@bradtaylor5828 u must didn't see the fight..he claimed his hand was hurt n he fought with one hand n again ducked the rematch for a decade out of fear of being beaten up..so prime for prime yeah but he didn't win convincingly at all..it was a bs decision because he ran n refused to engage n used a slap jab n held on n clinched often..Benard showed him way too much respect which he didn't at all in thr rematch which he dominated n eon every round. So naw Roy was a chicken..he did the same bs when he fought James toney n scored a flash knockdown which won him the fight..Roy was smart in picking his opponents more than he was a great fighter..once his athleticism was gon he was below average n had absolutely no skill to fall back on..he was all speed n unorthodox style and punches. He wasn't abgreat fighter he was an explosive fighter. N decent puncher depending on his opponents.
@@bradtaylor5828 Roy was scared ti death like I said. N Hopkins showed him too much respect...he should have made him fight and earn a win not dance n get a bs decision when neither guy was landing cleanly.

Roy jones gave the best hype interviews ever 💯

@@matthewnikitas8905yeah but Roy's prime is a big difference to a aged roy, Hopkins not as good in prime but as he ages he maintains better
If Roy had enough balls, he would've rematched Hopkins when it mattered (he didn't)
