Unreal. I clicked in thinking I could find some tips to repair a couple section of my og plaster moulding. Nope. This is far beyond my capabilities. Very impressive sir.

Fantastic video, and just what I was looking for to learn how to do this. I just need to know how to do internal corners now - been racking my brains and haven't thought how to yet!

You could make sections of the moulding upside down on a bench and then install it as if it was a piece of wood, then simply marry the pieces together

I'm wondering the same thing. Part of me thinks I can and part of me thinks it's like watching a pro athlete and thinking I can play ball like they do. They all make it look so easy.

I would’ve like to see how you did the corners. My guess is you get it as close as possible then fill and form manually.

Nice, old school, you don't see that much these days, you mostly see guys pre making plaster coves and medallions with a sled then screwing/glueing them to the walls.
I'm a retired old school guy.

How do you make the form, the sliding template. I made one out of wood for the chair rail but then reinforced it with metal. It’s does not work well at all.
Also I see the variations in your plaster consistency. Can you share how many coats and what mixes you are using when you dab it all up in mass, then hand wash, then paint brush then detail , please.

    • @georgepauls4159

Technically inside and outside corners are done with a Mitre Rod, when you see him working with a piece of metal that has a 45% angle that comes to a point, it’s either a self made one or purchased (can’t telling the video). Mitre Rods are an obscure tool that is hard to find, as the horse can’t do inside or outside corners, the Mitre Rod follows the contours of the moulding while you move it at an angle creating the mitre joints

Nop he doesnt it is plaster of paris with double hydrated lime 2/3 lime 1/3 plaster. You need to add water until the consistency is creamy (make a donut on a table with the lime, fill it with water then add the plaster of paris)

Why would someone choose the plaster crown moldings which are long in the making, expensive and hard to repair verses the wood, polyethylene or styrofoam?
