@@volt8684 Great story ! .... I worked for the NHS for a decade , in that time the official name for the patients in our particular field was changed 5 times , with all the associated expense with paperwork etc ... among others they were called "service users" and "clients" !
Test rode the Triumph 400x and CL500 back to back recently. Triumph is a great looking bike but the CL was a much better ride in my opinion. On the lookout for a dealership bargain CL as a result. Great video series David.
The Harley board may have bitten off more than they can chew . Harley riders are( how can I put it ?) traditionalists . They love Mom , the USA , apple pie , the American dream , and the inalienable right to own a Harley Davidson . A real Harley made in America . And why shouldn't they ? There's nothing wrong with being patriotic and supporting your home industry . The woke culture self delusion is blind to common sense and logic . I think Indian ( hardly a politically correct name for a company , but ironically loved by Native Americans ) will pick up a lot of new customers . That's life and that's business . It's a cycle . Very well said, The typical American HD owner is almost the polar opposite of the current CEO in so many ways and rather than tone his ideas down he seems to want to flaunt them .... I agree it's an real opportunity for Indian ..
I'm sure, once it's $1 a share, and it's been heading that way anyway, a nice Chinese company will buy the Harley brand for their line of battery power bikes... the Elecrta Glide will suddenly make sense, but sell very few units.

As far as I understand it, it started off simply as those politically aware of the world we live in.But now it seems to be used by those on the political right to mean anything they disagree with. In any event all companies reside in a political world which affects us all including the economics of a company. I recall some years ago when Harley Davidson were politically rescued by the Reagan administration who effectively gave them subsidies and halted the competition from non American motorcycle manufacturers. They were given this help to respond to the competition and bring their bikes up to date, but never did so. They just carried on the same old way. Was this Woke?
They've had problems for years as their core base of loyal customers get older and change their bikes less frequently. Anyone remember the Vrod? that tanked and I think the Pan America isn't doing well either. They're in a downward spiral and I don't know how they'll get out of it as it's very often far easier to loose existing customers than gain new ones, especially when what you're selling is an expensive luxury item that people don't actually need to buy. I test rode a dynaglide in the early 2000's and decided they were not for me within a couple of miles, so returned it to the dealer.
I do remember the V-Rod , I test rode one back in the day and liked it . Agree about the Pan , problems with the bike and not selling . Thanks for comment.
I saw a couple of videos about Harley Davidson owners in the US. One was a group of people with machine guns shooting a Harley up. They then put it on an oil barrel and blew it up!! The other video was showing several bikers at the Sturgis rally who'd covered their HD badges or taken them off. The latter of the two is reportedly being done by a lot of riders. The videos were on the Benny Johnson channel.

I understand that M & S asked staff to consider adding their gender identity to their name badge and what they wish to be referred to, ie he/she/him/her etc. How to turn yourself into a laughing stock in one easy lesson particularly when your traditional customer base are mature and conservative. Charities are also becoming politicised too. I here that the National Trust has started to display its left leanings along with the RNLI🤔
Don't know anything about the Harley thing. I always find the criticism of the BBC quite funny. The left think it's too far to the right, the right think it's too far to the left. That suggests that maybe they are actually following the law for news broadcasters of showing both sides of the argument. All this political division is just really tedious now. It seems people can't have a nuanced discussion. They have their views, they are right, anyone with a contrary opinion must be an idiot. Bring back non-identity, non-culture-war politics and everyone might actually be able to talk without fear of a pile on and people might actually learn something from people who disagree.
