I would argue a pistol before rifle. A prepared armed citizen should be carrying a concealed pistol as edc in my opinion. Good information and advice .
I would agree pistol first but the rifle should follow very close behind. The chance of using a rifle in daily life is much less than a handgun. Get both asap and train with both. Also basic medical skills are arguably more important and much more likely to be needed by the average citizen.

I used to say the same thing. What I found is that a tiny bit of confidence in a rifle make a world of difference.
