LMAO!!! I just watched this 1 year later and realized the strings were wound backwards on most of the tuners !!!! I had just pulled this out of the UPS box from Guitar Center right before this video, so you see what people are doing with their guitars!!!! Rookie city
I own NC710329 bought it in a Las Vegas thrift store for 35 bucks with a fender hardcase. I almost yelled when i saw it. It has the full body and the neck feels great in my hands. Definitely want to upgrade it with new frets and tuners if the electronics check out as good they will stay.
I got one but it’s black cherry finish not black . The slab Brazilian rosewood fretboard is 1962 model and custom colors were introduced in 1959 1/2 the second half of the year.
awesome video!. i have several "NC" serial numbered Strats. and would like to find a Tele also. the 50th anniversary i just picked up for $35. it already had the Trem system, and what looks like a complete loaded MIM pickguard in it. the neck actually feels better than my MIM Strat. and its a 22 fret neck. the dot inlays are close together like a MIA Strat. i believe your correct, when the Chinese plant started, they didn't have the tooling to make their own parts yet. and Fender USA sent them the necks, and body's.
I'm convinced. Like you say, the first thing I would do with a £1864 custom strat would be to rewire it anyway... so why not grab a lovely old guitar. Most of my guitars are mik, and I have a beautiful mij 70s Les Paul.. which sounds great native. But I need to mod a strat and all I want is a decent platform on which to do that. Thanks 🙏
@@audiomonster303 I am in Scotland, and I actually just don't like the thought of a vintage guitar in shipping. Anything could happen! (I'm assuming from your accent you're in North America) There is a guy not far from me with some nice old 90s Squiers. (Both red and black too :)
@@jimiwills yep Im in Colorado. Just make sure its not plywood unless your fine with that, nearly every korean squier unless the gold logo ones are plywood. Take off the back cover plate and you can verify if it is or not :) If it is you will see 15 plys of wood. Hope that helps!
@@audiomonster303 good advice, thanks. I'm looking at a walnut standard... I'd be surprised if they veneered around the curves, but will check. The guy says it's solid body, so that's ideal. Looks lovely. Once I've got it, I'm gonna make a new plate and maybe fit the guitar and plates with connectors for the jack and ground so I can swap them over more easily. I was in Denver in 2008 for a conference. It was really nice.
Take another close look at the tuners. I can't find anything to fit mine. The low e hole is drilled too far out towards the nut because the machines housing wouldn't fit any other way. If anyone knows a locking tuner that fits this guitar, please let me know.
@@audiomonster303 I ended up drilling and using the Guyker tuners and fender rolling T-string holders. The original upper left hole is exposed but I'll be able to fill them using the maple sawdust I saved. I've done it before mixing the dust with clear coat and pressing it in with a tooth pick then polish it back out. I guess if we're keeping our guitars, it's only us who care how it is.;

@@audiomonster303 Thank you for getting back to me and for your advice on the strings!
I picked up an NC4 and the truss adjustment is in the neck pocket. It’s a solid guitar.

Jacarandá?
A própria Fender USA parou com o Jacarandá em 59 .. Após esse período é " Indian Rosewood"

yeah its tough to match those vintage tuners to a modern locking tuner without having to drill new holes in the headstock.
