They say that I’m the not cool one because I work and I think that it is better to work for what you have rather then just having it handed to you.

I’m German and live in the UK. Both Lidl and Aldi are German companies. In the UK they pronounce Lidl like “little” and it REALLY annoys me. In Germany we pronounce it like you do.
